Parkrunners Assemble - reviving the thread that will remind you "do not forget you barcode"

Hi everyone,
it's been a while since we've had a thread for Parkrunners to share how their run went. So if you ran today , which event were you at, how did you go and if you have the 5K app, did you get any new achievements?

I'm in Australia, so we are at the start of our summer and it was a sunny morning in the low 20s so great for a run. I was at Mosman (Sydney) with my son, it's a 3 lap, out and back course with a short steep hill at the turnaround , that seems longer and steeper each lap.
I came about half-way and the only 5K app achievement I got was for Date Bingo.

Hope everyone else had a good day too

Morning everyone,
It was a sunny day here in Sydney for event 444 at Curl Curl, so I got a Nelson on the 5K app, and there were a lot of first timers and tourists so we had about 400 runners.
I did better than my average time and got Position Bingo, so very pleased all round.

Hope no-one is rained / iced out and you all have a good run.
A shout out too , to anyone volunteering, someone today was doing their 100th volunteer at my local parkrun

Both my local ones have been cancelled due to icy conditions overnight, and too cold for volunteers to stand out in for two hours Blush

HouseofHolbein · 21/01/2023 09:36

I'm at work this morning but ours was cancelled anyway due to icy paths.

Tigresses · 21/01/2023 10:25

Got out this morning to Black Park - icy but beautiful in the forest

BogRollBOGOF · 21/01/2023 10:38

-3⁰C for us. Some avoidable ice patches, took it steady. Good run 😊

SerenadeOfTheSchoolRun · 21/01/2023 10:40

Course PB and palindrome for me this morning. 😁 Parkrun number 99! Silly headwear at the ready for next week.

miked99 · 21/01/2023 10:47

SerenadeOfTheSchoolRun congrats on the PB , but palindrome is just as good ...there's only about 10 exact times you can get that with

Well done all! Hope the volunteers stayed warm enough. We had a leisurely jog around the course, mostly trail and quite crunchy underfoot. A smaller field than my home run so I came in under 100 which I haven’t done for a while.

Gufo · 21/01/2023 12:10

Ours went ahead with just a couple of icy patches - lovely blue skies and lots of birdsong, and followed up with a great latte!

Second park run of 2023 for me. I've just discovered the app and think that will be great motivation. I did a few park runs a couple of years ago, so nice to see I'd already made progress on some of the challenges!

Yorkshiregold · 21/01/2023 13:33

Foggy and icy one for me. Course PB, primes and date bingo 5k app trophies so very happy, thanks to our volunteers for gritting the paths. Well done all of you for getting out there, thank you to the volunteers & I hope the icy courses thaw out by next weekend.

WormEater · 21/01/2023 21:11

Was amazed at the amount of ice that the volunteers cleared from the course to make it runnable today. Was a fantastic bunch of people. Ran with dc2 today, so a little slower than I would have liked, but delighted she decided to have a go.

miked99 · 22/01/2023 08:53

Wow - I had no idea so many courses would be iced-out, well done to everyone whose course was ok and managed to get a run in, and to Yorkshire on a PB in terrible conditions.
Fingers crossed its better next week

@miked99 I think most of us that were running & probably all of the volunteers were wishing we were in Australia!

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 22/01/2023 12:53

Ooooh I have just realised that I hardly did any parkruns in 2017, so this year is a good chance to fill in some gaps in my date bingo.

I need 3 more for my stopwatch bingo, have been stuck for months.

miked99 · 27/01/2023 23:16

Thanks to a public holiday and a last minute deal we're on a long weekend break in Canberra. There's a few Parkruns to choose from but we picked Umbagong District as we needed a 'U'. Seems like we weren't the only ones as two people there said they were completing their alphabet.
It's a very undulating course alongside a river with occasional snake and kangaroo sightings. But thankfully for us there wasn't anything on the course today.
I finished in the top half and apart from Alphabeteer I got Namely and Date Bingo so happy all round

First one for me tomorrow since Christmas Eve, and no backing out as I'm giving some visitors a lift from their hotel (paying forward someone doing the same for me when I was a tourist!)

Just at the cusp of regretting the 4 3 glasses of wine I've dipped tonight.

Don't forget your barcode everyone!

FettleOfKish · 27/01/2023 23:20

*sipped not dipped

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 28/01/2023 00:29

Well done @miked99 ! Enjoy the long weekend.

Nice one @FettleOfKish

I’m volunteering tomorrow bringing up the rear as tail walker. Have good runs everyone!

LizziesTwin · 28/01/2023 07:23

My 50th and I’m taking cake

Last Saturday and this Saturday no parkrun for me as it clashes with my crochet course🤣. Hoping to return on 4th Feb but it'll be a local one for me as I'm going to the theatre in the afternoon!

I have, however, been planning various camping trips in the summer with the hope of incorporating some parkrun tourism!

HoollyWugger · 28/01/2023 11:11

Did my second one today with DP making me run more than I wanted to so hopefully an improvement on my last time, and won't be last in my age group!

SerenadeOfTheSchoolRun · 28/01/2023 11:29

100th parkrun for me today 🎉

I was away from home but felt amongst friends.

BogRollBOGOF · 28/01/2023 11:39

I've park runned (?) again. I've had a really consistent month with pleasing times.

I definitely run better generally when I'm having a good time at parkrun. It's just easier running in company, something I pretty much don't get chance to do otherwise, and those gains transfer to my other runs.

Gufo · 28/01/2023 13:24

Best time of 2023, and ticked off various Bingos including a Nelson - completely by chance! Park Run has given me my running mojo back!

HoollyWugger · 28/01/2023 13:45

Well, I was still last in my age group but four minutes faster than last time thanks to DP making me run. 48mins +
Still embarrassingly slow, I feel, but it's motivation to do better!
I've ordered an inhaler because my breathing is so crap, I'm sure I've got exercise-induced asthma!
