Hi all

Due to period of stress + holiday I regained everything I lost on this plan before 😇 so I'm having a reboot to shift the 12lbs (!!!) I managed to gain last month

Plan for the next couple of weeks is roughly
B: eggs + veg
L: veg soup
D: fish, veg, bit of choc
S: will try to stick to miso soup and roast veg/carrot sticks

Today I've had 2 boiled eggs + mushroom miso soup, lunch will be carrot, chard and almond soup, dinner sea bass with tomato butter and steamed cabbage

NibbleQueen · 12/10/2020 09:03

Oh yeah, and NO WINE

aceofbase1 · 12/10/2020 11:39

Ok I'm back and on it again Grin thoroughly enjoyed my two days off! I binged and had a McDonald's, KFC, Chinese and ice cream twice Blush I needed the release after not losing for two weeks!

So I fasted yesterday and kept calories at 650 and I'm TRE today and planning not to eat until after lunch time.

I weighed in and only gained 0.6lb which was probably helped by my super fast yesterday!

The last couple of days allowed me to look at where I was going wrong. I was drinking far too many lattes (skimmed milk but still!) also using sweetner flavour drops which I now think must have been hampering my weight loss as I was using those in coffee and the Keto milkshakes!

So the plan is no more flavoured sweetner unless it's with a meal and tea instead of milky coffees!

Fingers crossed I get some good losses this week!!!

44PumpLane · 12/10/2020 14:07

@Cantteach ooh how do you make a crumble topping with almond meal? Is it just almond and butter?

jennywhitehorses · 12/10/2020 14:20

I don't think this is a 'Mediterranean style way of eating'. There are 3 or 4 basic foodstuffs in the Mediterranean diet and one of them is wheat. Rice and maize are common too. Pasta has a low or medium glycemic index which means that when eaten in moderation and in combination with other things does not increase blood sugar levels by much.

nibdedibble · 12/10/2020 16:33

I’m still on a wee bit of a plateau here. My next goal is 199lbs which is 1. Under 200 Wink and 2. into a lower BMI bracket for me. I’m still 4 lbs off and not really breaking that. I know I can though. PMA and all that

nibdedibble · 12/10/2020 16:53

Reading my post back...PMT never mind A. 😂 Why oh why am I still having to get bloated every month, grrrrrrr

Agree! I raised this point too. Mediterranean diet is typically high in carbs, low in protein. I think people just use "mediterranean" as a catch-all way to describe a diet that is largely and high in vegetables. Very euro-centric, why not the East African diet? Hmm

Whatever it is, it's a pretty effective plan if followed.

NibbleQueen · 12/10/2020 17:03

I missed the word "unprocessed" after largely

carbhunter · 12/10/2020 20:30

NibbleQueen I'm definitely not a dietary expert but from what I have seen Michael Moseley say about this, a traditional Mediterranean diet is rich in veg and protein (fish) and lots of olive oil. A modern Mediterranean diet has much more pasta and wheat than they ate traditionally in places like sicily which have the long life expectancies.
That's my understanding anyway.

Cantteach · 12/10/2020 22:06

Crumble topping was butter, bit of vanilla extract and ground almonds. More like a pastry than a crumble in the end but with stewed apples with cinnamon underneath it it made a good pudding.

I'm trying to have a good think about the next few months. I've found the plan fairly easy to do but it's been helped with good weather and salads. I'm moving into the time of year for jacket potatoes, pies and casserole served with mash. I've tried cauliflower mash and it was ok-ish. It tasted much better when I put cheese in it but that'll take me over 800 cals. Have any of you had any thoughts on low carb comfort dinners?

nibdedibble · 12/10/2020 22:15

One of my favourite low carb comfort meals is pasta sauce with courgetti. I’m amazed how much I like it. Any sauce I’d normally have eg salmon, peas, lemon, cream...yum.

Another is a big dish of roasted veg and lentils. Slightly carby but high fibre.

carbhunter · 13/10/2020 07:59

The weight has finally started shifting again. So happy I could cry. Only a couple of lbs but the scales haven't moved for bloody ages so this is long awaited.
Just wanted to give some hope to all those who have stalled recently and feel like giving up. Stick with it!

MysweetAudrina · 13/10/2020 08:59

That's great @carbhunter , glad it's moving for you again. I have deliberately not weighed myself since Saturday as I have my period so I know I'm going to be up. I have been following the plan so once I'm finished I will weigh and hopefully see a loss.

Last night I had baked salmon, some butter fried king prawns and a v small portion of couscous sautéed with mushrooms, peppers, tomatoes and onion. Planning on steak, roast parsnips and carrot and swede mash for dinner today.

I was in need of some extra fat yesterday so had 2*streaky bacon, mushroom, tomato and an egg all fried in olive oil for lunch yesterday. I also fitted in an hours yoga and a 12,000 step walk.

mummymacphee · 13/10/2020 11:53

Great news @carbhunter - it's so encouraging when the numbers start moving again!

2 lbs off for me this week which is fine. I'm nearly into the next stone which will be a great milestone- hopefully I'll never be back in the 13 stone zone again!

carbhunter · 13/10/2020 16:41

Well done mummymacphee meeting those goals is really rewarding and mascot all worth it!

carbhunter · 13/10/2020 16:41

Makes it all worth it Blush

NibbleQueen · 13/10/2020 17:40

My husband is ordering a box of Crosstown doughnuts 😫

mummymacphee · 13/10/2020 18:06

@NibbleQueen I don't know what Crosstown doughnuts are but they don't sound low carb! 😂

NibbleQueen · 13/10/2020 19:03

They are delicious doughnuts, but yes definitely not low carb or low calorie

mummymacphee · 13/10/2020 19:21

I googled them after posting- now drooling! 😍

nibdedibble · 14/10/2020 20:10

Thank goodness for Lindt 85%. Dying of pre-menstrual cravings here! 😱

aceofbase1 · 17/10/2020 08:44

I've broke another stone bracket Grin after my two week plateau I was getting really down so I cheated for a couple of days last weekend and that definitely worked to kick start my weight loss again! 4.5lb off this week!!

I've also discovered that slim fast do a Keto shake and it's delicious! I have been having one at lunch time and it's really filling and tastes like ice cream! Very low in sugar and carbs and seems to be helping with my weight loss - I've yet to try the fast 800 shakes but I figure their probably the same thing and I just can't be bothered cooking during the day anymore and just cook an evening meal.

My next mini goal is 20th November and ideally I need another 7lbs off by then!

AlgonquinBay · 17/10/2020 09:02

That's amazing @aceofbase1 well done Smile

The slimfast keto shakes sound good - where did you get them? Are they ready made or do you have to make them up from powder?

aceofbase1 · 17/10/2020 09:09

@AlgonquinBay it's powder that you make up and they're from Asda - it says water but I've been making mine with almond milk. They do lots of flavours too
