DS head teacher making my anxiety sky rocket

I'll try to keep this brief. I am a member of a private closed group on fb. I use it to let of steam and rant about stuff that I'd never put on main fb. My account is private but I occasionally post on public groups but keep things very blasé.

I ranted on the private group about my DS being upset that his after school club was being cancelled till new year (an outdoor club at that).

I speculated on a friends post that schools may close early for Xmas again. But in a very innocuous way.

DS head (primary) has emailed me asking to call him about a social media post that's been brought to my attention. I've emailed back saying I'm really busy in work (I am) and can he email me his query.

' No' he emailed. 'Ring me In January!!!!'

I'm now so anxious about what he wants. I'm even nervous to post here in case his spies are out. I can't see what it could be as my rants are all on locked groups.

DH says ignore or just tell him my posts are personal to me and nothing to do with him.

Can anyone give me some reassurance?

They seem to miss the point that schools won't be normal when all the staff are off with covid.

heymammy · 10/12/2021 19:55

@thedefinitionofmadness

I'd email him and say you are not available for phone calls, anything he wants to say he can put in writing. Who does he think he is, and why are you terrified?
I would do exactly this as well. Head teacher is treating you like a naughty pupil which you are not. It doesn't sound like you've said anything too terrible so pull your drawers up and ask him to put his issue in writing and you will respond when things quieten down at work.

Ignore me...I missed the last page of comments and see its nothing to worry about

Yes I wonder if the us4them will come into a packed classroom on a Friday afternoon to help out if we're short staffed? I reckon they would love my crazy year 8s 🙄

Maybe OP or her husband could run footie club until end of term?

@MrsArchchancellorRidcully
'I believe and always will believe that covid is an adults only illness'

Oh gosh, better go wake up my 3 year old who has been suffering from long covid (with no previous underlying health issues) since May to let her know Hmm

If only we could all be ignorant UfT supporters.

Belief is definitely the basis upon which to run policy. I mean if your chief advisor believes in the power of prayer we should rely on that. Or if you believe that disease is caused by miasma we should all just wear silly face masks with beaks stuffed full of herbs and light bonfires in the street.

And if you put yourself forward to be a governor of a professional institution but believe you have the right to imply on facebook that it is going to close early or that it's CEO is a dementor then that is fine too so long as you believe it is.

And if you believe that your reaction to being caught out being unprofessional and totally irresponsible is ok then it just is and if anyone confronts you with reality then you can just believe it's your anxiety, not your behaviour, that has caused the problem.

Alltheblue · 10/12/2021 23:16

Well this has all been a great advertisement for us for them.

What is it they do exactly in addition to calling their children's service providers nasty names?

TooBigForMyBoots · 11/12/2021 01:04

You made the right decision stepping away from the BofG @MrsArchchancellorRidcully. Sounds like you have a lot on your plate. I can't help thinking that stepping away from social media would help too.Xmas Smile

Focus on your son, he has a lot going on with the football and 11+ in the middle of a pandemic.Xmas Shock

CallmeHendricks · 11/12/2021 09:17

Well, I reckon the OP fits right in over on UsforOurselves.

My advice, OP, would be to step right back from all types of social media including MN if you're so easily triggered to insulting people and concentrate on your own and your children's mental health. This sounds as if it is less to do with the Covid pandemic and its resulting restrictions and the cause perhaps lies elsewhere.

bigyellowtractorface · 11/12/2021 09:43

Bloody hell. Don't think you could have made yourself more identifiable via this thread. Think you will be getting another call/email, etc.

Have you thought about how you have discussed your children's mental health issues and inner most thoughts on here? They aren't consenting to having that broadcast all over the place.

You talk about having water tight fb settings but you clearly aren't as discreet as you think you are.

NeverDropYourMoonCup · 11/12/2021 09:45

Have you officially resigned and been taken off the GIAS list as a current governor? If not, you're still held to professional standards.

catfunk · 11/12/2021 10:25

Op if both of your children have MH issues then they need you to be strong stable and reasoned. Not tying yourself in knots over such batshittery and joining a far right group (that has well and truly pulled the wool over your eyes as to what they're about) what next for you - Q-Anon?
Get a grip.

AnkleDeep · 11/12/2021 10:59

You won't change my mind over UfT and what I believe so crack on if you have time to waste over your gins.

They say what you want to hear, of course you won't change your mind. You appear to be intellectually incapable of understanding basic science, though, which is a shame.

Mohammed Habib, 14, and Harry Towers, 15, were both studying for GCSEs at St John Fisher Catholic College in Newcastle-under-Lyme (pictured, main) when they caught Covid and died in October. Now a medical examination has found Mohammed died from a bleed on the brain following a stroke caused by the virus. It was also revealed that investigations were continuing into the death of Harry Towers (top right), who had also contracted coronavirus, who died on Saturday, October 30.

Sherrystrull · 11/12/2021 15:38

How awful. Those poor boys and their families.

VimFuego101 · 11/12/2021 16:26

Taking kids on a residential trip is the polar opposite of a holiday. More like a punishment.

OP, if your post on the FB group is anything like the way you post here then I'm not surprised you got the head teacher's back up.

luverlybubberly · 11/12/2021 16:34

For someone who says she is anxious and has mental health issues, you have no idea about how your language will be affecting other people's MH. Sad.
