Steak to the boil

Hi I posted a meal I made recently and thankfully most people backed me up and agreed it was normal, it helped settle a huge argument with my other half.

I just wanted to mention 1 more thing and see what people think. I've been buying these sirloins from a brazillian shop (not the same as sirloin steak in the uk)

Then I cook them in a pot / bring them to boil and my partner thinks it's wrong because you're meant to fry them.

I keep saying it's not sirloin steaks it's a brazillian sirloin which is completely different and I'm cooking it right.

Can anyone help explain to him he's wrong? I know it's small but it has caused a lot of arguments in the kitchen, and this site helped me a lot yesterday in finding the right name for the food I made.

Again this is not a sirloin steak in the uk, it's not steak... it's a brazillian sirloin so remember that. Thanks!!!

Broiling is often used by Americans….

What Is Broiling?Similar to grilling, broiling is a method of cooking that exposes food to direct radiant heat. Unlike baking and roasting, which employ indirect hot air to thoroughly cook food throughout, broiling uses high heat from a direct flame to quickly cook food surfaces. Because of this, your broiler is the ideal method for achieving the perfect char on vegetables or meats.

SpeckledlyHen · 19/07/2023 13:08

This is surely got to be a wind up.. Surely

Yes, everyone knows you meant boiling. They are saying the waiter you spoke to most likely said they broiled their sirloin, not boiled! Although this thread is definitely a wind up anyway lol

Broiled isn't a word

hahaha, I have a CHARBROIL gas BBQ. Because "broil" absolutely IS a word - an American word for grill.

Rainbowshit · 19/07/2023 13:16

Broiling and boiling are different cooking methods. Broiling is the same as grilling.

Your boiled steak looks disgusting. Did you not think it wasn't quite the same as you ate in the restaurant?!

Goodness no, op clearly isn't actually boiling it and is only here on a windup

Clymene · 19/07/2023 13:28

You shouldn't boil meat unless you're cooking it for pets. What a waste of good sirloin

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 19/07/2023 13:30

Similar thread yesterday the OP about crisps and her Dh being wrong.
