Hello

Lots of you have me advice when I joined a PureGym - I ordered clothes and stuff then got ill so didn’t go. Now better I have been attending and can report that is has been great. If you are considering joining I would absolutely recommend it. I have been helped by lots of different staff, done classes and use two different venues. Have found it all
very friendly and easy to engage with. Am just back from a session and feel great. Now I just have two ish stone to get rid of and some cardiovascular fitness to get back. 💪

I haven’t been able to update as have been too busy eating and sitting on my fat bottom. Mode switch and am stepping away from the cake again. Have been uploading work and been busy until late so no gym. Am planning to get it all finished this weekend then back to normal. Or back to a better normal. Hope you are all doing better!

I had a nice hike today. Am in Swaledale. Weather was decent. Bit windy now but we're indoors. Had a trip to Richmond n Yorkshire too.

Zero progress here....gym suspended my monthly plan which was nice of them as its the new one i had joined..as i called them and said i was unwell..the sore throat turned into high temperature and totally knocked out with some nasty virus...legs all wobbly..just about mange the stairs...its now day 7 and finally feeling a little better...friend is staying from poland and he caught it before me but much worse...actually spent 9 days in bed unable to get out...!

LushLemonTart · 04/03/2025 23:23

@bumblebee1000 I hope that means you aren't paying?

BelgianBeers · 06/03/2025 19:59

@LushLemonTart that picture is gorgeous - I can almost smell the air. One of my best friends lives in Richmond - lots of lovely walking there too. Today would have been a great day. I enjoyed the sun while on playground duty - need more of it!

I have not managed the great reset - just ate a family size bag of Doritos while waiting for my kids to come out of a club. Only made it back home for five mins so am still in world book day costume and am still starving. Between club demands, driving lessons and mock marking oh and finishing my course - I am very short of time at the moment. Don’t know where it goes!

poor you @bumblebee1000 - what a horrid business. I hope that feel much much better soon.

@BelgianBeers so are you a teacher? And you're studying and have dcs. You must be worn out!

BelgianBeers · 06/03/2025 23:55

Hmmm suppose put like that it’s maybe not so surprising😂

LushLemonTart · 07/03/2025 11:40

@BelgianBeers did you do any more planking? I'm going to do some today and some yoga. I'm working at the weekend so will struggle to exercise apart from walking about.

BelgianBeers · 07/03/2025 18:38

I haven’t done anything reliably other than eat! The plank is now around a minute though so it has improved. I will do some tonight and a bit of yoga. My squat is a little deeper - by no means deep but better still.

We Will
be getting some warmer walking soon which will be nice:)

LushLemonTart · 07/03/2025 18:44

I have to see the msk physio soon as have a groin problem. So squats are on the back burner.

BelgianBeers · 07/03/2025 19:03

That sounds nasty - hope it clears quickly with some help.

I won’t be doing any for a few days as tripped and walloped my knee into the exercise bike pedal. It’s ok but sore. Ridiculous injury - I have form for similar and really need to stop!

OP posts:
LushLemonTart · 07/03/2025 19:26

It's not too bad. I've had problems for years. Age doesn't help.

BelgianBeers · 09/03/2025 22:41

Age doesn’t help. Well I got on the scales today - thought I would have put it all back on and was only a pound up so that was a win. I do actually think k I have been generally eating much better.
Couldn’t go to class today - needed
to see parents and do some jobs for them so after 4.5 hrs of driving, a load of their cleaning and sorting and then trying to sort all the uniform and broken tumble dryer situation when I got home -I can’t face anything else. Going to do some marking and trying again tomorrow…

Went to the gym, had pulled my shoulder while I slept and it nearly made me howl when I did a lat pull down - I don’t know why I tried either! Left gym earlier than planned and opened a self investment pension. I am not sure how these relate to each other - activities I should have started earlier?

OP posts:
LushLemonTart · 15/03/2025 15:41

Oh no sorry to hear about your shoulder. That's not good at all.

I was out last night and danced loads. Today I did a youtube video for planking. It was only 5 minutes with Russian twists and resting but wasn't easy. But I did it all.

Am having a walk to the shop as out of milk.

Hope you heal soon @BelgianBeers

BelgianBeers · 16/03/2025 18:23

I have just watched that video. Cor blimey. I will report back!

Have booked Tuesday yoga so am trying to use it as a reset and return to the gym. Ironically have been in a gym all day today but was watching one of the children compete and after the long drive back am whacked. Have at least five hours of work to do so no time tonight…

OP posts:
Semiramide · 16/03/2025 18:43

Once you've mastered that, try these (free on YouTube)

  • Bowflex 3-minute plank
  • Caroline Girvan's 15 minute plank (you don't have to do it all at once to begin with!)
I've been doing the Bowflex 3-minute plank virtually every day for years and I cannot tell you how big a difference it has made to my fitness!
LushLemonTart · 16/03/2025 18:50

Enjoy your yoga on Tuesday @BelgianBeers

Cheers @Semiramide

bumblebee1000 · 18/03/2025 21:46

Good to see progress from others !..nothing here, it took ages to get over the horrible virus etc and now yoga is closed for few weeks as my teacher is on holiday. I bought some gym exercise books on Ebay and they arrived today, only a few quid each, used....lots of good info and pictures but far too many types of exercises. Seems there is a huge range to choose from now so will read up.

BelgianBeers · 21/03/2025 22:19

It’s hard to fit in isn’t. I never made yoga - back from work too late… the only real measure of success I can’t find this week is that my eating has been better and I haven’t returned to necking whiskey or caffeine!

LushLemonTart · 21/03/2025 23:17

Had a walk today. I twisted my ankle but luckily managed to walk ok soon after. I thought I was done. Anyway am ok.

Good luck everyone.

BelgianBeers · 24/03/2025 20:15

All sorts are a risky business post 50 - I go from feeling like I always did to realising I have pulled something in an instant.

Glad the foot is ok - am aiming for yoga tomorrow and doing some at home tonight. Eating healthier and feeling positive but laaazzzzzzy

OP posts:
LushLemonTart · 25/03/2025 00:41

Well done eating healthier @BelgianBeers . I started off well with salad today. Then had takeaway with friends. 🙈
I managed a walk and have done lots of cleaning today so plenty of exercise.

BelgianBeers · 30/03/2025 22:19

How are we all doing. Have been pretty meh but did spend today digging and weeding and planting. I will feel it tomorrow. My back has been dodgy all week so it was ambitious really but half way through when it threatened to end my fun I lay in the warm grass and did some of my yoga and stretching moves then carried on. At least I have yoga moves now!

children bought me a lit of chocolate for today and some whisky so have mainly eaten that all day… tomorrow is a new day.
