Six week weigh in today, down 3lbs again, total 15lbs 🎉 cauliflower rice is now a family favourite, I'd never heard of it before this thread! Sticking with my 20 minute walk after dinner as well as daily exercise so feeling fitter and more flexible too.
To those struggling with plateau, I have always found that variety tricks the body so over a week an average of 800 calories per day but some days go higher and some lower. Also vary the length of fasting window and type of exercise. Hope that's helpful 🤞

mummymacphee · 08/10/2020 09:07

Morning everyone!

Great to hear about all your losses and other NSVs. I agree about feeling a lot lighter and more energetic- practically leaping up the stairs now, rather than the slow stagger of a few months ago!

I've lost 23lbs in 6 weeks - that's a third of the way to my target. Strangely, I feel quite calm about the fact that I will definitely get there this time - I think giving up booze has made the difference this time as my willpower has been known to dissolve in wine 🙄

MrsHuntGeneNotJeremyObviously · 08/10/2020 09:25

Hi all. I'm 8 weeks in and stuck! Put on 2lb overnight and seem to keep losing and gaining them without progress.
Overall I've lost about 1.5 stone since I started but this non movement is hard.

Solongsugar · 08/10/2020 10:56

I too have not moved on scale or tape measure for two weeks. I'm week 9. This is the second stall. Despite feeling positive throughout, I have to admit slight fraying and need to shake it off.

aceofbase1 · 08/10/2020 11:44

@MrsHuntGeneNotJeremyObviously I'm the same. I've been stuck at the same weight for two weeks now Angry I've done all the suggested tips and even threw in a 23 hour fast last weekend and still no joy.

I keep gaining a pound over night and then lose it the next day then regain Angry really disheartening as I'm being so good.

I'm going to just try shakes and some cauliflower and chicken fried "rice" for dinner and see if that helps.

Starting to dread getting on the scales but at the same time I'm addicted to the anticipation that they might finally go down! God I'm sounding obsessed Grin

MrsHuntGeneNotJeremyObviously · 08/10/2020 14:51

I bought myself a new ring to cheer myself up Grin
I wish I knew what I was doing wrong

aceofbase1 · 08/10/2020 20:54

I'm so tempted to give in and have some cheese on toast and just have the weekend off and start again on Sunday - maybe that will be the kick start to start losing again and I'm not losing weight now so maybe I should have a treat Grin

Jelly555 · 09/10/2020 06:36

First week of the fast 800. did it before with good results but stopped after a month. Struggling with hunger this week but sticking to the guidelines on what to eat but eating about 100-200 cal extra in eg almonds etc to get me through the working day. Hoping next week I can manage without this. Don’t remember being this hungry after the first few days last time. Anyone else find they needed a bit extra to get them through the first week?

MysweetAudrina · 09/10/2020 09:03

4 weeks tomorrow and down 1st. My BMI is now at 27 so not too far to go to get it into the healthy range. Expecting a bit of a stall next weeks as due period so normally retain fluid. For those who were mentioning snacks there are a few more that I forgot. M&S and probably others do rolittos, parma ham wrapped around cheese and other similar but different varieties, handy and filling. They also do a king prawn cocktail dip which is lovely and I normally only use a small bit of the sauce so carbs are then quite low. Hotel chocolat 70/80% bars with orange, mint, nuts are also really nice for a weekend treat if everyone else is scoffing sugar laden food.

Jollyholibobs · 09/10/2020 14:14

@Jelly555 the first week to ten days was really tough. Stick with it and it will get better. It’s worth it.

@MysweetAudrina 1st in four weeks is a great result. Congratulations.

Just completed week 8 total lost 18lbs. I have plateaued this week but am just waiting for the next whoosh and not loosing faith and staying focused on NSVs as well.

Cantteach · 09/10/2020 21:44

Popping back to say I'm still sticking to low carb (in the main!). Like macphee I feel like this will happen but for the first time I'm accepting that it's going to take time. Discovered cauliflower hash browns today, not as low carb as they should be but hit the spot Smile

I want to lose another stone by Christmas. That's me setting my goal!

aceofbase1 · 09/10/2020 23:04

Sooo I did cave this evening and have a night off. I've not loads any weight solidly for 2 weeks even though I've stuck to plan and just felt so disheartened and thought I may as well have a couple of days off and get back to it on Sunday - hoping that might kickstart a loss again.

I've had McDonald's and sweets and ice cream Blush but I've enjoyed myself and I'm not going anywhere near the scales until Sunday and I'll start again.

AlgonquinBay · 10/10/2020 07:41

I think it's good to have the odd day off and treat yourself @aceofbase1 so enjoy the food and don't worry about it as long as you get back on it straight away.

I had two cheat days last weekend as we went out for a meal for a friends birthday but I was straight back on it on Sunday and I've lost another 2lbs this week.

It can be disheartening when you plateau - I've had a few weeks when I keeping gaining and losing the same few lbs but then all of a sudden the scales move down wards again. I think that weight loss is just not as linear as we would expect it to be and we all have natural weight fluctuations for all sorts of reasons. Logically if you are in a calorie deficit, you will be losing weight and the scales will eventually reflect that. Keep going Star

CurseryKinkajoo · 10/10/2020 08:45

I agree with @AlgonquinBay as well! I’m at the end of week 7 and the past 2 weeks have had a handful of cheat days for various reasons (had a cold, hospital appts, birthdays) but still mostly staying on plan.

Definitely too many carbs (Damn you birthday cake and booze) but I’m still losing (at a much slower rate - 1lb this week).

But for me, this woe is only sustainable if I can incorporate days off. I’m still logging it all in my fitness pal and interestingly, there has only been 1 cheat day in which I have exceeded the recommended daily calories for a woman!! The other cheat days have finished off around 1500 calories so not horrific!

carbhunter · 10/10/2020 10:41

Hi all, I'm back on it today after about a week of eating bread and sweets Blush.
It was kickstarted by a friend's 40th where I drank too much, and then I had a week where I was sick one day, bit depressed about work, and I'm a classic comfort eater so you can guess the rest...

In the past once off the waggon that would be it and I would be back to bad eating habits, probably piling on another stone or two, but this time I'm determined to get back on it and try again. Hoping I haven't done too much damage. Bit scared to brave the scales so I'm going to do a couple of days before I weigh in again. Wish me luck all!

AlgonquinBay · 10/10/2020 11:15

Good for you for getting back on it @carbhunter - we're all going to have cheat days/weeks now and then but we just need to make sure the good days outnumber the bad and keeping climbing back on the wagon Smile

nibdedibble · 10/10/2020 11:21

I had a bit of a cheat last night when I made a truly delicious risotto for the family and felt resentful of my planned chicken salad...no more white carbs for me but oh it was good. Not weighed myself, not too bothered.

Oh and a NSV, I got into my favourite pyjamas again and slept like a log. I’ve not worn them since last Christmas.

carbhunter · 10/10/2020 15:35

Thanks AlgonquinBay I feel pretty shit but need to remember why I am doing this and that it will get easier if I stick with it!

MysweetAudrina · 10/10/2020 17:21

I've obviously subconsciously decided that I will be taking a break at Christmas going by the contents of my shopping at the cash and carry earlier, Lindt, Ferrero rocher, chocolate Kimberly, Coke Zero, Prosecco.

Solongsugar · 10/10/2020 21:02

Finally I'm down 1lb , as I hadn't shifted an ounce since a fortnight ago. If love to celebrate with white toast, jam and a cup of sweet tea...but I won't .How good am I ?!

MrsHuntGeneNotJeremyObviously · 10/10/2020 22:13

I'm going to do Boot Camp on Monday to get things shifting again. I've maybe allowed too many artificial sweeteners and not enough water, so I think I need to go back to basics.

carbhunter · 11/10/2020 08:59

I usually have a couple of coffees a day with sweeteners as I hate unsweetened coffee but trying to kick the habit now. Having my first no sweetener/sugar coffee and it's not as nice but I will persevere!

mummymacphee · 11/10/2020 10:29

Well done everyone that is getting back to it after a slip - it's so easy to just give up and dive had first back into the carbs. Then you find 6 months has passed and you've put on another stone so you need to start again but you've got even more to lose . Not that this has ever happened to me, no sir..........

Off to burn some calories by cleaning the kitchen- living the dream! 👍

Darklane · 11/10/2020 16:41

Hi everyone. Just found you.
I’m plateauing too. Started about two months ago & lost 5lb but I’m well & truly stuck this last fortnight, nothing lost at all. I’m really trying to stick to the 800 calories, just a couple of times ever do slightly over. I take meds for low thyroid & don’t think that helps any with shedding weight.
What is it about sweetness in coffee? I really don’t like coffee without & need a caffeine fix!

Cantteach · 11/10/2020 19:10

darklane I don't understand it all but sweeteners are not well tolerated by most people and inflame the gut which apparently makes weight loss harder. My dad has diabetes and has been told to avoid them as well as sugar. Personally, I think the safest option is sugar simply because it's a natural product. It's only 16 cals a tsp so if you're only having 1/2 cups a day, even 3 cups won't do much damage but try to have them with your meals.

I thought I was being good today with crustless quiche at lunch but salad stuff wasn't very appealing so opted for peas, wow they have a lot of carbs! Already had a small apple crumble in oven made with ground almond topping. Served with some creme fraiche.

Slim noodles with veg, egg and spices for dinner so still withing calories, just.
