What do you have with lasagne?

Cooking for friends this week and am planning to make a lasagne. I was just going to serve it with a salad and garlic bread, not sure what type but should I add anything else? I always worry when I'm feeding other people but I'm probably overthinking it. What do you have with lasagne?

Green beans dressed in a lemony vinaigrette. Can serve warm or cold and turn it into a salad with tomatos etc

Garlic bread, chips and salad

Bring wine or desert

Bring it where?

I've made a lasagne today. Chips and mayo, sorry not sorry.

If in polite company, salad only.

This sounds lovely. I’d do that, and add garlic bread.

I like coleslaw with mine.

Salad.

Or Glasgow salad (i.e. chips).

Nice salad. Garlic bread if portions are small but usually we have a mountain of lasagne and a salad on the side

Homemade focaccia, because I'm a wanker and salad.

Definitely not peas.

I like your self awareness Grin

Lovelyview · 01/09/2024 15:11

I'd serve it with an interesting mixed salad with toasted pine nuts and olives

HBGKC · 01/09/2024 15:17

Peas with, and salad after.

WonderingWanda · 01/09/2024 15:17

Garlic bread and salad in the summer or green veg broccoli and peas in the winter. I personally love peas and lasagna but my kids hate them.

SquigglePigs · 01/09/2024 15:23

I don't like salad so I always do a green veg like green beans or runner beans. I find it a bit rich to have it just on it's own so like the freshness of the veg.

If I was making it for guests I'd do garlic bread too to make it more special.

Homemade coleslaw with some spring onion and a vinegary mayo in it. The crunch of the raw veg and the slight acid of the mayo just helps cut through the creaminess of the lasagna sauce (and the fiery garlicness of the garlic bread we have with it too).

Garlic dip? What are you dipping into it?

The bread. Also makes a great insurance against inadequate amounts of bechamel.

Salad and coleslaw for me xxx

Peas, salad or garlic bread. Sometimes chips.
