Thanks @xraydelta - I have now signed up (I also get NHS discount so that was good).

The set up asks me if want to do fast 800 keto. Do I? I said no but I guess I can change that. I guess it refers to the carb content in the food. Is it better to do the keto version?

Have you ever done anything low carb before, @ladyandthechocolate ?

"Normal" Fast 800 is low carb, Keto is very (very) low carb and higher fats.

It can work faster in terms of weight loss, but the downside is you will most likely get side effects while your body gets used to it. It feels a bit like mild flu. It's even called keto flu 😆

A sensible thing to think about would be to buy some keto pee sticks from eBay for a couple of £ and then you can see how close to keto you get doing the normal Fast 800?

I am not doing strict keto. I have done before and I lose a lot fast, which is good for the morale. But it's too much for me 🙈

For me, normal Fast 800 and time restricted eating is my sweet spot. So I don't eat breakfast and stop eating before it gets too late on an evening.

Apologies if you have read/know all of this.

ladyandthechocolate · 23/02/2023 19:06

@xraydelta thanks. I dabbled with low carb once in the Atkins popularity phase once but it made me feel really really weak and super constipated so I sacked it off quite quickly.

I had thought that fast 800 was lowish carb but obviously the keto version is a hardcore version of that. When I read about fast 800 maybe last year I didn’t remember there being a keto version so maybe it’s a new variation (although low carbing as a concept obviously it’s new).
I think the regular version will suit me fine (hopefully)

xraydelta · 23/02/2023 20:28

You sound as if you are getting yourself all prepared @ladyandthechocolate 😁 You'll be great.

You can switch any of the meals around and change them. I favourite the ones I try and really like.

My absolute favourites are the beef stir fry, the green fritters (but just use one egg), the teriyaki salmon and stir fry veg, the Mediterranean mozzarella chicken, and the beef stroganoff.

My stand by quick meal is one of the omelettes or the pizza courgette.

I am weighing everything at the moment as I was eating too much before.

Anewagain · 24/02/2023 10:21

Big day for me - 30lbs down and so as of this morning I am no longer obese! I still have 2-3 stone to go but it feels good to be in the overweight category and edging closer towards healthy!

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 24/02/2023 11:34

Well done @Anewagain , that's brilliant! You've worked so hard and that's an incredible achievement!

Feeling low because I measured my waist yesterday and it's bigger than I thought. It's distinctly smaller than it was 6 weeks ago so it must have been huge then! No wonder a lot of my trousers didn't fit. I haven't done much exercise since I started, and I think exercise is what's missing to nip me in a bit. Just need to summon up some motivation...I go through phases with exercise where I can spend a few months doing work out videos or weights 3 or 4 times a week, but I've just lost it at the moment and I'm managing one class a week and nothing at home. I'm going to get up right now and find something on YouTube.

Anewagain · 24/02/2023 12:58

Thank you @TooExtraImmatureCheddar I feel so much better - it’s made such a big difference already in so many ways. I gave myself a bit of a scare in December when I realised just how much weight I’d put on.

I am sure you would find a dramatic difference in 6 weeks. I didn’t take measurements and wish I had.

Let us know if you find any workouts you’d recommend on YouTube. I never know where to start when it comes to looking.

SquidSquad · 24/02/2023 14:55

I’m very nervously stepping in! Would love to join in if that’s ok? I did Fast800 last summer inspired by mumsnet threads and lost about 1.5 stone. But the last few months have been rough and I have comfort-eaten and PILED on the pounds. I need to take Fast800 more seriously again.

Posting for accountability- and if you see me near the bread bin please stop me!

This is amazing!! Well done 👏
Do you have any tips for a beginner/returner?

Anewagain · 24/02/2023 17:42

Welcome back @SquidSquad . I have found the recipe books (Red & Blue) super helpful and cook something from them most days.

I don’t think I have much else by way of advice. I typically don’t have breakfast but wait and have lunch at 12 and then eat dinner before 8pm. I don’t snack outside of those meals but have been having milk in tea & coffee.

When I was getting started, I tried to limit social meals for a couple of weeks while I got going and that’s still my hardest thing - meals out or with friends.

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 24/02/2023 22:03

Hi @SquidSquad! I use the recipe books too - have just been following the meal plans in them so I don’t have to calorie count on my own. I have discovered that two slightly larger meals suit me better than three tiny ones (partly because three proper meals generates too much washing up). I’ve been having tea with milk and not counting it.

@Anewagain, I’m trying some workouts by Nourish Move Love on YouTube. It sounds really wanky but the workouts aren’t. She does loads of different options - today I did a random 20 mins core workout with dumbbells, and it turns out that it was part of a series of 10 workouts, 20 mins each, focussing on eg legs one day, then upper body, then core, then something else. I am going to try doing those 10, aiming for 4 a week (she says 5 but I’m unlikely to manage that!) and see if I can stick to it. I’ve tried one of her 10-day series before and got to about day 7 - it was nice having something new every day tailored for different bits of your body. You can pick longer or shorter, with weights or without, cardio vs strength, yoga or whatever.

Anewagain · 25/02/2023 08:36

I’ll check that out @TooExtraImmatureCheddar . Thank you for the recommendation. I’m nearing the end of Couch 2 5K so will probably add something like this after that.

I have just made DS pancakes and they smell amazing so am taking myself off for a run until they’re all gone. I’ve promised I’ll make myself pancakes when we’re on holiday over Easter. I have a couple of meals with friends coming up so am saving any meals ‘off’ for then. I tried on lots of my old clothes last night and am excited that there’s lots I can add to my wardrobe again!

Tunneltiger · 25/02/2023 10:21

Amazing loss @Anewagain. Very impressed with your running too. Hello @SquidSquad lots of posters here seem to be returners. I'm on my 4th go on the Fast800.
Binfire of a week for me on work and family fronts but I have been bloody minded about fasting and in particular not drinking. The booze leftover from Christmas has been calling to me siren like from the sideboard cupboard at moments of intense stress, but I have been strong. Not that it has done me much good on the stubborn scales front. Maybe the cortisol is getting in the way. However, 26lbs in 7 weeks is very good for me and there are always a few plateaus on the way.
Quiet weekend planned. One trip to theatre with DH - will avoid interval drinks and ice cream. Cottage pie with cauliflower mash today and almonds with greek yoghurt. Good luck everyone.

ladyandthechocolate · 25/02/2023 10:54

@Tunneltiger and @Anewagain amazing losses and hi @Tunneltiger I’m new here too.
It’s my first day today and I’m on an online course all weekend so at least that is taking my mind off feeling hungry. I take it the hunger goes away a bit?
I think I’ll have omelette for lunch and stir fry for dinner.

xraydelta · 25/02/2023 11:07

Welcome back @SquidSquad 😁 I'm a returner too, but determined this time to see this through to real meaningful change.

@Anewagain huge congrats on the loss 🎉 That's amazing.

On the subject of pancakes though, there IS one you can have. On the Fast 800 website it's called Simplest Pancakes Ever and it's basically a banana and two eggs. I am having it tomorrow for brunch, so I can let you know. If you can't find the recipe and nutritional advice on it, I will screen shot it for you. I have high hopes for it 🙌🏻

Today, I am having the chicken and quinoa salad for lunch and then halloumi and veg skewers for dinner.

I went to the gym this morning and did a class. I tried to work extra hard to make up for the wine I drank last night 🙈 I don't think it's had much of an effect but I won't have any alcohol now for the next week. It had just been a tough day 😔

Have a great day, everyone! Be strong 💪🏻

Crazycrazylady · 25/02/2023 14:45

Hi everyone

I'm a rejoinder too. Lost 18 pounds last year and have put 8 pounds back on after Xmas and a feb holiday. Really anxious to get over the first few days as I remember how easy I found it after the first week was over.. dreading the Leto flu though.
Joining for motivation and inspiration even though I know that this works for me, I just need to get over the first week!

xraydelta · 25/02/2023 16:57

Welcome back @Crazycrazylady

Are you doing keto or normal Fast 800?

If it helps, I didn't have any issues this time restarting. No side effects at all. Fingers crossed it will be the same for you 🤞🏻

Thanks for the welcome.. I'm doing the Keri version, found it faster for me and I'm all about fast results to keep me motivated.!

xraydelta · 26/02/2023 11:58

Those pancakes from the website (the ones titled Simplest Pancakes Ever and made with eggs and bananas) are bloody awful.

Seriously. They are disgusting and just don't work. Take this as a warning and don't even go there...

However, I ate them anyway though as I'd been to a gym class and was starving 😆

I have Parmesan chicken to look forward to later. It's the first time I have tried their "updated" recipe and I can't find the old recipe to see exactly what has changed.

I need to stay strong and not have a glass of wine today.

Anewagain · 26/02/2023 13:31

Oh dear @xraydelta! Thank you for letting us know to avoid them at least to avoid disappointment. Have to confess when you mentioned them I thought they sounded like a weaning recipe I tried with DS that I could never get to work.

Is the Parmesan chicken the ‘chicken goujon’ recipe because I think we’re having that tonight so can compare notes. I don’t know though if my recipe is old or updated.

Welcome @Crazycrazylady

I’ve had major cravings for everything this weekend and have found it tough but have kept going so far.

xraydelta · 26/02/2023 13:58

Yes, @Anewagain I think it is and the chicken Goujon recipe has disappeared from the app, and instead there's this Parmesan Chicken which is without egg or almonds and frankly doesn't look as appetising.

I have had a search (now I remembered it was called Goujon originally) and found this from the website rather than the app, so I think I'll make this instead as I remember it was yummy from last summer.

If your recipe is different, would you mind posting it?

I am sure they were in pieces last time I made this and I fried rather than baked them 🤷🏻‍♀️

God, I am looking forward to dinner now 😆

Anewagain · 26/02/2023 14:05

I think that recipe is slightly different @xraydelta . Mine uses polenta.

I don’t have my recipe book here but found this online which looks the same if not identical. It’s delicious if you haven’t yet tried it - one of my favourites.

www.recipecommunity.com.au/main-dishes-meat-recipes/the-fast-800-chicken-pieces-with-parmesan-crumb-converted-by-thermo-lish/vsstj8ik-3a9de-973452-beea0-qxfe8j58

The. Fast 800 Chicken Pieces with Parmesan Crumb converted by Thermo-lish

1 egg, medium
50 g Parmesan cheese, chopped roughly in 2-3cm pieces
30 g polenta
1 g dried thyme, or 1/2 teaspoon of dried thyme
1 g paprika, or 1/2 teaspoon of paprika (not smoked)
2 chicken breasts, cut each into 5-6 thin strips
salt, season
pepper, ground, season

Anewagain · 26/02/2023 14:11

A Thermomix in the recipe just be a blender I assume. In the book you use finely grated Parmesan so no blending required… it’s a super simple recipe and is one that turns out so well - I’ve served it to guests on a couple of occasions with Fast 800 and other salad bits.

xraydelta · 26/02/2023 14:23

Thank you, @Anewagain that does look like the one I tried last summer!

I have no idea why it's not on the app anymore 😔

I am fairly sure I have polenta. I can do this 🙌🏻

And I have broccoli to steam to go with it.

Thank you x

iloveyoubutilovememore · 26/02/2023 16:51

Hi all, hope you’ve had decent weekends? I’ve fallen off again slightly as we’ve been away to see family. I definitely notice how I feel physically worse when I eat all the beige foods again. Had a pain au chocolate today (bad I know!) and had the worst stomach pains after. Not going to dwell though, haven’t eaten since 4 so will see that through until late morning tomorrow. Am down 10lb so far, 3.5 weeks in.
