Polish Sausage or Chorizo or similar: How do I skin them without destroying the shape of it?

Just noticed there’s a thread entitled “vegan sausage reveal”. Mouthwatering.

Please link, I feel we need to invade.

As others have said, welcome light relief at the end of a busy day. So many witty Mumsnetters!

I suspect, alas, that this is all being done for some troll and/or will end up in the Daily Fail or similar.

However, since the subject is under discussion, I thought that I might as well reveal that in recent weeks I have indeed been skinning sausages. To make 'sausage balls' for parties. You need a sharp knife and wet hands. Even so, they are extremely popular with men.

I am a wife and I am old. Am also vegetarian. So have never tasted them. But this is what I do. Take sausages (skins removed) or sausage meat (not sold locally, hence the skinning), mix generously with either chopped garlic or herbes de provence - not both together - then form into walnut-sized balls. Cook on something non-stick (essential) at high temp (c 200 C) for approx 10-15 mins. Turn if necessary, but I am told that the rather sticky caramelised base is one of the best bits.

I don't think, however, that the OP was after cookery hints and tips.

I think it’s important for a new wife to get hubster involved in the kitchen.

I agree. The husband should make sure he gets her all the equipment she needs and gives her money for the groceries. Teamwork makes the dream work!

RestingCatsArseFace · 24/11/2023 18:54

But what about the ones with a bendy bit?

OnWhatGrounds · 24/11/2023 18:55

😂

Rec0veringAcademic · 24/11/2023 19:01

I'm trying very hard not to choke on my dinner! 🤣😂😂🤣

Am I the only feral who snaps a chorizo in half and tears the skin off?

No, you are not. It's all about the SNAP when you eat a sausage. The skin should be tougher than the meat so you bite in & behold the juices beneath...mmmm.

I watch a lot of cooking shows.

Topsyturvy78 · 24/11/2023 19:09

Why do you need to skin them? You can buy sausage meat so you won't need to. If your making something like sausage rolls.

Lelophants · 24/11/2023 19:26

But why would you want to? Won’t the insides just all flap out?

New wife?

Maybe it was meant to be 'no life?'

timefracuppa · 24/11/2023 19:33

Redshoeblueshoe · 24/11/2023 14:28

Absolutely

I agree though I must admit I had no idea peeling sausages was a thing. Marriage is so complicated these days.

I honestly read that as cocking shows first time round. I think I had better go and have a nice cup of tea and calm down.

Good to see the bots are getting creative.

ScremeEggs · 24/11/2023 19:44

Sounds a bit extreme like 😳

Dontbehorridhenry · 24/11/2023 20:04

Did you mean new knife?

Is that bloody you, our cat?! You're still not forgiven for stealing and eating the chorizo from the foody gift hamper from under the tree last Christmas Eve. Nor for the projectile digestive upsets from both ends we and the DCs came down to on Christmas morning. Nice typing though, for a cat.

Edited to say this did actually happen!

FrillyGoatFluff · 24/11/2023 21:46

I'm an old wife and I just buy sausage meat...

GoingDownLikeBHS · 24/11/2023 22:49

Sorry it's from May. There's another one keeps popping up "what to do with cocktail sausages" so it seems people are often puzzled by pork, not just new wives ...

Any men reading this thread will be quickly but discreetly crossing their legs and keeping a close eye on their DP/W.😮

Only if they are old though. The new ones don’t know how to do it.

Bromptotoo · 25/11/2023 00:51

I thought this was a euphemism.....

A whole sausage?

No wonder there's an obesity crisis

maybe it's going to form part of a massive mumsnet salad
