Robin Hood. Prince of thieves.

I just love it.

My best ever present was when DH bought me the video. He put the DVD in my stocking at Christmas last. I may have cried a bit.
The Bryan Adams song makes me fill up every time.

I am ashamed that I have just written this and my favourite film isn't something intelligent and high brow but I am a bit post-nights-deletions and I have had wine.

Had to come back again. Just thought of loads of other films.

Sound of Music. Climb Every Mountain gives me goosebumps!
Lassie Come Home. My mum and I bawled our eyes out.
Four Weddings and a Funeral. Still love that opening scene.
Titanic. First date with DP. Theme song still makes me nostalgic.
Original animated version of 101 Dalmatians. Still makes me cry when the puppies are stolen.
Dr Zhivago. Omar Sharif was very gorgeous in this and the music is fabulous.

I love the wedding singer! It's not my usual type of film, usually like quite gritty stuff , but I've watched it loads of times 😃

wibblywobblyfish · 26/04/2017 19:25

WIlliam and Catherine - a royal romance. I'm quite ashamed of that one. Would never watch it if anyone else was in the house.

Absolute favourite film ever
Copycat

Closely followed by
Devils advocate
Cocktail
Top gun
The wedding date - watched it twice last week
All about Eve
Erin brokovich
The abyss
Adventures in babysitting
Highlander
Big Matthew perry fan so love fools rush in, three to tango, the whole nine yards
Practical magic - love it! Aidan Quinn is GORGEOUS in it.
I hear your Dantes peak but I raise you
Volcano (starring the fantastic Tommy led Jones who of course was also in the fugitive, double jeopardy, and under siege - all wonderfully cheesy naff films that I love watching).

Best weepies:
Imitation of life
Madam X
Who will love my children?
Steel magnolias
Pay it forward
Terms of endearment

Totally understand the following being favourites of others as I like them lots too:

Robin Hood prince of thieves (those who saw it first night of release may remember Sean Connery was a 'surprise' - pre internet spoiler days - there was an audible gasp from the audience when he was revealed, plus yes Alan rickman is fabulously camp/panto villain in it)

The princess bride
Four weddings and a funeral
Pretty woman
Officer and a gentleman
Dirty dancing
Con air
The bodyguard
In her shoes (I love Toni Colette and think Cameron Diaz is underrated I hope as she gets older she gets meatier roles)
Father of the bride 1&2 but especially 2 which I watched a LOT while pregnant
Armageddon
Bring it on! - cakesonatrain if the musicals in Glasgow I'd go see it there with you!
A knights tale
10 things I hate about you
Pitch perfect
Me Hollands opus - fabulous film!

Curls and curves one of the most heartbreaking scenes in a film - when Brian (Tom cruise) gets Dougs letter 😪😪😪

"Best KC was No Way Out." Absolutely! It was my gran recommended it then watched with her cringing at the sex scenes (I was 15 at the time)

NOT embarrassing
The breakfast club
The goonies
Casablanca
Gone with the wind

The Way We Were with Robert Redford and Barbara Streisand. Just love it.

JustifiedAncientofMooMoo · 26/04/2017 19:55

I watched "The way we were" last year on TV and loved it. I think I had seen it before as a cynical teen and declared it "soppy" - probably because my mum liked it!

Graphista · 26/04/2017 19:56

Never seen the way we were but think I'd like it.

Just thought of another

About time

JustifiedAncientofMooMoo · 26/04/2017 20:02

Redford really was gorgeous. It's just taken me decades to realise it! (Sorry Mum.)

A fantastic theme song too.

midsomermurderess · 26/04/2017 20:04

Black Narcissus. Completely OTT and bonkers but great fun to watch.

derxa · 26/04/2017 20:12

Bridesmaids. It saw me through a stay in hospital. I was obsessive.

MOIST · 26/04/2017 20:30

I am not ashamed of the following as they are good films.

  • Pretty Women
  • Dirty Dancing
  • Notting Hill
  • Coyote Ugly
  • Sweet Home Alabama
  • Con Air
  • Armageddon
  • Father of the Bride 1 and 2
  • The Parent Trap
  • Cheaper by the Dozen
  • Music and Lyrics
  • The Day After Tomorrow
  • My Girl

I always find George's relationship with Annie a bit intense and creepy in Father of the Bride.

NotBanksy · 26/04/2017 20:58

I love 'the secret of my success' with Michael j fox, watch it whenever I get the chance.

Also the blues brothers, cracking sound track Smile

Dragonheart and the Princess Bride for me.

Crumblevision · 12/05/2017 21:15

Anyone remember Feds with Rebecca De Mornay and a brunette actress - can't remember her name. I loved that. Also Lethal Weapon 3 in particular and A Few Good Men. Love Con Air too 😂

Purple999Red · 16/05/2017 10:48

My favorites would be My Best Friends Wedding, City of Angels and A Walk to Remember
