What is the most overrated film you've ever seen? Can I suggest Her?

WTF was that about? It's taken me weeks to watch it. It was up for Oscars as well.

Lost in Translation is one of my favourite films. Am I... An arse? Oh God, you're always the last one to know!

Rattitude · 05/01/2015 00:25

Each, your cousin was the best bit of the film. Wink

LauraPashley · 05/01/2015 00:44

I love lost in translation Blush

Amibambini · 05/01/2015 01:51

There Will Be Blood, Brokeback Mountain, The Assasination of Jesse James, I really enjoyed those films! But I quite like quiet films with epic cinematography. And Jake Gyllenhall. Hmmmmmmmmmm.

Agree to American Hustle. Mumble mumble mumble.

emotionsecho · 05/01/2015 02:17

Australia
Pearl Harbour
Black Hawk Down

Gave up about 20 minutes into each of those.

There Will be Blood
Valley of Elah (?)

Stuck it out to the end of those two, don't know why, wish I hadn't bothered and won't ever watch either again.

emotionsecho · 05/01/2015 02:19

Oh forgot one - Inception, couldn't make it past the first 10 minutes.

emotionsecho · 05/01/2015 02:27

I think GahLinDah is right, nothing will come close to the sheer awfulness of 50 Shades, it will leave that crap film with Demi Moore and a vaseline smeared Burt Reynolds trailing in it's wake.

OneHorseOpenSandwich · 05/01/2015 02:32

Agree with Eyes Wide Shut
Also War Horse which was turned into a mushy cheese-fest and I was very sad about

And Australia (dulll)

IHeartChristmasMoomies · 05/01/2015 02:35

Oh god Brokeback Mountain.

I went to see it with a gay (male) friend and we cringed the whole way through. The story was rubbish - and how about making Jake Gyllenhaal look older with the addition of a shit mustache?!

I liked Gravity.

MrFMercury · 05/01/2015 02:35

The English Patient, Blue Jasmine, The Avengers and Pain & Gain.
No idea what they were aiming for but I maintained a WTF face during all of them.

snowspot · 05/01/2015 02:48

Just went and saw 'Into The Woods' as a treat with the kids. It's really well recommended by the critics on RottenTomatoes.

Blimey - that was hard work. The music is so tuneless that you felt sorry for the actors trying their best. And the worst part is, it seems to end half way through but then goes on warbling and being shite for another eternity.

I highly recommend avoiding at all costs.

Primadonnagirl · 05/01/2015 02:49

Gravity...was so looking forward to it but ended up laughing at how easy it is to apparently scoop your way across space..
Pulp Fiction...didn't have a clue what that was about
Blues Brothers..not funny at all
Gone Girl...dire but then so was the book
..I don't go to the cinema very often precisely because of my fear of being trapped watching a terribke film.DH on the other hand will happily watch any old shite

ChippingInLovesChristmasLights · 05/01/2015 02:49

Moulin rouge. Without a doubt the biggest pile of crap known to mankind.

Followed closely by the much acclaimed The English Patient.

Really enjoyed, though wasn't expecting to, Gravity.

Frozen. Not a patch on Tangled.

ChippingInLovesChristmasLights · 05/01/2015 03:08

Oh and how could I forget Atonement.

EachandEveryone · 05/01/2015 06:30

I loved Blue Jasmine!

BalloonSlayer · 05/01/2015 06:48

What about The Horse Whisperer?

Two hours of absolutely nothing happening bar a lens covered with vaseline lovingly scrutinising Kristin Scott Thomas with her head on one side, and a lot of whinnying.

(I saw a snatch of it on telly the other day and wasn't the young girl Scarlet Johansson???? Just askin' . . .)

It has the advantage that DH suggested it so if he EVER dares to criticise my choice of film I can bring out the big guns: "Boring? BORING? May I remind you of the Horse Bloody Whisperer that YOU chose and I had to sit through"

I think it was 10 years ago we watched it . . . Grin

CheerfulYank · 05/01/2015 07:16

What happened to a cat in Her?!

Slumdog Millionaire.

PunkrockerGirl · 05/01/2015 07:33

Mamma Mia. Utter drivel.

Beeblebum · 05/01/2015 07:38

Love Brokeback mountain, the scenery, the acting .... Everything.

Titanic was just awful, felt cheated that I watched all the way through. Gravity was dull.

TheNumberfaker · 05/01/2015 07:43

Royal Tenenbaums was a pile of crap too. All those stars and it was not at all funny. Just weird.
I'm a bit of an ice maiden but The English Patient made me cry.

MuddhaOfSuburbia · 05/01/2015 07:46

Another vote for Frozen

I have a theory as to why it's been such q juggernaut of a hit

It's because Disney is sooooo shit compared with what it used to be that, when they come up with something half way decent, everyone goes bananas

The film's ok, I'll give you that, but the songs are BOBBINS

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 05/01/2015 07:48

12 years a slave. Overblown turgid grimness.

InanimateCarbonRod · 05/01/2015 07:52

I'm judging everyone....
