So I ordered the renpho scales and could cry Sad they say I'm 12lbs heavier than my old ones BlushSadSad

MysweetAudrina · 28/09/2020 14:25

Oh no @aceofbase1 that is worse than awful but on the bright side for me could it mean that I am actually 12lb lighter. Are you weighing on the same spot of floor? Was you old scales digital or mechanical. I find the mechanicals ones can vary hugely. I bought one at the start of lockdown and it weighed me a stone heavier the next day so I threw it in the bin, hence the need for me to buy a new one. I suppose really you are still the same weight so try not to let it put you off. Any ideas yourself what the problem might be.

aceofbase1 · 28/09/2020 14:30

The old ones were digital as well - I'm trying to tell myself that actually I have still lost 18lbs but my starting weight was so much worse than I imagined!

So much further from my goal now! Confused

nibdedibble · 28/09/2020 16:20

I use some fancy Nokia ones dh bought and every day they weigh me at several kilos higher than my other scales. I do another reading and it then tallies almost exactly with the others. I’ve no idea why something so expensive can’t get it right first time and it depressed me quite a bit before I got wise to the ways of the scale.
What I’m saying is: have you tried taking multiple weights?

RR369 · 28/09/2020 19:51

That sounds like something is wrong @aceofbase1 Could someone else try both scales and see if they get a similar difference?? I've also found that the same spot on the floor is necessary for consistency like @MysweetAudrina Did you weigh at a different time? after eating? I think every scales will weigh you differently but hopefully it will show something closer to your old one in the morning 🤞try to stay positive- 18lbs is a fantastic loss and you should be nothing but proud of that achievement xx

Chubbychungus · 28/09/2020 20:16

Hello Everyone. I am new to the website and this is my very first post on any forum. My weight has been creeping up slowly over the last 10 years, as a result of my lack of motivation or energy to do anything about it.
At the beginning of this month my son started calling me big chubby chungus which amuses him, his sister and their dad to no end. I decided to google what it was last weekend and here I am desperately trying to lose weight (35.4kg to be precise).
I have now bought and read the fast 800, the journal and the recipe book and was debating whether to join the 12 week online program.
I have never really dieted before Blush
So I am here looking for a supportive group in the hope that I will stick to this weight lose journey, and not be known as the big chubby chungus of the family Blush

MysweetAudrina · 28/09/2020 20:55

@Chubbychungus I'm sorry but that did make me laugh, the little shit, I know it's not funny but it is something my kids would say to me or worse. Best of luck on the plan and hope it suits you.

I thought I was having a good day but my calories seem to have really added up even though I ate fairly low carb. I was up this morning but hopefully just a blip. I did buy some dark chocolate in hotel chocolat at the weekend so maybe I am nibbling more of that than I care to admit to myself.

Jollyholibobs · 29/09/2020 07:49

Welcome @Chubbychungus.

How disappointing @MysweetAudrina. If they are that out I would send them back.

Made a delicious dinner last night. Leeks, mushrooms, And a creamy sauce made of melted Boursin cheese with a little Creme fraiche. Served with courgetti and broccoli. DH had pasta with his and was equally enthusiastic. Really tasty.

Scales down again today. Have a good day everyone.

buntingandstarcharts · 29/09/2020 15:12

Hello everyone, I've been lying low but powering on through. I'm down 1 stone and 11 pounds in 7 weeks, loving it so much. Only issue is.... I've just found out that I'm expecting. Literally it must have been this diet making me so healthy as it took me a year before. Needless to say I'm shocked but delighted. My BMI is still way too high so I need to continue to lose weight, whilst being mindful. Does anyone know any details of what the dos and don'ts are? I haven't been eating carbs except green leafy veg. Can I continue? Maybe just no calorie counting? Help!

new800 · 29/09/2020 19:30

Day 2 and I'm doing well! Yesterday I ate 700 calories although had noodles for dinner and therefore 97g carbs in total.
Today is 787 calories, 53g carbs.
Managing so far to stick with 16:8 too. I'm assuming the novelty will wear off soon and it will get harder! Has anyone else found they've been freezing? I've been so cold today and yesterday.

Solongsugar · 29/09/2020 19:50

Hello all new members and congratulations to loses and in @buntingandstarcharts, your gain! I think it would be healthier to keep shedding surplus weight but particularly be mindful of calcium, vitamins and folic acid. I hope your cravings will be all non sugary ones!

No loss for me this week so I think I need to go back to basics, could do with an acceleration if anyone could advise please.

MysweetAudrina · 29/09/2020 20:37

@buntingandstarcharts congrats. I would definitely increase calorie intake as 800 way too low with baby growing. I would just focus on healthy eating and moderate exercise. Fasting not really recommended either. Stay away from the processed carbs but I think probably better to eat some whole grain.

nibdedibble · 30/09/2020 15:23

New800, yes I get cold, particularly in the afternoon! Hot drink and a jumper Grin

Cantteach · 30/09/2020 17:49

Congratulations bunting I would speak to your midwife sooner than later but I think unless your BMI is 40+ they usually don't like you to diet while expecting. I wouldn't worry about when you eat or what you eat just try and keep making healthy choices.

I'm 7 weeks in and 19lb down. I'm happy with that. I think I could be at least another 7lbs off if I'd actually stuck rigidly to the plan but I've found it easy to indulge occasionally and then get straight back on it. That doesn't usually happen. I am usually angelic then an event happens, I eat crap and that's how I continue until my next 'I really must lose weight' moment. I need to lose 5 more to hit 1st mini goal so hopefully I'll be there before the end of the month.

RR369 · 30/09/2020 20:58

Congratulations @buntingandstarcharts
Five weeks in and 12lbs down. Like you @Cantteach I believe I could have lost more but I love that I've been able to have my holidays and indulgences and then continue with the plan- it makes it a much more sustainable way of life 😊 giving myself a pat on the back for keeping up the exercise too, even did my after dinner walk in pouring rain tonight 🎉

buntingandstarcharts · 01/10/2020 10:44

Thank you so much for your kind words! I am in shock to be honest but delighted too. I spoke to the doctor who has said that it is ok to do low - moderate carb but not 'no' carb. So I think that fits in with this WOE and I won't calorie count. Excited to indulge in the berries and Greek yog each night. Well done on everyone's losses, incredible x

1questionshootout · 01/10/2020 19:13

Fab newws, Bunting!

But no fasting when pregnant. One of the sciencey bits about fasting is that it encourages existing cells to repair, rather than making new cells. But of course new cells is EXACTLY what you want to encourage right not. So no, no fasting.

aceofbase1 · 01/10/2020 19:16

So I tried on the renpho scales the next morning on an empty stomach and they are showing 6lbs heavier than my old digi ones.

Not the greatest feeling as it feels like I'm playing snakes and ladders and I've slipped back down to the start SadGrin

Figuring that my old ones were wrong because they were so temperamental and my dp had the same gain on the new ones so I'm sure they're right.

So anyway I have now amended my goal. I was hoping for a 3 stone loss in total but now I'm aiming for a total 2 stones and 5lbs. It feels more achievable now I'm so much further away that I thought and I can always aim to lose more once I get there Smile

I have 7 weeks before my wedding dress fitting and I need to get another 12lb off in that time Confused I seem to be averaging a 2.5-3lb loss per week so fingers crossed.

What is everyone else's weekly loss like?

1questionshootout · 01/10/2020 20:17

Bleurgh mines shit this week cos I’ve been dealing with coronavirus Positive tests at work, and subsequent trade union concerns.

Jollyholibobs · 02/10/2020 07:33

Congratulations @buntingandstarcharts.

6 weeks of fast800 for me and I have lost 17.4lbs since starting. This includes a week away on holiday. Still got a bit more 7-10 lbs to lose but best result is how much I feel I am benefiting from low carb. I honestly don’t want to go back to sugar, pasta, potatoes, rice and flour again because I realise how they were affecting my energy, mood and cravings.

It’s early days but I hope to stick with this WOE long term.

AlgonquinBay · 02/10/2020 09:10

2.5 - 3lbs per week is a great rate of loss @aceofbase1 it sounds like you're right on track to lose 12lbs in 7 weeks even if your rate slows a little.

I'm 9 weeks in here and have lost 10.5kgs (23lbs) so far. I've upped my calorie allowance for the last few weeks to 1000 as I was just so hungry but I'm still losing although a bit slower now (about 0.6kgs per week). Hoping to reach target by the end of October Grinbut no idea what I'll do after that.

I'm quite enjoying the new WOE and enjoying the Mediterranean style diet.

Jollyholibobs · 02/10/2020 09:26

@AlgonquinBay sounds like this is really suiting you.

I also expect to reach target at end of October. As a chronic yo yo dieter I really want to see this as a new lifestyle and not to fall into old habits. I’m hoping to gradually increase calories but stay low carb and 16:8 and see if I can maintain like that. I think I will continue to count calories for a bit to make sure I am not overeating. Hopefully it will become intuitive over time.

MysweetAudrina · 02/10/2020 12:25

@aceofbase1 , try not to focus on the number. You still have lost the exact same weight so if you had started feeling better about yourself before you weighed on the Renpho scales then those feelings are still valid. I know it probably seems like a bigger hill you have to climb but don't forget to look back and see how far you have come.

I've had a good week this week. Down about 3 more lb but found it much easier to stick to the foods. It's my dh's birthday on Sunday, so while I won't have any of the lovely cake I bought him, I probably will relax on the dinner part. A pub we like going to for food has started an online delivery as it is currently locked down under local COVID restrictions so I was going to order some food from there for dinner.

Purpleraindeer · 02/10/2020 12:58

Hi all - I’ve not posted for ages as I’m now doing a gentle wean off fast 800. I’m maintaining 16/8 and eating low carb still but being less strict at the weekend so I can fit in with everyone else’s eating. My weight is massively up and down on a daily basis which I think is water from either having some carbs or not, but I think I’m probably still losing weight but much more slowly.
I’m finding this woe totally manageable, I’m not hungry and I still feel good from the IF so I think I’ll carry on like this. I just wanted to give a bit of reassurance for those of you moving to the maintenance phase as it has been a smooth transition for me. I hope you’re all well - lots of fab weight loss on here. Well done all! Star

Makegoodchoices · 03/10/2020 10:11

@Purpleraindeer Thanks - that sounds reassuring, I tried to do 5:2 on my birthday week, it didn’t go so well for me as lockdown rules necessitated multiple gatherings. Now back to where I was the week before.

Next week I have two lunches out to fit in. Trying to make best menu choices in advance and stop myself messing up again as I need to get this balance sorted for normal life!
