New wife. How to skin a sausage?

Polish Sausage or Chorizo or similar: How do I skin them without destroying the shape of it?

OP posts:
Helenahandkart · 24/11/2023 15:08

I skinned my first sausage last week, after being married for 20 years. It was messy and DH looked surprised that I was making so much effort.

ThelmaBorden · 24/11/2023 15:11

is it ribbed ?

I’ve been married eleven years and have never skinned a sausage. Or described myself as a ‘new wife’, come to think of it.

Tbf I've never been married and never skinned a chorizo sausage so 🤷‍♀️
I have skinned a pork sausage tho, do you need a marriage licence for that? Am I in trouble?

Rollinghill · 24/11/2023 15:15

Mumsnet at it's best 😄

Hee hee!!

<waits for OP to come back and gets popcorn>

ChessieFL · 24/11/2023 15:15

DH does all the cooking in our house. He is married but is obviously not a wife. Does he need to call me in for sausage skinning duties? To think I’ve been leaving him to it all this time not knowing it’s solely a new wife’s job…

wesurecouldstandgladioli · 24/11/2023 15:20

A couple of weeks ago OP was a divorced 39yo looking for another closeted bi woman!

FloorIt · 24/11/2023 15:20

OP, please come back, I need answers

I'm reporting you to the police. the lack of morals on this thread!

SeaUrchinHat · 24/11/2023 15:21

And this is what happens if you don't go to New Wife School before the big day.

Let him skin his own fucking sausage I say (although I've never been married and my 'modern' attitude could very well be to blame for that).

NewbieTwentyFour · 24/11/2023 15:22

I’m sorry, what? 😳

plumtreebroke · 24/11/2023 15:24

Babyghirl · 24/11/2023 14:35

@LouJou
You do know you can just buy sausage meat and make then without the skin on, or just buy the skinless sausages, but if my grown ass husband as me to skin his sausages I know where I would be putting them skin still on them to 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Yes but good quality sausages come nicely spiced, skinless are usually a bit bland.

TheSpruce · 24/11/2023 15:26

Please don't insult my country by skinning Polish sausages. If you want sausage meat, just buy it separately...

Gettingbysomehow · 24/11/2023 15:28

No idea, I've never cooked.

Dustyblue · 24/11/2023 15:30

Sometimes you must skin sausages. Eg, proper Italian salami has a thin paper skin on it. Much better removed. Or else than thin white stuff goes everywhere.

Zimunya · 24/11/2023 15:30

So many amusing responses on this thread! Thank you to all the wonderfully witty women of Mumsnet, who never disappoint.

PianPianPiano · 24/11/2023 14:48

Given the OPs previous posts, maybe its a typo and should read 'new life'... or 'new knife'. Or maybe 'new wifi'... Or maybe she HAS a new wife (woman from the gym) and needs to impress her with skinned polish sausage...

OP is going to be so embarrassed when she finally gets back to this thread 😂

DisquietintheRanks · 24/11/2023 15:31

For Spanish sausage (chorizo or the like) the answer is warmth, good red wine and a little light flirtation. Polish sausage however responds best to a more robust approach, good legs and maybe some beer.

Skodacool · 24/11/2023 15:32

We eat chorizo with skin on 😄

softfig · 24/11/2023 15:33

I wouldn't remove the skin. They prefer it that way.

EmpressaurusOfCats · 24/11/2023 14:26

I’ve just searched too & I’m now a bit confused. The OP says elsewhere that she’s getting divorced & is interested in a woman at her gym. Skinning her ex’s sausage would be a hell of a parting gesture.

Proper LOL.

I very much doubt that - OP likely has a skin thick as a frankfurter’s

I'm an old wife and have never skinned a sausage 🤔

I’m a mid term wife and if I’m skinning a sausage it’s to squash the rest….
