Here's a new thread for us.

Good night all.

OP posts:
shodatin · 22/03/2012 20:48

I seem to have missed you upward, which is a shame.
(Also missed waited-for TV programme, as eyes closed).
I think your friend is worried for you, probably as she wouldn't know what to do or say if you told her what the voices were saying - it's out of the experience of most of us - but it's difficult to know what you could do about it.
Just for today, all you have to do is look after yourself,
(not too easy while ill and alone, but at least you have experience to help, and your wound is indeed much improved, it seems). Hope there's at least one HCP you feel you can be honest with about the voices, and that you can decide together what the next stage might be.

It does seem like a lovely evening, and would enjoy being on the beach with a fire and some friends, instead of being stuck indoors alone and wondering when I'll next nod off.

shodatin · 22/03/2012 22:22

This will be an early night. but hope not too many problems for other cybergardeners, and that the spoons will last until bedtime.
Also hope hob's MiL is still doing well at home, and that computer problems have been resolved again.

cityhobgoblin · 23/03/2012 01:32

sorry to have missed everyone tonight , earlier, whilst dormousing / being disorganised ... brilliant advice shodatin about upward's friend , and I hope s/he comes to understand your situation better

Hope you've had a good day , Nilgiri

shodatin · 23/03/2012 09:58

Another beautiful, sunny morning here, and managed to get car cleared (yesterday) and on drive ready for garage-man to collect for MOT, so please, dear cyber-gardeners, do the goaty-thing of crossing all paws that my dear old motor gets required paperwork, and without huge expense. Hair is still too damp to take down and brush out after glamourous night-time style, so am hoping garage will be a tiny bit late as style is really original.

Thanks hob for getting the summerhouse in order and providing hot chocolate for any visitors (like Nilgiri* who sometimes takes evening stroll and feeds has words with our adopted animals).

Hope your computer is in order again hob. Mine is once again doing the odd thing of not scrolling down from pad, only using right-hand-side will move page. Clever computer friend was baffled last time, so does anyone here know what I should do? Please?

cityhobgoblin · 23/03/2012 11:42

Hope resplendent hairdo was more acceptable to you by the time garage man arrived , shodatin.< tries not to peek next time >

Glorious summer-y sun here too , quite moving to see

h my goodness - afraid Dh is baffled too re scrolling problemSad I really would pluck up courage to ask in Geeky Stuff .. will see if anything comes up on search engines

You must be completely exhausted , upward - hope you won't be stuck in bed all day , but if you are , your rest will refresh you

< all pairs of paws crossed for shodatin's car >

shodatin · 23/03/2012 11:51

Hob, what would we do without you, coming up with brilliant ideas on an almost daily basis! Yes indeed, will search for MN Geeks (who are kinder than others when I don't know names of items).
Garage were half-hour late, which frequently happens, sometimes they say I've been forgotten and apologise, sometimes that they'd another to collect just a bit later and I shouldn't worry, but of course I do, and would have lots more small improvements done if not so stressful and unreliable. Will stop moaning now and search Geekland.

Upwardandonward · 23/03/2012 14:11

You are right re looking after oneself, shodatin

:( they wanted to admit me today but there were no beds.

OP posts:
cityhobgoblin · 23/03/2012 14:20

Oh (((((((upward)))) , you are so brave trying to be honest with staff about symptoms , and going to services , knowing they're being very cautious for you .
I know you need symptom relief but what a pity if it can't be done at home ... perhaps it can , though I'm sure professionals are only intending an extremely short admission .

You could do with a friend with you atm but I expect you don't want to "trouble" anyone ... you know this hateful period of trial and error will end with improvements . As shodatin says , life is not fair... we're all holding your hand < wipes clammy paw first >

Upwardandonward · 23/03/2012 15:11

Thanks hob

They wouldn't be drawn on length. I'm hoping med changes over the weekend will stop the thought of admission - I have to talk to the crisis team over the weekend, no choice.

OP posts:
shodatin · 23/03/2012 15:21

Hob seems to have said it all, upward, and am so sorry it looks like another admission to get the meds right. We do admire you for your attitude to this problem, which means having to put your life on hold while others make the right guesses for you, but they really must be getting very close to the right drugs now.

Once again, is there anything at all we can do to help, apart from sending you strength and good wishes?

Hob, one of our good geeky people answered my query, b ut afraid I'm no further forward, and DB's visit is postponed to next week. Might try turning it off and on again...

cityhobgoblin · 23/03/2012 15:33

Hi upward - sorry , must be very hard when they are being so cautious .That's good you're willing to try new meds at home . I did think they would want you to see one of the mh teams meantime

Sorry they feel they have to be non-commital as to possible length of stay , but really do think they're simply trying to keep your trust by being open to remote possibilities < stating the obvious >

Do you feel you are being heard clearly enough by your hcps at the moment ? Is there anyone who could saupport or advocate for you if you feel the need ?
Totally awed by your determination to be calm ... hang on in there , as they say xx

What comfort & strength you impart , shodatin - yes upward , please tell us if we can help in any way

Oh noooo at laptop problem ... I solve most 'pooter problems by switching of f & on againGrin

shodatin · 23/03/2012 16:40

At least no-one's insisting you have to be in hospital for med change now, and I think it's a good idea to have MH team on standby while you're experimenting with new one, so not really surprised it's been arranged. Look at it this way, maybe this weekend will be your last one with the crisis team, and it is only a couple of days...

Bad news here, no MOT .
Good news: Turning off machine has fixed scrolling problem.

Upwardandonward · 23/03/2012 17:12

Thanks for the kind offers, if there is I'll say. Good point re advocacy hob, it feels very lonely. I do hope this weekend med changes work quickly.

OP posts:
cityhobgoblin · 23/03/2012 20:08

< everything crossed for medication to take effect quickly >
Oh , sorry feels very lonelySad- can the ward help you contact the advocacy service , or do you have to do it yourself ? - I expect you can ask them for help . Would be so much better if you had someone supporting you through the parts where you feel there might be other options .

I inadvertently saw you giving excellent advice again on thread of someone in hospital - you deseve some support yourself

Brilliant to hear you'll say if we can help in any way - Brews with flumps

cityhobgoblin · 23/03/2012 20:13

Sorry shodatin , didn't erealised you'd posted

Oh misery & wretchedness at no MOT - what a problem . Are there any reparable faults or is it impossibly expensive ?

Glad scrolling problem stopped . Will dig out post I was about to post earlier when saw upward's news & it wasn't the right time to clog up the thread with chatter ( neither is it now , I guess )

Upwardandonward · 23/03/2012 20:47

Do post anything hob - distraction is good. It feels like everything keeps falling apart. I don't get how the dr can say what's in my head without me saying anything. I shouldn't see her again.

OP posts:
cityhobgoblin · 23/03/2012 21:20

Thanks ,upward ... Really sorry that's how it seems at the moment -so , so unfair but will get better

Sorry you had such an unsettling experience with the doctor but even I with my beliefs Smile don't think it can have been more than a coincidence that she seemed to knnow what was in your head . Do you think it may be a symptom of a blip , which will hopefully pass very soon again , (shodatin , I really like your latest advice ) Would be not the best time to decide not to see her again , when you';re feeling under the weather .

I wish we could help you feel safer and to stay at ghome , but of course the staff want you to feel better , & for you to be home as soon as posible

You're so innovative shodatin - am always amazed at the calm way you sort out repairs etc...it is much harder when live on your own & you can't ask other person to sort out dodgy phone line etc when you're not up to it.

Ah a pity the local garage is so eccentric that you can't really trust them noyt to leave you stranded if you ask for a small job dojone

I thought of shodatinwhen DM I asked DM what she'd like for her birthday & she mosestly said the Call the Midwife book/s Grin Have struggled to find other things but so pleased to see Past Times still trading if only as an internet business - I know it's not very classy but have always found things there for sentimental occasions < mind you ,I do still owe DM a g)

shodatin · 23/03/2012 21:24

Doctor has probably listened to dozens of people with voice problem upward, and will have good idea of what usually occurs next, particularly with specific meds. If she/he is usually correct, why not just listen then ask his/her opinion.
Sorry I don't feel very good just now - hope you're feeling better.

cityhobgoblin · 23/03/2012 22:07

You are brilliant , shodatin - good points .So sorry you're feeling rotten -nnothing to worry about , we hope - and hope too that you can sleep it off

cityhobgoblin · 24/03/2012 08:18

Morning all Brew Hope everyone had some much-deserved sleep , that shodatin is feeling a bit better and that the side effects of medication changes aren't too hideous , upward

Brews and hope that if you can't be out in the sunshine , upward , you'll still feel its optimistitic presence

< HF looks suspiciously at solar-powered dancing plastic flower in porch >

Upwardandonward · 24/03/2012 08:44

Thanks for all the wise advice, hob and shodatin It's very, very difficult at the moment I think (I want to tell the crisis team not to call or come, but that's not good to do). At least I can imagine HF and the plastic flower.

I hope you feel better this morning shodatin

cityhobgoblin · 24/03/2012 09:31

Thanks upward for making us feel useful when we wish we could really help

Thanks for revivingBrewSmile

Can only imagine how stressful the prospect of crisis team visit is when you're feelinng so carefully watched , so I hope they'll be as sensitive to your needs as possible
ThanksThanksThanksThanks for not telling them not to come

Hope you're not ill , shodatin , and that you won't be without transport < collective fretting >

HF is sitting under hedge glaring at next-door's -tom , who is hogging sunny patio and lying on his back on top of a bluebell clump ( between cracks [blush) ) , looking at humans from upside-down vantage point
( both enjoy competing for fuss and treats)

shodatin · 24/03/2012 11:10

Morning all, and apologies for delay in saying hello. Good to have news of cats enjoying warm weather, and suspect ndt likes the bluebells because they feel cool in the sun.
(Our beagle once dug a hole under a nearby tree at the boatyard, for same reason, but when he was not sitting in his hole, passing dogs would stop and sit there until called by owners, a very popular hole)
Had a difficult morning again, and although not actually sick this time, am convinced GP's diagnosis of a virus is wrong, and just want it to be over.
Car needs some welding it seems, just hope garage can fix it before end of month, but would have appreciated phone call earlier.

Weekend is probably half-way through upward, so not too long now to spend with MH Team, (and I gather they're always busy at weekends, so maybe you'll only have short visit/s). Is there anything enjoyable you could do with rest of the weekend?

cityhobgoblin · 24/03/2012 12:10

Oh how miserable for you , shodatin . Am sure GP will not insist on sticking blindly to virus diagnosis , but nausea has so many different causes ... (indeed, once had a virus which caused nausea for months ) Your attacks make me wonder about kidney "gravel" / stones , as Dh had similar before the characteristic colic made the cause obvious . .. they can often treat ito

There's gallbladder trouble , excess acid production , a sideeffect of medication- maybe your pain clinic could help keep you covered for pain relief if you needed a break from the only really good oneSad - could be any one of many minor ailments , but if you feel ill at thought of asking GP to consider some of them , we'll handhold through as much as we can

Saw on Thursday you wishing to be round a beach fire with friends instead of stuck indoors ... hope you can sit in shade , like your hilarious beagle with his community-minded cool spot
< ndt not keen on sharing but is working on it >

Will be out till this evening as stuck in a traffic jam visiting DM for her birthday Grin

Would be lovely if you could have pleasant distractions , upward- are you too tired etc , though Sad Excellent points again shodatin
