What is the most overrated film you've ever seen? Can I suggest Her?

WTF was that about? It's taken me weeks to watch it. It was up for Oscars as well.

Oh no, it arrived the other day from Lovefilm!

Weelass83 · 04/01/2015 22:00

Trainspotting!

AlpacaPicnic · 04/01/2015 22:03

American Hustle.
American snore fest more like... Only likeable character in it was the 'bad guy'

ElviraCondomine · 04/01/2015 22:04

Philadelphia. One of the few films I have not watched to the end once I started. Turgid obvious hand-wringing and not a patch on Longtime Companion, which I saw several years before.

dorasee · 04/01/2015 22:05

Thank you!! I saw this in the cinema and felt embarrassed by the 'intimate' scene... the one where it goes all black and you hear them. And that scene where they're having a picnic with the other couple! My Lord, I cringed through the whole thing but that scene was just so silly.
There's a human couple and then some guy with his girlfriend/ iPod nano 4th generation.
It was just so corny!!

EachandEveryone · 04/01/2015 22:06

Oh American Hustle is another one I have paused. About three weeks ago. It won't beat me.

There Will Be Blood. "Ham"iel Day Lewis overacting as only he can. We had gotten a babysitter to see it in the cinema as it had such rave reviews. It was utter shite and we both felt cheated.

LouiseBrooks · 04/01/2015 22:06

Out of Africa. The only decent thing about it was Michael Kitchen and he died.

sleepwhenidie · 04/01/2015 22:06

Interstellar, utterly ridiculous. I defy anyone to explain the plot properly!

GooodMythicalMorning · 04/01/2015 22:07

Brokeback mountain. I'll never get those hours back.

EachandEveryone · 04/01/2015 22:07

Who was the woman he was with at the end? I'd given up by then. His friends never even flinched!

Citizen Kane

lollygagger · 04/01/2015 22:08

Oh no Louise , I love Out of Africa! It's a true story and their romance seemed so believable and tragic.

LineRunner · 04/01/2015 22:10

Avatar. Took the kids. Fortunately I sneaked in some miniatures to keep me going.

flipchart · 04/01/2015 22:10

I went to the cinema to see ' Her'. My friend laughed all the way through (not in a good way)

I went to see A Theory of Everything. I thought the acting was awesome but the actual story was ok. I think because the most people know the story of Stephen Hawking so there are no twist or surprises so perhaps this maybe my over hyped film of 2015!

GooodMythicalMorning · 04/01/2015 22:11

Oh and Australia.

eddiemairswife · 04/01/2015 22:11

Titanic. It was so long and drawn out I thought it would never end. Not a patch on A Night to Remember.

SmatteringOfPatois · 04/01/2015 22:12

Beverley Hills Cop (I'm ancient btw). Axel bloody Eddie Murphy, sheesh it was dire and I'm obviously carrying the baggage of it all these years Grin.

TooManyDicksOnTheDancefloor · 04/01/2015 22:14

The thin red line- boring, boring, boring.

RedTinsel · 04/01/2015 22:16

I love Out of Africa.

Someone beat me to Brokeback Mountain. I get the story, tragic love and all that. Gorgeous scenery, beautifully shot, blah blah.
But, not much happens. I've no idea what Heath ledger is saying for about 75% of the film.

And Love Actually. I can't see why it inspires so much love, it's terrible.

tilliebob · 04/01/2015 22:19

Frozen ConfusedConfused
Lost in Translation
Some crap with Ben Affleck in it - only film I've ever actually walked out of maybe all his films are the same

WetAugust · 04/01/2015 22:22

most recent was The a Interview. That's the Sony one that all the North Korea fuss has been about

Juvenile unfunny shouty American crap

Redhead11 · 04/01/2015 22:23

Titanic. they could have told the whole story more believably in 20 minutes and had Rose fall for a real man! Too many hours of my life were wasted there.

Saving Private Ryan - by the time they stormed the beaches, i hoped the guy was already dead. who cared? Not me.

WetAugust · 04/01/2015 22:24

Australia

Training Day

2001 A Space Odyssey

Most films that get Oscars

Sparklingbrook · 04/01/2015 22:24

Frozen. It's terrible.
