Big NSV for me today. So, I have attended 7am yoga class every morning for the past 2.5 years. There are many, many poses that I can't do. There was one in particular, that I used to think, htf are people able to do that. For those who might be familiar to yoga, it's not a particularly advanced pose but it involves you going from Warrior 2, into side angle pose and then you do this bind, where you wrap, say your left arm around your back and your right arm under your bent lef. You then link both hands while opening your chest to the side. I've attached a pic (not me) as I don't think my explanation is v good. But anyway I think the reason I could do this is because my tummy has shrunk and there is space now to get my bottom arm under my leg. I can see an improvement also with some other poses but nothing as dramatic as this

@MysweetAudrina lovely to celebrate a NSV like this. Enjoy the good feelings!

nibdedibble · 04/10/2020 15:39

Excellent @MysweetAudrina Shock no way could I manage that

I’d love some ideas for sugar-free, and as low carb as possible snacks. I’m not really eating much fruit (that’s fine) and when you take starch out if it, there aren’t a lot of snacks available. Veg and a bit of houmous has been done to death. I had a really low-cal lunch and dinner is bolognese but it’s a long time till then!

mummymacphee · 05/10/2020 09:09

Morning all! Another 2.5lbs off this week so very pleased with that. I'm now 1/3 of the way towards my target (and clearly still obsessed with the numbers!)

Very impressive yoga pose - what a great NSV!

nibdedibble · 05/10/2020 09:36

Very much maintaining here, but I’ve still got 50lbs to lose!! Need a whoosh! Grin

aceofbase1 · 05/10/2020 10:01

@nibdedibble I need a woosh too Angry I've been stuck at the same weight for over a week and I either gain a pound or two and then lose it but never go under the sticking point Angry I'm 7 weeks in now. It's so frustrating because I'm staying Under my calories and eating as best I can. I do think my clothes are getting looser but I just want to see the scales moving.

Love that Yoga pose! I'd have zero chance and end up face planting the floor Grin

CurseryKinkajoo · 05/10/2020 11:00

Morning all, love the yoga pose although after a bit of a carbs blowout Fri-Sun for me, I’d be scared for the people stood behind me BlushEnvy

Slightly up on week 6 weigh in day yesterday but given what I have consumed in 3 days, slightly up is a bonus Grin. Also very noticeable that my portion sizes are still much smaller and I’m no longer finding carbs so satisfying BUT I did wake up hungry this morning for the first time in several weeks.

Also, has anyone else found their day has gone really squishy?! I’ve always had huge thigh saddlebacks that felt firm. Now they’re all soft and doughy, the kids (all teens/preteens) are taking great pleasure in poking bits of me and watching the ripples...

It’s all quite fascinating!!

CurseryKinkajoo · 05/10/2020 11:01

*fat not day has gone squishy

MysweetAudrina · 05/10/2020 12:07

I was up the .8lb that I was down Sunday, but I did have 5 spicy chicken wings with blue cheese dip and a portion of lamb stew, with half a slice of homemade soda bread and a slab of butter. I had planned this in advance as it was dh's birthday but I did resist the chocolate birthday cake without too much trouble so looking forward to seeing the loss back over the next few days.

I was drinking 2 cans of Coke Zero up to starting this plan and I had decided I would have a can with dinner yesterday but in the end I didn't bother as the urge was no longer there.

I am in ROI and NPHET have advised the Government to put the whole Country into lockdown. I don't think Government will go that far but the Country is going mad this morning.

new800 · 05/10/2020 12:52

Happy Monday :)
I had a perfect week last week but then caved this weekend - not awful but definitely not fast 800 friendly. Back on it today, managed my 16 hour fast, just broken with soup now. I'll get back on the scales on Weds and see what the damage is...

What's the verdict re exercise? I normally am quite a keen runner, but have really been struggling to run since starting this WOE in terms of low energy. Does anybody eat extra to have a bit more energy for exercise or do I just need to suck it up a bit?

Kathleen · 05/10/2020 14:43

Hi all, I’m new to this thread but I’ve been on Mumsnet for years. I’m on the Fast 800 & combining it with 20:4 fasting pattern. I’m on week 4 and going well with a weight loss of 8lb so far which I’m happy with. However, I’m anticipating the dreaded plateau which discourages & eventually defeats me every time I try to lose weight. I’m 5’3 and have a goal weight of 9st 7 which is realistic I think and was my normal weight pre-kids. 20lbs off my target at present. Some advice would be really welcome. Thanks

Solongsugar · 05/10/2020 16:00

Hello @Kathleen. I had a tendency to do well in first few weeks and then slide, then forget completely, like what diet! This time I set first target time to a month for a start off. I did plateau but knowing loads of others did, I dug heals in to continue (not without moaning on mumsnet.mind you ! ). I've had the odd slip up day where I've not been organised. At those times I recommend visualising 8lbs of fat. You can Google a visual image of 1,2,7lbs offset. That's 8 less baggage to lump around, and so on and so on...

Encourage others on here, it will in turn remind you of the plan. I have not budged this week, but will see someone in same boat, positivity and losses. Good luck .

Kathleen · 05/10/2020 16:44

Thanks Solongsugar. I lost 2.5 stone on 5:2 a few years back but was stuck at the same weight for 7 weeks and inevitably gave up. I really don’t want to do that again so will take your advice & try to stick with it

MysweetAudrina · 05/10/2020 19:14

@Kathleen I'm only a couple of days into week 4 so haven't seen a stall yet but I am expecting it, in line with what others are experiencing. Lots of posters mention the whoosh effect where nothing comes off for ages and then they see a decent loss. Track all those NSVs for when this happens so you will be able to remind yourself of all the positives you have experienced so far.

I had a lovely tasty dinner today. I was making Spag Bol for dinner so threw in loads of extra frozen veg and ran round to Lidl while it was cooking to find something suitable for me to have with it. The only suitable option was cauliflower rice and I was surprised at how nice it tasted with it. I sprinkled some grated cheese over it and even have a portion in the fridge for lunch tomorrow.

chocolatespiders · 05/10/2020 19:36

Hi everyone.. I desperately need to lose weight. Currently 7 stone over weight and just struggling to motivate myself. I have a community job in NHS and it is starting to affect me at work.
I don't really like meat so any vege ideas for me?
I bought the book a few years ago but have never started it.
Is 16 hours fast the aim and do you do it everyday of just two days?

Jollyholibobs · 05/10/2020 21:01

@new800 not sure how long you have been doing this. I am running and going to the gym on this WOE and it took a good couple of weeks to feel ok. I do have 6 almonds as a little boost about an hour before I go to the gym but I count them in my 800 calories they are not extra. My running is not as pacey as it used to be but I think that is more to do with general decline in fitness which I am now working on.

@nibdedibble ideas for snacks. Teaspoon of natural peanut or almond butter. Could spread on a little courgette slice as a little crudité, small portion of plain nuts, boiled egg, cheese (baby bel).

NibbleQueen · 06/10/2020 07:29

Hi all! I got to my goal on this before but then I had a hugely stressful time followed by a holiday, which meant lots of drinking and chocolate. I'm now at my post-xmas weight of 10st5, need to get back down to 9st10 at least!
Planning to subsist on fish and vegetables and no alcohol for the next 2 weeks. Hopefully that'll help me get back down again!

AlgonquinBay · 06/10/2020 07:40

@new800 I also struggled to run when I first started this diet - due to lack of carbs I guess, but your body adapts to burning fat for energy eventually (after 3-4 weeks for me). Now I'm running faster because of the weight I've lost so keep on with it Smile

AlgonquinBay · 06/10/2020 07:50

Hi @chocolatespiders I followed the 800 calorie per day fast800 diet and have lost 23lbs in 9 weeks. As I skip breakfast I also incorporate the 16:8 but I'm not sure how much that has contributed to the loss.

I like the rapid weight loss that you see on this WOE and it has kept me motivated. You genuinely just get used to eating very little after a few weeks.

I don't think I would have stuck to it had I just followed the 5:2.

nibdedibble · 06/10/2020 08:58

@chocolatespiders it’s no problem eating loads of veg/vegetarian meals on this, check out the book, it’s good and clear. You just hold back on any carbs, replace with veg; and up your protein, don’t worry about fat.

Ok so I had a tiny whoosh and have cracked the ‘stone and a half off’ - that’s been over about 10 weeks. And while I’ve been doing it quite seriously, I’ve also had blips and I’m usually at 1000cals a day. One constant, though: not had any sugary foods. I’m very pleased, I’m a person who loves sweets, cakes, pastries and all the rest. I never thought it was possible to reset that sweet tooth. It is.

‘Just’ 3.5 more stone to go!! The thing is, I can see it being possible. I genuinely though it would be harder than this and that I’d have given up already. And, bonus, I feel far less perimenopausal!

aceofbase1 · 06/10/2020 11:01

Anyone got any advice on how long this plateau will take?! Sad I'm on day 10 of zero movement - just keep gaining and losing the same 1lb Angry

I read on Reddit that anecdotally, eating some carbs can accelerate it.

Last night I had 2 small new potatoes. Coincidence? 😂 I’ve no idea other than that.

MysweetAudrina · 06/10/2020 11:15

@nibdedibble that's great. It's such a good feeling when you break a 1/2 stone mark. You asked earlier about snacks. I sometimes have half a pear and a piece of cheese, half a red apple and piece of cheese, handful of almonds, rocket ice pop, square of dark chocolate or
small bowl of veg soup.

@aceofbase1 try and mix up your routine, add in some exercise you wouldn't normally do, exercise at a different time, review your food diary for the last few weeks, are you weighing or guessing?, maybe see if you are eating the same meals habitually and try some new recipes. Check your macros and make sure your carb intake is low enough. I seem to do better with around 35g of carbs a day. Easy for me to say above as not reached a plateau yet but hopefully when I do you will have had your whoosh and I can get advice on what worked for you. Make sure you are not self sabotaging in any small way after having to reset your goal last week.

nibdedibble · 06/10/2020 11:24

@Jollyholibobs @MysweetAudrina many thanks for the snack ideas!

nibdedibble · 07/10/2020 14:50

Went for a long walk in the sunshine today. Feel leaner, faster, lighter. It’s brilliant. So motivated to carry on. I’m still a 16, roll on being a 14 and then a 12 Halo
