Hello

Lots of you have me advice when I joined a PureGym - I ordered clothes and stuff then got ill so didn’t go. Now better I have been attending and can report that is has been great. If you are considering joining I would absolutely recommend it. I have been helped by lots of different staff, done classes and use two different venues. Have found it all
very friendly and easy to engage with. Am just back from a session and feel great. Now I just have two ish stone to get rid of and some cardiovascular fitness to get back. 💪

@BelgianBeers gardening is so strenuous. Wish I still had one. We have a yard. Lots of pots though.

I've had a decent hilly walk 2 days ago. Been working this weekend.

Hopefully more exercise tomorrow.

BelgianBeers · 01/04/2025 12:18

Walking is glorious - I have hardly got out that way recently.

The gardening was for six hours and involved an axe, a spade and fork, a chain saw and a lot of sweat. I can barely move - my hamstrings!!

it’s not a big garden but is being redone so lots of work needed. I need to crack on before growth takes over so I think it will be my gym this week.

Yikes 6 hours!
I'm off work today. Going out for tea with my 2 sons. They're paying. I'll try not to eat too much 🤣
Think I'll get out for a walk soon. Weather is lovely.

BelgianBeers · 01/04/2025 20:25

How lovely that your boys are taking you for tea. Mine bought me lots of very nice chocolate for Mother’s Day - I erm meant to make it last…

We had a nice meal and some beers. On the train back home now.
That's lovely you got chocs.

BelgianBeers · 02/04/2025 00:39

Sounds like we both have lovely boys:)

LushLemonTart · 02/04/2025 01:05

Yes mine are adults now. Both have careers. That was a worry when they were growing.

BelgianBeers · 02/04/2025 13:20

Aw lovely. Mine range from 12-16-19 so we have all that job stuff ahead although the eldest is doing an apprenticeship and is thriving. All are obsessed with fitness so I get list of good role models!

That's good they're into fitness.
Not much happening today. Short walk with MIL. Nice and sunny here.

BelgianBeers · 09/04/2025 09:29

Well holidays and although I have been in teaching revision it has meant I am the lunch queen - three so far plus a big night out full of of cocktails and dancing. I have pulled my shoulder / finding lots of yoga a challenge - it’s an old injury that I upset sometimes without realising but am digging out a bramble patch that’s about 15ft x4ft and it’s heavy going! Woke up super stiff and have a walk then more digging so no gym but plenty of knackering! Hope you are all doing ok - moving more seems better in the sun:)

Hope your shoulder heals soon @BelgianBeers ?
I was at the physio yesterday. Been waiting a while for an appointment. I have a groin issue.. Had it years and I had seen a physio before at the GP. She said it was my age! This physio was horrified when I told him that. Said I'm more flexible and stronger than a lot of younger women. That made my day 🤣 He told me what exercises to do and I did them last night. Also did yoga yesterday. Just off youtube. Yoga with Adrienne. She's fab.

Away for a couple of nights and will hopefully get up a hill. I'm going to try and eat less and healthy.

BelgianBeers · 10/04/2025 16:36

That sounds like a very validating appointment - hurrah!

age - honestly, it’s not a good enough answer. I am still digging - have dug up a briar patch and teased out tons of nettles and couch grass. I have been using my shit squat more than my back so am doing ok! Another few hours of digging then some chainsaw work and some gentle raking. I will also do some Adrianne to restore mobility.

Had an 8.5 mile hike yesterday up steep steps and a big hill. I can feel it today. That would have been nothing a few years ago. Need to get back to doing the hills and miles.

That is beautiful - what a view.

But as your physio reminded you - you are well ahead of many. I reminded myself of that as I carried and in one case rolled Yorkshire stones from my front to back garden today. The toddler hip carry was quite useful and I remembered to keep squatting rather than using my back. Am just having a drink before getting up the ladder to paint the apex of the shed. I have had a little Robin keeping me company today - such personable little birds.
When the garden is wrestled back from neglect and the subsequent redesign I shall be back to the gym. Hopefully ky should er will have eased off or I will try my physio too. He never says it’s age!

Well done @BelgianBeers . Garden work is an amazing workout.

Yes you're right about the physio. Although I'm very stiff today. It's reminded me I need to get fitter.

BelgianBeers · 13/04/2025 23:45

Did some planking today and 4 tips runs with 4 of those massive bags builders deliver sand in which were full of gardening waste! Did some more hedge trimming and have significantly deepened my squat with all the gardening!

OP posts:
LushLemonTart · 14/04/2025 15:30

@BelgianBeers good stuff.
I've done my groin exercises the physio gave me. Worked all weekend so chilling today. I'll get some exercise in tomorrow and maybe plank tonight?

BelgianBeers · 27/04/2025 21:35

Well I have been too busy eating to post. Like a drunken hungry caterpillar🤦‍♀️. Shoulder is so sore and mum off colour so have been up and down the motorway instead of anywhere else. Am being better this week - but this month is a crazy one work wise. Sigh must do better!

OP posts:
LushLemonTart · 27/04/2025 21:52

Sorry to hear that. Hope mum is getting better?
I had a 5 mile hilly walk today. Really felt it. Not that far but strenuous.

BelgianBeers · 05/05/2025 14:37

Helloooo

Hope you have had some great walks:) I have paused the gym membership - need to clear the glut of work and finish my course so am focusing on planking and yoga. Not doing loads but keeping moving although the shoulder is not happy. Am sorting some physio this week. My squat is much deeper and if I hold a weight I can get right down so am doing lots of stretching and squatting. Will go back to the gym next month and hopefully get stuck back in.

Glad all's well. I'm at the lakes. Big hike tomorrow and them gym and spa.
Squats with weights are really good for you.

BelgianBeers · 06/05/2025 23:15

Hope your hike was lovely - the weather should have been decent?

I have squatted and planked and that’s about it. Have marked over 150 exams in the past three days so haven’t had much time for anything else! Having taken on board the planking I know do some after every bath - it’s working. My paltry planking number is going up!

OP posts:
LushLemonTart · 06/05/2025 23:37

It's been stunning in the lakes. We're here a few more days. I walked up a hill and total was about 5 miles in total. Swam at the spa and had a sauna, steam room and jacuzzi. So am hoping I won't ache tomorrow? Might have another lower level walk?
I should do planks. My stomach is pretty big. I need to cut down on calories too.

BelgianBeers · 10/05/2025 14:20

My planks are going well - my exercise has shown me that I really need core work. My squatting removes my wonky hip feel and iband discomfort so although not humming at the mo I am doing lots of up and down squats and it helps! Am just about to go past my busiest time at work so looking forward to getting h out and about more! Hope you are doing well

OP posts:
LushLemonTart · 10/05/2025 14:52

I'm really tired today so not doing much apart from tidying etc.
You sound like you're doing well.
I'm starting keto (yesterday) so am hoping to lose about a stone before my next holiday?
