My favourite ever (and perhaps a little embarrassing) film, ever.........

Robin Hood. Prince of thieves.

I just love it.

My best ever present was when DH bought me the video. He put the DVD in my stocking at Christmas last. I may have cried a bit.
The Bryan Adams song makes me fill up every time.

I am ashamed that I have just written this and my favourite film isn't something intelligent and high brow but I am a bit post-nights-deletions and I have had wine.

OP posts:

Oh yes paddypants Greencard is great even though Andi McDowell is a terrible actress.

Also Say Anything and The Sure Thing. I love John Cusack Smile

JaneJeffer · 24/04/2017 23:19

And Doris Day films. I'm getting carried away now...

TheNiffler · 24/04/2017 23:19

That is an excellent bit in Volcano, TSSDN.

LostInMess · 24/04/2017 23:22

RatherBe, ConAir?!!

I remember going to see that with a friend of mine. He apologised at the end of it because it was SOOOOO bad GrinGrin

I am now humming lots of tunes from Seven Brides. I love anything with Howard Keel. And/or Doris Day. So Calamity Jane top of the list!

squoosh · 24/04/2017 23:24

Con Air is ace!

John Malkovich, Steve Buscemi even Nicolas Cage are all great in it

Willow2017 · 24/04/2017 23:25

So many good films already mentioned.
LOTR and The hobbit trilogies
Alien 1-4
Jurassic park always makes me well up when they see the dinos for first time and Jurassic world is awesome.
Parenthood
Brief encounter
Tremors (just love it)
Footloose
Steel magnolias
Any film Alan rickman has been in😀

I remember choreographing a whole dance routine to 'Everything I do' one night, when I was supposed to be in bed. It had come on tv downstairs and my DF had turned the volume up. It involved a lot of spinning and air grabs. Very dramatic. I was about 9 or 10 btw, this wasn't last week. Grin

Auldspinster · 24/04/2017 23:48

I had the joy of letting Matthew Modine know on Twitter how much I loved Memphis Belle.

Goodythreeshoes · 24/04/2017 23:48

Railway Children - the original one.
Fortunately it pops up regularly on the TV once a year so I can get my fix of 'Daddy, my Daddy'

Holliewantstobehot · 24/04/2017 23:53

The first wives club is one of my all time favourite films. Also any film with an underdog like the Antonio banderas film where he teaches ballroom dancing in a school.

8misskitty8 · 25/04/2017 00:14

I have a few favourites from different eras.

Big business with Bette milder.
White chicks, seen it loads and still lol at it. ( not a very pc film but so funny)
Grease 1 and 2
Mannequin
Marvel movies.

But favourite film ever is I married a witch with Veronica lake. Old Black and white film which I loved when I saw it on tv.
My Dh got it imported from America when we got married on vhs as it wasn't available in the U.K. (Now got a DVD version)

Willow2017 · 25/04/2017 00:15

Oh lord 'Daddy my Daddy' does it for me every sodding time...I start as soon as the train starts pulling into the station Smile

I forgot 'Phillidelphia' another tissue fest.

PopTheDragon · 25/04/2017 01:30

The Mexican or an affair to remember Blush

LadySalmakia · 25/04/2017 07:57

I'm with you OP. Robin Hood all the way. Also a big Princess Bride fan - we had Fairytale Story as we walked out of the registry office (I didn't dare suggest Everything I Do - DH would have refused and it is a tad embarrassing!)

LadySalmakia · 25/04/2017 07:58

...Storybook Love. Oh bugger. Whatever it's called.

My best friend's wedding.

I pretend I'm not interested whenever it's on tv but am secretly following every word. Blush

TheTabardOfDoom · 25/04/2017 16:18

Letter to Brezhnef. I am word perfect, even the accents Grin I love this film so much.

MusicToMyEars800 · 25/04/2017 16:42

Tremors
Die Hard
Mean girls
The Wedding date
The breakfast club
Revenge of the bridesmaids
Mannequin
My best friends wedding
most of the marvel movies
and just about anything Quentin Tarantino and Tim Burton

MusicToMyEars800 · 25/04/2017 16:45

oh I forgot, Lord of the rings

Zaphodsotherhead · 25/04/2017 16:46

Monty Python and the Holy Grail.

Michael Palin was rather beautiful, and the whole thing makes me laugh like a drain even now. The kids and I all quote long sections to one another, and 'your mother was a hamster and your father smelled of elderberries' is the BEST INSULT EVER!

Not ashamed.

TheTabardOfDoom · 25/04/2017 16:49

Jean De Florette will make you cry. Proper sobbing. The book will also make you cry. Sad

MrsD28 · 25/04/2017 16:56

LOVE Robin Hood - Alan Rickman is amazing in it.

27 Dresses - DH teases me about how much I love it (but also once told me that Iook a bit like Katherine Heigl - I don't, sadly - so he gets away with it Smile)

Kiss Me Kate - like PP have said, love anything with Howard Keel

But my all time favourite.... The Cutting Edge (about an ice hockey player and a figure skater who team up for the Olympics - great sports movie montage)

derxa · 25/04/2017 17:05

Uncle Buck RIP John Candy Sad

Ironfloor · 25/04/2017 17:06
