Robin Hood. Prince of thieves.

I just love it.

My best ever present was when DH bought me the video. He put the DVD in my stocking at Christmas last. I may have cried a bit.
The Bryan Adams song makes me fill up every time.

I am ashamed that I have just written this and my favourite film isn't something intelligent and high brow but I am a bit post-nights-deletions and I have had wine.

Yy to the Twilight Saga films, I loved the books too! Grin

PuppyMonkey · 24/04/2017 20:08

My favourite film is Armageddon - I won't apologise.

Maroonie · 24/04/2017 20:09

I cry with happiness at the end of never ending story
And cry with sadness when artax dies

The Wicked Lady- 1940s version. It's perfect and terrible at the same time and I know it off by heart.

Arkengarthdale · 24/04/2017 20:10

I saw Robin Hood in the cinema when it first came out, must have seen it four or five times. The audience applauded every time King Richard came home! It was a fab experience and it's been one of my favourite films since.

I've just got the 25 anniversary edition of The Commitments which will be tonight's viewing pleasure.

My other absolute fave is Local Hero

KavvLar · 24/04/2017 20:11

Yes to Princess Bride! Love it.

feellikeanalien · 24/04/2017 20:12

Gone With the Wind. My all time favourite, all four hours if it.

It would have been even longer if they had stuck exactly to the book!

Summerisdone · 24/04/2017 20:17

I agree with majority of the films already mentioned above, a very good selection.

One of my favourite films apart from Dirty Dancing obviously is Green Street. The moment the song 'One Blood' starts near the end, I'm in floods Blush

elQuintoConyo · 24/04/2017 20:17

"God bless you, Fanny" Grin

I love it too! And Lost Boys, Menphis Belle, Devil's Advocate ("Kevin, it wun't the waaaaahn!"), Dearh Becomes Her, Some Like it Hot, Operation Petticoat (terribly sexist film, pink submarine, Tony Curtis and Cary Grant), The Party (Peter Sellers).

Local Hero for me too and I don't even know why, I just love it!

Top Gun saw me through the worst 6 mths of my life and I'll be forever indebted to TC for that.

I also love young Kevin Costner, when he does that weird lickylippy thing of his.

And I make dp sit through First Knight every single time it's on.

TinklyLittleLaugh · 24/04/2017 20:23

Mine is Spartacus, the original Kirk Douglas one. I saw it at the cinema when I was about 5 and absolutely cried my eyes out. I love the music and the cinematography. I also think it made me grow up thinking love is about stolen glances and is ultimately doomed.

Got loads of stick about it from my film buff friends until they realised it was directed by Stanley Kubrik. So apparently it's cool then? Hmm. Deeply saddened to read that Kirk Douglas was apparently a monster. I have loved him since I was little.

TinklyLittleLaugh · 24/04/2017 20:25

Allegretto. I love Wicked Lady, or anything with James Mason in really.

VisionsofJohanna · 24/04/2017 20:26

I'm so happy mine is already on here thanks to LoupGarou Grin
Seven Brides for Seven Brothers. A film in which heavily bearded men steal women from the local town to marry: the women are mostly fine with this, do all the housework Confused and then there's a barn dance.

AndNoneForGretchenWieners · 24/04/2017 20:26

Four Weddings and a Funeral. Not even sorry.

MamaHanji · 24/04/2017 20:29

Labyrinth. I once watched it 7 times in one day. It was a very good day.

And Robin Hood is fantastic. Alan Rickman is the most incredible actor. And i always wanted to live in a secret tree top village!

BeMorePanda · 24/04/2017 20:30

Bridesmaids.😀

And the original Rocky Horror Picture Show.

🧀🧀🧀🧀

MollyCule · 24/04/2017 20:30

I love Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves! Particularly love how Kevin Costner didn't even attempt a British accent. And Alan Rickman is just awesome.

KurriKurri · 24/04/2017 20:30

Easter Parade - love it, most feel good film ever.

Maudlinmaud · 24/04/2017 20:31

The quiet man. God how I love John Wayne.

StylishDuck · 24/04/2017 20:31

Cool Runnings. My go-to film when I'm not feeling well and just want to cheer myself up. Never gets old!

user1492362793 · 24/04/2017 20:32

Pretty Woman. PerfectSmile. DH hates it!!!

cakesonatrain · 24/04/2017 20:32

Bring It On Blush
And there's a musical! I'm not sure who I will be able to persuade to go with me...

I love Princess Bride too, but I'm not remotely ashamed of that.

HandbagCrazy · 24/04/2017 20:33

YY to A Knights Tale, Armageddon and Sister Act 2.

I also love 10 things I hate about you and the Patriot (I may have a HUGE soft spot for Heath Ledger)
Oh and Calamity Jane if I want to sing along Blush

BenLinusatemyhomework · 24/04/2017 20:35

Yy to lots on here but I'm going to throw in While You Were Sleeping as the perfect rom com.
