Well done for the losses everyone 👏

I’ve stayed the same again but I’m not surprised as my sleep has been shocking. Plus I’ve had quite a lot of stress heaped onto me over the last few days. My cortisol must be sky high.

I think I lost 5lb last week so I’m obviously delighted with that. DP has also lost 5lb over the last 11 days and he’s pretty pleased too 👍

outwest · 15/08/2020 10:06

Porridge oats

Duck, think porridge might be quite a calorific start to the day, though nicely filling. If you have 40-50g of oats, with half a pint of milk and possibly fruit you're probably closing in on 300 kcals, which is nearly 40% of your daily budget. Still, haven't eaten porridge since childhood, so not really informed! Also, has to be better than sugary cereals. Got to start somewhere.

yumyumpoppycat · 15/08/2020 11:11

Tantric well done on the will power! I am finding it easier than expected at the moment too. It's so weird as I have had so many false starts before and not been able to do it but suddenly I am finding it fine Shock

TantricTwist · 15/08/2020 11:22

Yes same @yumyumpoppycat it's so weird isnt it, and very fab. I hope it lasts.
I've now had my 2 coffees, 150 gm greek yoghurt with 75 gm mixed berries and a random couple of mouthfuls of leftover cabbage and lentil salad because I had to remove the pot from the fridge to fit everything else in.

Eggs
Prawns
Nuts
Salmon
Chicken
Chorizo
Olive oil
Feta
Halloumi
Cheddar
Parmasan
Butter
Mushrooms
Olives
Spinach
Rocket
Sundried tomatoes
Cauliflower
Sauerkraut / Kimchi
Avocado
Peppers
Tomatoes
Cucumber

I'm shopping tomorrow and this is my list so far. I have plenty of spices, tinned tomatoes and pulses. Also a million courgettes at the allotment.

I'm at the Inlaws right now and managed to resist the offered biscuits.

yumyumpoppycat · 15/08/2020 12:33

Great list oyster!

Duck and tantric I don't use kg but just realised I need to lose about the same as you. That would make me a couple of lbs heavier than my lowest on bsd. I think my goal weight is probably going to be a bit higher this time though maybe 9 stone 13.

Patchworksack · 15/08/2020 17:31

Talk to me about sauerkraut/Kimchi, which a few of you have mentioned. Is it low carb? What is it going to do for me? I keep seeing adverts for it on Facebook.

TantricTwist · 15/08/2020 17:48

Total loss of energy this afternoon had to have a power nap. Not particularly hungry but do feel light headed and dizzy which is fine for now but not when I'm back at work.

You could be low on electrolytes - I have some high quality sea salt in some water or just a few crystals directly under my tongue and that helps immediately.
NibbleQueen · 15/08/2020 18:31

I just like kimchi really. Been snacking on it because it's low-calorie and tasty. I believe it's good for you as it's fermented and therefore full of good bacteria.

yumyumpoppycat · 15/08/2020 19:00

Nibble where do you get your kimchi?

TantricTwist · 15/08/2020 19:40

@Madhatterhouse ok thanks, yes I'll try the salt right now.

I had an apple and a cup of tea after I posted which perked me up a tad but has in turn taken away a chunk of calories for later.

I think for me I may need a daily 2 egg dish for breakfast or lunch to prop up my energy levels.

NibbleQueen · 15/08/2020 19:59

yumyum I got it from waitrose, this one: www.waitrose.com/ecom/products/vadasz-raw-kimchi/850571-707684-707685
Probably the nicest one I've bought actually

yumyumpoppycat · 15/08/2020 20:29

Thanks nibble will look for that.

Tantric I hope the salt helps. I have basically had eggs every day this week - I will prob get sick of them eventually but right now I love them and they are almost more filling without toast Confused

outwest · 15/08/2020 21:07

@yumyumpoppycat This diet has opened my eyes to possibilities of eggs (beyond fried/boiled) for small meals/snacks! Now I love a good omelette, though can't flip them yet. Now want to try ouefs en cocottes, but probably something for when I'm in maintenance...

TantricTwist · 15/08/2020 21:30

@yumyumpoppycat and @Madhatterhouse I really do think the salt helped, thanks. I disolved a teaspoon of salt in warm water ready to drink, whilst holding my nose, but instead chucked it onto my dinner in the pan.

Bit saltier than I'd planned as I'd already chucked in some soy sauce but still delicious and I feel much less wonky.

WeKnowFrogsGoShaLaLaLaLa · 15/08/2020 22:04

I've decided to end my fast800 12wk run a little early - I've started to lose my hair. I thought it was the case the last few weeks but my hairdresser confirmed it today.

I'm going to stick to the principles because I'm genuinely eating better than I have ever done in my life but I'm going to aim for 1200kcals a day from now on. Still no snacks and extra kcals coming from fats and proteins.

I'll stick around though, if that's ok?

TantricTwist · 15/08/2020 22:28

Oh @WeKnowFrogsGoShaLaLaLaLa that's alarming for you, so sorry to hear that. I'm sure you've already done some googling etc but I looked up some links for you.

hair

BBC hair

justanotherneighinparadise · 15/08/2020 22:48

Weknow try not to freak out. I know it’s difficult as my yair has been shedding too and it did the last time I lost a chunk of weight. It’s not actually related to the diet per se, what it is related to is a sudden drop in weight, the body panics. I’ve just listened to this recording with Megan Ramos where they discuss hair loss.

www.google.co.uk/amp/s/fastinglane.com/blog/2019/1/21/megan-and-eves-coaching-session-day-2-of-a-10-day-fast-episode-5%3fformat=amp

justanotherneighinparadise · 15/08/2020 22:49

And my hair did grow back by the way.

WeKnowFrogsGoShaLaLaLaLa · 16/08/2020 06:56

Thank you both, yes have been googling away for the last few weeks really, changed my macros slightly, added some supplements etc. Unfortunately I didn't have a lot of hair to begin with so I feel I need to do what it takes to protect it.

I was racing towards my August four stone target having lost 2stone since June alone. I'm just taking my foot off the gas a little, and giving myself till the end of the year to lose the five stone I wanted instead of October.

The principles of this diet have got me eating more veg than I ever have in my adult life, fasting makes me feel great and is second nature now - so is exercising. I'm not bloated, my skin is less grey. I'm happier. But I won't be if I continue to lose my hair. I guess it'll just be a bit of trial and error over the next few weeks.

WeKnowFrogsGoShaLaLaLaLa · 16/08/2020 06:58

I'm listening to the podcast now while I have my coffee this morning. Thank you.

justanotherneighinparadise · 16/08/2020 07:15

Good! Megan explains if you slow the weight loss down you’ll stop stressing the body. If you look at any example of sudden weight loss, be it it Keto, food replacement shakes, illness, you get hair shedding alongside it. It’s your bodies way of anticipating the famine it thinks is around the corner.

My plan is to start making bone broth as it’s fabulous for skin and hair due to being high in collagen and other goodies. I saw some bone marrow in Waitrose yesterday so I’m going to pop there today and pick some up 👍

justanotherneighinparadise · 16/08/2020 07:22

So I’ve just jumped on the smart scales using my app (which I haven’t done for a while) and interestingly while my weight has stayed the same my fat percentage and metabolic age has gone down! So interesting and possibly where these smart scales come into their own.

outwest · 16/08/2020 08:10

neigh Re the scales, very useful addition to the arsenal, but personally am sceptical of the absolute level of fat (%) reported i.e. probably errs on side of optimism, at least think mine do for me - but how could one confirm anyway...? However, assume that even if it is a bit off, it is at least consistently off, so as you use over time the trend becomes visible and that is useful/heartening during weight-loss phase!
