Sorry to the ongoing couch to 5k thread but I am looking for others just starting out (and it looks like there might be quite a few of us on popsycal's thread).

So...anyone starting week 1 this week?

lol Wuglet thanks for that, I'll have to come back here and reread it whenever I'm wavering about not going out

HairyMaclary · 21/01/2010 08:59

ouch! Maybe I overdid it yesterday! Legs, especially thighs very achy, a good ache though, it feels like I have done something, now I just have to do it again tomorrow!

Mme lindt - I have a similar picture, taken while adjusting the Christmas tree, not pretty. I think I need to find one before children, it might really motivate me.

My favourite is Zachary Quack, the ditzy duckling - I think someone on here has that username also!

Rollergirl1 · 21/01/2010 09:00

I'm just about to go out. Think will try Week 2 R1 today. Will report back afterwards. Tis raining again though.

MmeLindt · 21/01/2010 09:10

That is dedication.

Grey and misty here, but supposed to get better in the afternoon. Will wait a bit.

CJCregg · 21/01/2010 10:14

Wuglet (sorry to hear about your injuries) could you please shout at me too?

It's only Day 2 and I just don't feel like it. Grey, miserable day out there, stayed up too late last night, am still in dressing gown , feel like a lazy slut ...

MmeLindt · 21/01/2010 10:19

CJ
WWCJD? She would get on her running machine (like on the very first episode, but please don't fall off) and get going.

Am currently ironing and watching WW.

CJCregg · 21/01/2010 10:28

Mme Lindt, you're quite right. Though of course I should have been running between 5 and 6am.

Hope you're enjoying the Women of Qumar. My ironing board is broken otherwise I'd be doing the same thing.

Right, I'm going. In a minute. Really.

JosiahBartlet · 21/01/2010 10:41

ClaudiaJean
Get running, NOW. That is a direct order from your President.

Rollergirl1 · 21/01/2010 10:54

Did my 3rd run this morning. It's amazing the difference that running for an extra 30secs each time makes. My legs feel much heavier now than they did with the other runs. I also noticed while stretching this morning that I have a sharp pulling sensation in the ball of my foot. Hope this isn't the beginnings of an injury already!

Come on CJ, just think how smug and pleased you'll feel afterwards!

CJCregg · 21/01/2010 10:55

YES, MR PRESIDENT

CJCregg · 21/01/2010 11:00

(I'll be back to bwief you later)

JosiahBartlet · 21/01/2010 11:13

Good girl, CJ.

CJCregg · 21/01/2010 11:58

Thank you, MmeLindt, SIR.

Done it. Feel incredibly pleased with myself. Am very jealous of Claudia Schiffer running in glorious heat surrounded by butterflies ... I run round the local cricket pitch, which is muddy and a tad dull. A dog came up a chased me today! Gave me the shock of my life, as I was in the zone, listening to that awful music and thinking about the shepherd's pie I'm going to make tonight (I'm sure the bursts of poetry will come later).

So, Week One, Day Two is done. I have got to keep this up. Thanks everyone - wouldn't have done it without this thread.

MmeLindt · 21/01/2010 12:19

Oh, well done. CJ would be proud of you, making a stand for sisterhood and democracy.

CJCregg · 21/01/2010 13:00

MmeLindt, if I can do this, the possibilities are limitless!

wuglet · 21/01/2010 14:16

Ok this is to everyone......

WHATCHOO DOIN SAT ON YO FAT ASS? GITCHOR GEAR ON AND GIT OUTSIDE!!

(except me )

Maybe I will play more of a inspirational/co-ordinating role from now on.....

It's not fair I want to run tooooo

Just ran the mile - in 20 mins with hardly any walking breaks.

I cannot believe it, I have just looked back at my first run and I was struggling to run the 1 minute stretches. Now I ran most of the first half mile and all the way back.

CJCregg · 21/01/2010 15:01

Wow, Mme Lindt, indeed!

Is that Week 3? Will I really be able to do that in two weeks' time?

So impressed. Have a White House souvenir pen.

MmeLindt · 21/01/2010 15:26

Thanks CJ.

That was week 2, day 3 of the Bupa plan. And of course you will be able to do that soon.

popsycal · 21/01/2010 19:12

oi

some of you need to join us on the mn marathon relay thred

catchingzeds · 21/01/2010 20:19

Hi all

Just completed my 3rd run and do you know I'm surprised to feel an improvement already and I cocked up and walked for 1 min in between runs instead of 2
Feel so proud of myself and actually enjoyed my 1st run in the rain! Need to get some sort of reflective gear though, felt a bit dodgy on the quieter roads.

We CAN do it!

CJCregg · 21/01/2010 20:29

Is the Bupa plan better? I'm doing Robert thingy. With the podcast thingies. Is it the same?

llareggub · 21/01/2010 20:39

I'm on a rest day and am desperately trying to think of a clever West Wing name but can't. So I think I might be Mrs Bartlett cos she was Rizzo in Grease.

mrsjuan · 21/01/2010 20:54

Did my 3rd run tonight and I think it seemed a bit easier. I certainly didn't find myself so desperate for the minute to end! I think I would really struggle without the recovery walks though so still got a long way to go.

Not sure which plan I'm doing. I just googled 'couch to 5k' and downloaded a podcast.

Rollergirl1 · 21/01/2010 21:13

CJ: They are slightly differing, not too much in it. I was intending to do the Bupa plan but realised that I would be forever checking my watch to know when to change pace, whereas Robert's podcasts do it all for you.

I think they both get you to 5k in 8/9 weeks.

The [[http://www.bupa.co.uk/running/training/training-programmes/beginner-5km/ bupa one is here] and the couch to 5k is here
