What is the most overrated film you've ever seen? Can I suggest Her?

WTF was that about? It's taken me weeks to watch it. It was up for Oscars as well.

Is American Hustle really no good? I've been waiting ages for that to come on Lovefilm.

vestandknickers · 04/01/2015 23:18

I agree with those who have said Frozen.

Can I ad American Beauty. Pile of pretentious crap.

Rattitude · 04/01/2015 23:20

Actually, I liked Lost in Translation but was unimpressed by Her.

Under the Skin (with Scarlett Johansson too) was my worst film in 2014 (possibly even my worst ever). I did not walk out of the cinema but I should have.

guinnessgirl · 04/01/2015 23:21

Ferris Bueller's Day Off. Everyone told me to watch it, couldn't believe i'd never seen it, kept quoting lines from it. Finally watched it a couple of years ago and didn't find it even slightly funny. What a total and utter arrogant, self obsessed cock Ferris Bueller is. I just don't get the hype Confused

Rattitude · 04/01/2015 23:21

I agree that American Beauty was shit too.

Hobbitwife001 · 04/01/2015 23:21

Inception ( duh! I don't get it !)

Becca19962014 · 04/01/2015 23:22

Melancholia worst by far.

DeloresDeSyn · 04/01/2015 23:23

Gravity, we watched the entire thing with our 'WHAT?!' faces frozen on.

GooodMythicalMorning · 04/01/2015 23:26

Yes to Gravity. Like armageddon but with all the good bits taken out. Its such a pointless film.

TheNumberfaker · 04/01/2015 23:31

I agree about There Will Be Blood. The first bit with no dialogue especially!

flipchart · 04/01/2015 23:39

Black Swan was the biggest pile of tish, I've ever seen.
I get it was a psychological drama. I just hated every single second I was there and should have trusted my instincts about highly promoted films that are filmed at the Vue!

bluecheque4595 · 04/01/2015 23:44

I watched "Her" I thought about it a lot afterwards and decided the problem with this film was the tone of it. It was melancholy and ponderous and deep when it should have been a knockabout comedy. Think of the dialogue. "How many other men are you in a relationship with?" "Ten thousand four hundred and twenty three." That is some funny shit!

Watched "Interstellar" in an Imax. What a massive load of arse. Much like the characters we felt as if time passed very slowly during the film. I came out fully expecting to have missed about twenty years of my kids lives.

It was so pointless. And the blatant favouritism the dad shows to his bratty daughter made my blood boil. The son dutifully runs the farm, the som stays in touch with the films to his dad in the space ship, the daughter blanks him and doesnt send messages, the son names his own kid after dad. And who does the dad care about and want to see again? The bratty daughter! I call bullshit.

flipchart · 04/01/2015 23:45

I see a lot of people slating Frozen.
Ok it's never going to be on my list of top 1000 films of the 21st century but I do think we should remember it is aimed at kids and brings a lot of pleasure to many many children.

I work with children with disabilities and our school has done a lot of projects around Frozen and it is quite emotional to see the amount of joy that film brings to all the children of both sexes. Our choir sing and use Makaton so to see the songs from Frozen signed by them is truly heart warming.

DilysMoon · 04/01/2015 23:49

The Royal Tennenbaums. One that was out this summer a musical type similar to mama mia. Can't remember the name, it was hilarious it was so bad.

bluecheque4595 · 04/01/2015 23:51

RedTinsel you can get American Hustle from Lovefilm. I rented it but only got about ten minutes in. Like most hustle movies, none of the characters are likeable so I gave up. The facial hair and seventies garb is a bit eurghhh.

vestandknickers · 04/01/2015 23:52

Flipchart I don't think Frozen is any better or worse than any other Disney film, but I resent the marketing hype and the fact that schools take the easy option of thinking all children like it. My daughter loves Star Wars and doesn't get the whole Frozen thing, but has to keep pretending to fit in with her friends.

Megglevache · 05/01/2015 00:00

Her was DREADFUL . I'd rather clean toilets for 90 minutes flat than watch that caca. Ditto Blair Witch

EachandEveryone · 05/01/2015 00:03

Can I throw Gone Girl into the mix?

catslave · 05/01/2015 00:08

Rattitude Under the Skin was truly, truly the worst thing I have ever watched in my life... How many minutes of watching her driving round in a van in thrush-inducing 80s jeans? No wonder she didn't have camel toe though Smile

Megglevache · 05/01/2015 00:08

Showgirls
The happening

Gangs of New York. Truly dreadful!

EachandEveryone · 05/01/2015 00:11

Trivia. My cousin was Scarlett's body double in Under her Skin!
