It's my fault that the NHS is too expensive

Ooh, awkward. Would they recognise the escort, do you think? Or just assume s/he was one a friend or carer?

shodatin · 02/03/2011 20:20

Glad you're back snowmash, and hope you're feeling better for the rest in bed. Hope you managed to catch up on sleep too, altho I guess its been a bit noisy on the ward.

TIANC, hope you warm up soon and are not too exhausted.
Can you have a lazy day tomorrow to recover?

snowmash · 02/03/2011 20:20

I don't know how they're doing it yet, but I usually wander round all hospitals alone - people would find it odd to see me with anyone at all.

OP posts:
shodatin · 02/03/2011 20:27

Do you know when it will be snowmash? It's just possible you won't see anyone you know, and most people in hospitals are wanting to either avoid acquaintances or tell them about the health problem, ie more interested in themselves - try not to worry.

snowmash · 02/03/2011 20:36

Let's just say it's like visiting a cake shop if I were a baker...

OP posts:
ThisIsANiceCage · 02/03/2011 20:54

Did someone say cake? Grin

Even if people clock that someone's accompanying you, they probably won't make the leap to "so it must be a compulsory escort from the psychiatric hospital".

Hmm, maybe give yourself a cover story at the back of your mind, just to stop that guilty "they know" feeling? Something like...
you're not feeling great at the moment, after all you were in for that 5-day inpatient thing a couple of weeks ago, so someone involved in your care is helping with transport.

Or... just for today s/he's been visiting a friend in the same hospital, and met up with you to go back together.

Thanks shodatin, yes, hope for slow day tomorrow, tho alas workman is due. Oh well.

snowmash · 02/03/2011 21:10

Hope your workmen aren't too early tianc. Yes, cover story good idea, just don't like lying, even white ones.

Can't cope with this place - hope everyone has good nights.

OP posts:
snowmash · 02/03/2011 22:36

Btw, this place=ward, not mnet! ;)

You are all v helpful

OP posts:
shodatin · 02/03/2011 23:35

Wish we could do something more to help, but you are doing really well under difficult circumstances.

You don't have to use cover story, just helps sometimes to have one available if necessary. I think you'll be too interested in being out to think about other people, when you're actually there. There's just a chance you'll be able to have a meal somewhere else,
and maybe a few minutes en route for a small shop....

Hope you have a good night too, and every one else.

ThisIsANiceCage · 03/03/2011 00:53

Thanks snowmash.

Hope we all get some sleep, and good luck for tomorrow.

shodatin · 03/03/2011 11:56

Morning all - hope all managed a good sleep, and particularly snowmash who probably needs it most.

Good luck is not with me today - have just received a parking ticket (first ever) for being in a loading area. T he one disabled spot was occupied, and I thought it was ok as I had both parts of blue badge displayed, but obviously not. This is a retirement area so one disabled space is not enough on the main shopping street. Grrr and to think I moved here to be within walking distance of everything and now virtually unable to walk anyway.

Hope others have had a better morning.

madmouse · 03/03/2011 12:17

Oh Shodatin what a PITA -that's the thing with blue badges - they can't clamp you but they can ticket you and they know how to use their ticket book!!

Next time on a double yellow instead of a loading bay then - at least you know it's legal Hmm

(Have a blue badge for ds)

shodatin · 03/03/2011 13:08

Thanks for commiserations and advice madmouse - the loading area is new to us village .yokels so I should have read up on it when it appeared instead of assuming it was safe for disabled shoppers. Still, it is actually only a small problem compared to what other people are dealing with (and I spoilt myself with another Thai lunch from freezer ,to compensate.

Hope you're ok snowmush, and hope the food was alright today, I do feel for you as I use food as a comfort, particularly when feeling unwell or stressed.

ThisIsANiceCage · 03/03/2011 13:19

Hey there.

What a bummer about the parking ticket, shodatin, that sort of thing is infuriating.

Hope things are going well for everyone apart from that today, and that snowmash's outing is going well.

Curled up with Brew waiting for workman to finish at the mo. Thankfully he doesn't start early (fits me around other stuff), so I had a nice slow start this morning.

madmouse · 03/03/2011 13:48

How are you today snowmash?

I've had an active morning - cycled 5 miles to my vocal teacher, did an hour of singing lessons, then cycled home again.

Thursday morning is my morning as I don't work and ds is picked up for special school at 8.30 and delivered again at 11.45 (he's 3). It used to be my therapy slot but I finished in December so singing lessons are a gift to myself (I've sung for many years and need rid of some bad habits) and also a way of doing some body work to heal further from the abuse. My teacher is a young professional singer and she's great.

shodatin · 03/03/2011 14:45

Hi TIANC, good to hear you're able to take it easy after yesterday's unpleasantness. I think sometimes I miss the odd post here, as I had no idea today was snowmash's day away from the ward and am not usually

too absent-minded once I've read something. Good idea to have singing lessons madmouse, I thought of it myself but am unable to sing in tune - it must be a great pleasure to sing well, and for the listeners too. Five miles is a good distance on a bike - does it help with breathing at class?

ThisIsANiceCage · 03/03/2011 14:53

Oh er, no that's actually me being wrong.Blush Just re-read and no actual date given for snowmash's outing.

I am queen of failing to Read The Question.Blush

kizzie · 03/03/2011 15:04

madmouse - how lovely having singing lessons Smile

Hi Snowmash xx

shodatin · 03/03/2011 15:10

Thanks TIANC, but as snowmash isn't here, maybe you're right about the date, and just having a psychic moment.
Hope our patient is alright (and managed some lunch).

ThisIsANiceCage · 03/03/2011 15:20

You are very kind, shodatin.Blush Ave a St Davids.

And a bunch for this thread's garden. St DavidsSt DavidsSt Davids

Hope today going OK wherever you spend it, snowmash.

shodatin · 03/03/2011 16:31

Lovely daffs for this thread's garden TIANC - we don't lose anything to the frost here, and nobody thieves our daffs and precious bay trees. Most days will be sunny I think, but sometimes we have rain at night, particularly when we've done some planting...
comes out of dream to make Brew

shodatin · 03/03/2011 19:56

My thoughts on this thread's garden seem to have finished off the thread, so please come back snowmash, and let us know what you've been doing today.
