My favourite ever (and perhaps a little embarrassing) film, ever.........

Robin Hood. Prince of thieves.

I just love it.

My best ever present was when DH bought me the video. He put the DVD in my stocking at Christmas last. I may have cried a bit.
The Bryan Adams song makes me fill up every time.

I am ashamed that I have just written this and my favourite film isn't something intelligent and high brow but I am a bit post-nights-deletions and I have had wine.

Truly, Madly, Deeply.
Rebecca, the old B&W version. Mrs Danvers is so deliciously evil!

Blithe Spirit
The original Disney Cinderella
The Tamarind Seed, brilliant 70s Cold War thriller with Omar Sharif and Julie Andrews in her first non goody-goody role.
Many others I can't think of now...

The Godfather and Scarface are classics, not embarrassing at all!

10 Things I Hate About You is brilliant though, especially for the line "Ah! That'll be Nigel with the brie!" :)

Also partial to highlander, it's a guilty pleasure

caz323 · 25/04/2017 19:27

A film from the 80's called Love with a perfect stranger - have yet to meet anyone else who has heard of it. Starred Daniel Massey as the Lord of the Manor & Marilu Henner from Taxi. Straight out of a Mills & Boon, but my DM & I loved it.

PrecookedSprout · 25/04/2017 19:29

Music and Lyrics with Hugh Grant and Drew Barrymore. I don't even particularly like Hugh Grant normally.

Arkengarthdale · 25/04/2017 19:35

Oh yes, Highlander! Still quote from it. A lot! Even called my dog Heather so I could shout 'Heatherrrr'

nicenewdusters · 25/04/2017 19:36

Trading Places. Should be awful, and is a bit dated, but it always makes me laugh.

Agree with pp about Green Card. Generally don't like films with Andie MacDowall in, but love this film. Had a dream about Gerard D after watching it the first time ! Try to forget this when I see pictures of him now.

Shawshank Redemption. I always think "not again" when I see it's on, then end up staying up late to watch it, crying my eyes out at the end when Red and Andy hug on the beach.

Leaving Las Vegas. Not a Nicholas Cage fan but he is amazing in this film. It makes me cry and shout at the tv, and although I know he won't be able to stop drinking himself to death a little part of me hopes each time he will.

Uncle Buck. My desert island film.

I adore Robin Hood PoT too. I'm 39, my brother is 35 and we can still recite all the words, much to our OHs embarrassment! I also love Home Alone and Home Alone 2. Again my brother and I know all the words and as kids we would act out scenes and fought over who would be Kevin! We watch both of them every Christmas without fail. I became obsessed with New York after watching Home Alone 2 and desperately wanted to go so I could visit all the locations featured in the film. I remember being most upset when I found out Duncan's Toy Chest didn't actually exist!

metalmum15 · 25/04/2017 20:47

The Lost Boys. Cheesy 80's, but to me Kiefer Sutherland is still the only vampire worth shagging.

WhispersFFSunderBreath · 25/04/2017 21:02

Rocky Horror
The Sweetest Thing
Adventures in Babysitting
Can't Buy Me Love
How to Lose a Guy In 10 Days

LadyOfTheCanyon · 25/04/2017 21:31

LoupGarou Yes!!! Love love love Seven Brides for Seven Brothers! I'm word perfect on all the songs apart from the drippy one where Howard Keel sleeps in the tree outside the window.
My friend and I used to practise the barn dance sequence in my front room until we were pretty damn good at it ( I was always Dorcas because it was MY video Grin)

Munted · 25/04/2017 21:41

Mine isn't embarrassing, it's cool - Dazed and Confused. Featuring a superbly-cast Matthew McConnaghy and a very young Ben Affleck. It makes me all nostalgic for the high school years and the last day of school - even though mine was NOTHING like that.

Also, Adventures in Babysitting (my first ever fave), Dirty Dancing, Neverending Story, Princess Bride and Labyrinth.

Honourable mention also to the Jason Bourne films. LOVE Matt Damon in those and I can watch them over and over without getting bored. And the Moby theme tune makes it.

I love Blood vows : The story of a mafia wife. It makes me mad and cry like a baby all at the same time.

I managed to track down a tape of the film about 19 years ago and have also about 14 years ago managed tonsource an out of print dvd. I just love it.
