Sorry to the ongoing couch to 5k thread but I am looking for others just starting out (and it looks like there might be quite a few of us on popsycal's thread).

So...anyone starting week 1 this week?

I did go on Saturday. Managed the 30 mins. Only did 4k but the main thing is that I am running non-stop for 30 mins. Who'd have thought it

well done lush! it's great isn't it? and bizarre when you think 10 weeks ago (12 i think in my case) we were not running at all

sorry i didn't reply for a bit, the thread fell off my threads I'm on, i think
i went out again on sunday and did another near-5k
not really sure what to do next, dp said "this is what you need" and gave me this article from runner's world which was all about working out your optimum rate by running for 6 mins, then you had to run at 60% of this pace for 3 mins, then 80% for xyz mins - omg it was terrible! he actually thought i would sit down and work all this out and then time myself - this is so not me

might post for ideas, i don't really want to go for a 10k atm, suppose i could try to improve my 5k speed

That kind of schedule would have me running for the hills rather than running at pace for xyz minutes Far too demanding for me. I don't like too much pressure! Went again yesterday. Back less painful - was sore after saturday. Did some back raises before I went so hopefully that helped. The run combined with 5min warm up and 5min cool down is about 4.5k so distance is ok overall but would be good to get the run part to 5k. I will have a think about the best way to improve my speed because I don't feel that I can run any faster at the moment as I feel I have given pretty much everything by the time I get to 30 mins of running. I find I am most comfortable in the 10-20 min period of running. Maybe I could up the pace for some of that period?
Yes - you are right, pretty amazing how far we have come from not running at all I think I will try running outside at some point as well, just to compare performance.
Will catch up with you on the sport and exercise board (if not here)
