Hello

Lots of you have me advice when I joined a PureGym - I ordered clothes and stuff then got ill so didn’t go. Now better I have been attending and can report that is has been great. If you are considering joining I would absolutely recommend it. I have been helped by lots of different staff, done classes and use two different venues. Have found it all
very friendly and easy to engage with. Am just back from a session and feel great. Now I just have two ish stone to get rid of and some cardiovascular fitness to get back. 💪

Ha what I didn’t add was that I am eating like a beast - those weight loss gains will have gone!

I ate lots whilst away and drank more. It's hard losing weight in my 50s. I'm back on hrt and struggle losing weight on that.

BelgianBeers · 14/05/2025 22:02

Yeah I think my patches don’t help. This week I have been out of the house 14hrs from the past three days of work - funnily enough I am lacking mojo!

You must be shattered.
Had a decent walk today. Felt it as we came up a steep hill.

BelgianBeers · 15/05/2025 07:21

I definitely deserve a good walk this weekend.

LushLemonTart · 17/05/2025 11:27

Are there many nice walking spots near you @BelgianBeers ?

BelgianBeers · 19/05/2025 19:19

Hello,

Well we are on the edge of the city in a place that has doubled in size so some of my old faves are not what they were - they often have other people on these days! If you know your way though there are some lovely woodland trails and within a shortish drive many others. I need to have a whole rethink about Jan - May as every year everything goes to pot and work takes over big time. Am quite often in a few roles or have acquired extra this and that so need to make different choices.

I am putting the crisps down this week and making better choices. I think the shoulder is buggered though - probably turning into a frozen shoulder which will be a pain. Still at least it’s not a leg!

How is it going? I have a coldy cold and the red nose of doom and chesty cough. Welcome half term🤦‍♀️😂. Still at least I will calm down with the eating!

Hope you feel better soon.
Did some major hiking yesterday. Steep hills and more miles than usual. Dh and I were camping.

I need to do some upper body work.

BelgianBeers · 25/05/2025 09:04

Camping is ace. Sounds like a lovely time. I am at a big party this weekend then am off for a decent walk on Monday. Feeling much better so hurray!

Good news @BelgianBeers . Glad you're a lot better.

I've been working most of the weekend but away tomorrow and should get some walking done.

BelgianBeers · 30/05/2025 22:34

How are you doing? I have been very sociable cocktails and tea person this week but am restarting gym on Monday. Am going to aim for two months of goodness. Should do as am doing the three peaks then!

OP posts:
LushLemonTart · 01/06/2025 07:12

I haven't done much. Been socialising plenty though 🙈
Haven't gained much weight. I need to do some exercise this coming week.
3 peaks is really hard. Have you been doing hills?

BelgianBeers · 06/06/2025 13:29

If only socialising made you fit. I am away this weekend for more meals and drinks - I hadn’t noticed until I started posting how much I am out!

I have not done a hill in ages! I will start though - I did them last year with no prep and my strong legs get me through. It’s the cv fitness I need. It was a work out and a half. I have tried some classes but it’s all a bit meh with only one working arm - need to get on the stair machine. Have been scared of it! I figure I still have about two months so if I go for it can turn things round. I am less busy with work but have replaced the work with socialising…how are you doing - sunny hear today. It would be a great walk day.

I think this thread has shown me just how crap I am at making changes stay - I guess I am not back on caffeine, am eating more good meals, am a few pounds lighter compared to my heaviest. Erm that is it.

@BelgianBeers it's a good record for us if nothing else 😂
I did some weighted squats and arm weight exercises last night whilst watching tv. I need to keep that up.

BelgianBeers · 08/06/2025 17:50

It’s a record of my eating! This weekend I had a three course Turkish feast and an amazing cream tea - oh and cocktails🤦‍♀️. I did a decent walk too but how far wouid I have to walk to make that ok!

OP posts:
LushLemonTart · 09/06/2025 11:13

Oh same. We stayed at a hotel last night. 3 course meal a bottle of wine each a few beers and ouzos. Plus cooked breakfast and toast 🙈
I'm definitely doing exercise later. It's going to have to be hiit I think.

BelgianBeers · 09/06/2025 12:38

Oh well. At least we have fun - that is good for you too right!

I am at physio tonight so will see what they say.

OP posts:
LushLemonTart · 09/06/2025 12:40

Good luck with physio. Chiropractor for me tomorrow. I go every 6 weeks.

BelgianBeers · 10/06/2025 19:08

How was your chiropractor - I love my chiropractor. He can make my back feel so good. Physio told me I have a frozen shoulder . I was thinking this might be it. Boo!

OP posts:
LushLemonTart · 12/06/2025 23:43

Chiropractor was good. I go regularly. I'm only in 10 minutes.

Frozen shoulder isn't good. I hope you can get that sorted.

BelgianBeers · 14/06/2025 10:35

Well in an effort to get back on track I just did twenty mins on the exercise bike and will do yoga and squatting later. I was really enjoying classes but find them all a bit pants with the shoulder - I struggle to adapt things without hurting it is my dominant side which somehow makes me more uncoordinated. Need to focus on legs and at home yoga where I can miss stuff out I think. I am going to stop eating. Just weighed myself and put 5lbs back on - tbh could have been much worse! But still literally back where I started - sigh😂🤦‍♀️😂

LushLemonTart · 14/06/2025 19:44

I've started doing a 10 minute arms video with 4kg hand weights. Harder than it sounds but I'm managing it. I can see a difference already.
I do a hip and groin stretch video too. I have trouble with my left groin so it helps. My chiropractor recommended it.
I haven't lost any weight but haven't gained.
We will get there or at least get fit trying 🙂

BelgianBeers · 22/06/2025 11:43

The arm weights sound good - it’s a shocker how hard some apparently easy exercises are with relatively light weights!

I have done some bike work and yoga but my classroom gets over 35+ very easily and it has been such a hot week I have been wiped out by the time I have been home! I love the heat but not at work! Will hopefully have more mojo this week.

Hope you are doing well x

OP posts:
LushLemonTart · 22/06/2025 14:13

Yikes you must be shattered with that hot house temperature!

I'm OK ta. Just done my hip mobility exercises to help my groin. I do them every other day. Was quite active at work yesterday so felt my legs today.

I'll do arms again tomorrow. And have a walk.

Hope you have a good weekend.
