DS head teacher making my anxiety sky rocket

MrsArchchancellorRidcully · 09/12/2021 11:50

I'll try to keep this brief. I am a member of a private closed group on fb. I use it to let of steam and rant about stuff that I'd never put on main fb. My account is private but I occasionally post on public groups but keep things very blasé.

I ranted on the private group about my DS being upset that his after school club was being cancelled till new year (an outdoor club at that).

I speculated on a friends post that schools may close early for Xmas again. But in a very innocuous way.

DS head (primary) has emailed me asking to call him about a social media post that's been brought to my attention. I've emailed back saying I'm really busy in work (I am) and can he email me his query.

' No' he emailed. 'Ring me In January!!!!'

I'm now so anxious about what he wants. I'm even nervous to post here in case his spies are out. I can't see what it could be as my rants are all on locked groups.

DH says ignore or just tell him my posts are personal to me and nothing to do with him.

Can anyone give me some reassurance?

@Cyrilgoggin

I agree, I only get anxious about calls if there’s a reason to be… and this instance I would be anxious

UpsilonPi · 10/12/2021 08:24

There are more than 15000 people in UsForThem. Not exactly a safe space for a rant.

Sherrystrull · 10/12/2021 09:25

Why is it ok for you to call the head names on social media but him not to ask you to talk to him about it?

Why were you posting about schools closing early 'again' for Christmas? Schools didn't close early for Christmas last year.

The pandemic is far from over. The disruption it is causing to schools is massive. Staff are trying their absolute best.

Whinging about a football club not running for a week is ridiculous. The sports coach may have covid! Take your child to the park!

Alltheblue · 10/12/2021 11:05

It sounds like us for them is a rather toxic hobby which involves a lot of puerile mud slinging at hard working professionals by people who profess to be doing it all for the children but then don't have the guts to be accountable for what they've said.

There are different, better ways to help children but doubtless not as fun as a good gossip.

If you can't stand behind something you've said to the person's face and be an adult about it, you probably shouldn't have said it.

Ah. I see the usual MN has turned this into a covid debate as per....,,..🙄🙄
  1. I did not say football had been closed for a week. It has been closed until NEXT YEAR.
  1. This was NEVER a debate about covid and school policies. I was deliberately vague to try and avoid that. I am and always have been a fervent supporter of UsForThem. I believe in them and they have helped my mental health significantly. I believe and always will believe that covid is an adults only illness (thank god). That children need normality and UsForThem are working hard to make that happen. My DS told me he wanted to die in lockdown. My teenage Dd self harmed earlier this year. Their mental health has suffered WAY more than they would ever suffer from covid. DS has spent the past 2 years sleeping in my room on the floor as he couldn't be alone.
I am triple jabbed but my DS will never get the covid vaccine.

Glad that's made clear. Now shut up about flamin covid. This post IS NOT in AIBU it's in mental health yet the covid obsessives turned it into a debate it never should have been. This is a reason I have moved away from MN

But for those interested it appears the issue is resolved. It is clear from info received the head has not seen the football club posts. There is no spy. It's all to do with a very innocent comment on a friend's fb post that the school may close early for Xmas with no name calling etc.

On that note, I shall ignore his demand and enjoy my Xmas.

Thanks witches of MN NOT!!!

Oh @Sherrystrull our school closed a whole week early for Xmas last year. So yes many did.

And one more thing @Sherrystrull when your son has played at Liverpool Academy TWICE, his level of skill really doesn't merit his mum taking him to the park. He needs much more coaching than that. His coach is also his form teacher and he is perfectly well. And if you'd ever taken a football in the leg from my son, I can assure you you wouldn't want to stand in front of him!! 😂😂

I couldn't care less if your son has played for Liverpool. You can't call the headteacher names on social media and call mental health issues when someone calls you out on it. Seriously grow up.

CallmeHendricks · 10/12/2021 16:58

I dont actually think the fact that it's not about your posts on UsforThem changes much here.

Tippexy · 10/12/2021 17:10

I believe and always will believe that covid is an adults only illness

Wow. Shock Children have died from it, how can you say that?

I have reported your personal attack on @Cyrilgoggin.

converseandjeans · 10/12/2021 17:12

Agree with noblegiraffe

Good to see Us4Them being called out as the vile, dangerous, political lobbyists that they are.

Having seen how venomous and abusive they can be on public social media (piling on headteachers on twitter, calling them child abusers for implementing masks, for example), one can only imagine what a cesspit their 'closed private facebook group where they feel safe to vent' is.

It sounds like footie club has been cancelled for a couple of weeks if it is last week until after Christmas? So not exactly long considering two weeks are hols.

There could be various reasons it's been cancelled & you're jumping to conclusions.

Closing schools was never about protecting school staff - rather avoiding community transmission.

Nothing on FB is ever secret & I'm surprised you thought it was. I keep drumming into my kids that they should never post anything online nor send on messenger or WhatsApp anything they wouldn't want me or their teacher to see. Boris' WhatsApp messages were leaked - so if even Boris can't have a private chat it is unlikely we can

converseandjeans · 10/12/2021 17:13

Also surely if your son is academy level an after school kickabout isn't going to be a huge deal?

Lou98 · 10/12/2021 17:17

I believe and always will believe that covid is an adults only illness (thank god).

Ignorance is bliss eh OP? Perhaps if you had seen your/family children in a hospital bed suffering with covid and still a year on having complications with their lungs you would think differently - but as long as your son gets to carry on playing football, who cares eh?

saraclara · 10/12/2021 17:18

OMG

If he's that good, I think he can cope without two or three sessions of school football club. Good try with your NOT UNTIL NEXT YEAR! though. You seem to be underestimating the intelligence of MNers who know that there's only one more week of school after this one.

FrownedUpon · 10/12/2021 17:18

You sound like a nightmare. If you’re brave enough to slate someone on social media, you should be brave enough to speak to their face. I hate parents like you, always causing trouble behind school’s back.

Piggywaspushed · 10/12/2021 17:20

If he really is that talented at football he does need school football coaching, to be honest.

Piggywaspushed · 10/12/2021 17:20

DOESN'T

Sherrystrull · 10/12/2021 17:22

@saraclara

I'm counting the days!!!

Piggywaspushed · 10/12/2021 17:24

It's all to do with a very innocent comment on a friend's fb post that the school may close early for Xmas with no name calling etc.

So it was innocent and easily resolved as many of us said.

Still shouldn't be calling the head names - ex governor especially.

lebkuchenforxmas · 10/12/2021 17:29

@MrsArchchancellorRidcully
Has the headteacher said that he wants to speak to you about your post? How do you know that someone hasn't posted something on FB about you or your son, it has been brought to the HT's attention and he wants to discuss it with you?

Helpstopthepain · 10/12/2021 17:43

I believe in them and they have helped my mental health significantly

I’m not sure they have.

As for covid being an adult only illness??? You what bruv? You okay hun?

Lastly if your son is that amazing he will cope until after Christmas won’t he!

This is the biggest pile of BS that I’ve read in a long time.

OnceuponaRainbow18 · 10/12/2021 17:49

@MrsArchchancellorRidcully

Maybe the teacher doesn’t want to run an after school club as they are in the verge of a burn out.

The last 4 weeks I have lost my 3 PPAs each week due to emergency cover… I wouldn’t then want to run an after school club when I’m giving up my protected PPA time to keep kids in lessons.

MrsArchchancellorRidcully · 10/12/2021 18:23

@converseandjeans

Also surely if your son is academy level an after school kickabout isn't going to be a huge deal?
Durrrrrr. You don't know how football works at that level eh??

For my sons school at least half a dozen boys play for professionals academies (incl my boy) and so they play for school teams so to get selected for the county. And so on. And it's been no football for at least 4 weeks so far with a vague commitment of it returning 'at some point'. In the meantime the rest of the primaries crack on with their own football and into county level. The girls netball training has been cancelled till MAY!!!!!!!!
