Yet to see a single Conservative sign

Anyone else live in traditional rural Conservative stronghold who have yet to see any Conservative signs out.

I live in a rural area where the vote is often split between Tory or Lib Dem. Current sitting MP is a Conservative. The local farmers usually put out huge Conservative signs in their fields around election time. I've yet to see any. Seen lots of the usual Lib Dem signs, and quite a few Greens. But no Conservative at all is really unusual.

I also saw a poll from the Farmers Weekly if 13,000 which suggests the Conservatives will only get 5% of their vote, lib dems 21%, reform 13% and Labour an enormous 61%. I'm very shocked by this and I would say this is pretty damning for the Conservatives, who often can rely on the vote from the Farming community!

I was saying the exact same thing yesterday!!
Actually wondering if you live in the same constituency. Hoping we may go lib dem at last. Anything better than the current mp who only appears for cameras!

Either were in the same constituency, or all Tory MPs are the same 🤣

I'm in SW too. Current incumbent very much only appears for the photo ops!

feathermucker · 16/06/2024 18:06

And she's a Tory

ThursdayTomorrow · 16/06/2024 18:07

Rural traditionally Tory area here and we have loads of Tory signs. Same as any other election.

icelolly12 · 16/06/2024 18:10

The farmers round here either have no banners or have switched to support various independent candidates

SnapdragonToadflax · 16/06/2024 18:10

Very traditionally Tory area here (20k majority), large town with quite a lot of rural areas, and I haven't seen any Tory signs. Lib Dems do well in local elections and have masses of signs around. Haven't had any Tory pamphlets but I email her regularly to complain so she might just be avoiding me 😂 She is very visible recently, unlike normal.

I do think there's probably an element of Tories being ashamed or just not wanting the possible aggro from having a sign up. Much as I would love us to go Lib Dem, I think it's unlikely.

Huifen · 16/06/2024 18:13

I live in a Tory stronghold. Have had leaflets from the labour and Lib Dem MPs and he seen Lib Dem signs but nothing from the conservatives at all.

RunningForMySanity · 16/06/2024 18:23

Semi-rural in SW and we currently have a Tory (but with a <1000 majority to Lib Dems last time round). Lib Dem signs everywhere, spotted one Green today and the very first Tory one I’ve seen. Must have had half a dozen Lib Dem leaflets to one Tory leaflet through the door. I will be shocked if Lib Dems dont take the seat this time round (Labour are way way back in my area)

Againname · 16/06/2024 18:25

Conservative area in the SE. Haven't seen any posters for any party. Haven't had any leaflets from any of them either.

PurBal · 16/06/2024 18:26

Same type of area as you, Lib Dem / Tory. I’ve seen Lid Dem, Tory, Independent, Green, Reform but no Labour (well I did, but over the boundary so technically a different consistency). What constituency are you in?

MossyBottomFarm · 16/06/2024 18:28

I live in Tory seat, but they are very likely to lose.

I work in a relatively safe Labour seat.

Visited my parents yesterday who are in a very safe Labour seat.

Visited friends today who live in a relatively safe Tory seat.

Not seen a single sign of any description…. I assume they are either saving their budgets for the last week and concentrating it in the marginals?

wendywoopywoo222 · 16/06/2024 18:28

We're generally Tory here. I've not seen any signs for anyone but did have a letter from Rishi yesterday which made me chuckle a lot 😂😂😂😂

Guavafish1 · 16/06/2024 18:28

my friend lives in Toryville but says there is a lot of support for Farage/Reform.

StormingNorman · 16/06/2024 18:29

OMG yes…and my area has never been anything but blue! My whole county is blue except for one constituency.

longdistanceclaraclara · 16/06/2024 18:31

No signs anywhere here, traditional Tory stronghold. Apathetic would sum it up.

Neversaygoodbye · 16/06/2024 18:32

New constituency in SE, very much a tory seat in the past and always saw lots of tory signs in past elections but not seen one so far this time around. Seen Lib Dem and Labour. The Labour candidate I believe is the only one who lives locally and seems pretty good.

NoWordForFluffy · 16/06/2024 18:33

We've been Tory for a good few years now. I've never once seen a Tory sign here!

Noosnom · 16/06/2024 18:34

I saw one on the rural Hants/Berks border this weekend. Commented on it at the time as I haven't seen any others.

ThisOldThang · 16/06/2024 18:35

They're probably worried about left-wing radicals vandalising their homes or physically assaulting them.

CoastalCalm · 16/06/2024 18:36

I haven’t seen many signs at all , one house in a neighbouring village has reform signs in their garden and that’s it - I don’t think people bother much these days for any party

Lopine · 16/06/2024 18:41

I’ve seen two conservatives signs, both in farmers fields, one vandalised. I think they are the work of large landowners, who will have benefited from Tory policy.

Actual farmers, who make a living from growing food (as opposed to leasing their land to people who do) are generally pretty unhappy with the tories, especially around the post brexit trade deals, that have allowed cheap, lower welfare foreign exports to flood in.

eyeblob · 16/06/2024 18:46

Sw. Wondering if I am same area as some of you. Where I live there are several red posters up which is very unusual and a few blue. Seems to be a definite swing to Labour. East of where I live I saw one blue on the way to Plymouth today and no others. The mp there doesn't seem well thought of locally but she seems to always gets voted back in. I work in north Cornwall, I read that may be going lib dem, lots of orange posters there when I drove through last week no blue, all are tory MPs at moment.

OddityOddityOdd · 16/06/2024 18:49

I live in one of the safest Tory seats in the country - not a single poster anywhere but I have one for Labour 😁

pointythings · 16/06/2024 18:49

I'm in a normally very safe Tory seat and am being spammed by Tory leaflets. It feels a little desperate.
