What do you have with lasagne?

Cooking for friends this week and am planning to make a lasagne. I was just going to serve it with a salad and garlic bread, not sure what type but should I add anything else? I always worry when I'm feeding other people but I'm probably overthinking it. What do you have with lasagne?

Chips or salad

BabaYetu · 01/09/2024 11:58

Salad. That’s all it needs, the lasagna has everything else.

Stirmish · 01/09/2024 11:58

Just a salad is fine

LadyKenya · 01/09/2024 11:58

A serving of green vegetables, like asparagus, or tender stem broccoli.

rainbowsparkle28 · 01/09/2024 11:59

Salad and garlic bread would be all I would have with it.

MyNoseSmells · 01/09/2024 11:59

Salad. Or green veg like peas/broccoli.

Really the lasagne in itself is a whole meal as I put quite a lot of veg in the sauce anyway. (Don't tell DC!)

FinallyYouSaid · 01/09/2024 12:00

Either salad or peas plus garlic bread.

However, I know lots of people that would do/expect chips with lasagne. Always seems bonkers and unnecessary to me though.

Just salad usually.
Not a fan of double carbs.

Bring wine or desert

Mindymomo · 01/09/2024 12:01

I would be happy with salad and garlic bread, the men in my family either have chips, new potatoes or potato wedges.

Whale80ne · 01/09/2024 12:02

Just salad or vegetables - you don't need garlic bread as the pasta is the carbohydrate, it's like serving both potatoes and rice on the same plate... but if you like garlic bread obviously it does no harm to bake it and put it on the table for people to help themselves to if they want it.

EmpressoftheMundane · 01/09/2024 12:02

No chips with the lasagna!

Tossed salad perfect. Garlic bread an easy, en point addition to make it feel more generous for those who double carb.

poetryandwine · 01/09/2024 12:03

Your salad, maybe some garlic bread or just a baguette is perfect OP.

Lasagne is a rich, carby dish so it wants simple sides

AdaColeman · 01/09/2024 12:10

Green salad and a glass of wine. I wouldn't have garlic bread with lasagna. Wine Wine

ApolloandDaphne · 01/09/2024 12:17

We always have garlic bread with lasagne. Salad is sometimes an option but always garlic bread.

Bohomovies · 01/09/2024 12:19

Just salad, and some nice herby olives.

Chips or salad

That's for corned beef, isn't it?

Don't know about that, I don't eat it.

TheClawDecides · 01/09/2024 12:21

Garlic bread.

I think I'm one of the few people who doesn't think salad and pasta go together.

Powerplant · 01/09/2024 12:23

Greek salad is perfect with lasagne plus the garlic bread.

GeorgesMarvelousCalpol · 01/09/2024 12:26

For just us it would be Caesar Salad and garlic bread, for guests I'd add chips too - so triple carbs 😋

Edingril · 01/09/2024 12:30

On its own, salad or garlic bread if someone else wants some I will have a little

ProvincialLady2024 · 01/09/2024 12:39

Salad and garlic bread.

StolenChanel · 01/09/2024 12:40

Just salad. Sometimes chips if I’m feeling piggish. It has all the necessities of a full meal already.
