Hi everyone,
it's been a while since we've had a thread for Parkrunners to share how their run went. So if you ran today , which event were you at, how did you go and if you have the 5K app, did you get any new achievements?

I'm in Australia, so we are at the start of our summer and it was a sunny morning in the low 20s so great for a run. I was at Mosman (Sydney) with my son, it's a 3 lap, out and back course with a short steep hill at the turnaround , that seems longer and steeper each lap.
I came about half-way and the only 5K app achievement I got was for Date Bingo.

Hope everyone else had a good day too

I got a fantastic time this morning, 2 minutes faster then when I started Mid-November.

Cornishmumofone · 31/12/2022 21:55

Well done @miked99 on your achievements. I managed to get parkrun gold obsessive today 😊

24petlegs · 01/01/2023 12:13

After a hard (non Parkrun) race yesterday, I took the dog to our local
Parkrun. No PB for the dog today- a bit too muddy, cold and rainy for his liking. He had fun though!
Picked up a 'position bingo' and a 2023 season best time Wink

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 01/01/2023 12:20

Well done @24petlegs @Cornishmumofone and @scaryg on your achievements.

I tried out my new trainers today - not that they helped me go any faster! Completed my festive double, and another run closer to my 250.

Happy New Year to all, here's to lots of parkrun fun this year.

SerenadeOfTheSchoolRun · 01/01/2023 15:26

A lovely New Years Day parkrun where all the keen park runners round here were concentrated in one place. Not a bad time and good to see everyone. Good start to 2023.

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 06/01/2023 21:51

Evening runners! All ready for tomorrow?

@miked99 must be about time for your parkrun to start?

SerenadeOfTheSchoolRun · 06/01/2023 22:03

I don’t know where to go - was going to volunteer but it is cancelled so I am a free agent with choices. The weather isn’t going to be great though….

miked99 · 06/01/2023 22:05

OhOneOhTwoOhThree it would be over now, but it's absolutely belting down rain here. So my son and I jointly decided that we would go for run later in the weekend instead. Hope everyone else has a good run

Oh no @miked99! Rain forecast here too tomorrow. I'm going to stay local.

beguilingeyes · 07/01/2023 07:49

I've been really sick recently with the #notcovid that's going around so I haven't run for aaaages.
However, my husband is tailwalker at our local one this morning and I'm going to try to go with him. First time I've been further than the garden all week.

HouseofHolbein · 07/01/2023 10:21

I went this morning! Ran the whole thing which is the first time for a while due to #notcovid. Husband did his second one and left me in the dust 🤣🤣

SerenadeOfTheSchoolRun · 07/01/2023 10:39

Made It out for a flat parkrun with some deep puddles at the end. It didn’t rain too hard during the run thank goodness after a bit of a wild wet and windy night. Steady pace as trying to save my legs for a 10K tomorrow.

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 07/01/2023 11:23

Quite wet and windy here, but only a few seconds slower than last week, which I’ll take in those conditions.

@beguilingeyes hope you feel better for being out in the fresh air.

@HouseofHolbein well done for running al the way.

@SerenadeOfTheSchoolRun hope the 10k goes well tomorrow!

Last time I did parkrun was 2015, I'm not a natural runner and haven't "had a go" for about 3 years. But I got some new trainers for Christmas, decided to use them, and made a New Years resolution to do 20 parkruns this year. It's a bit daft with no training, but hey ho, and I've got dh to encourage me, he's a good runner.

I started last week on new year's day, it was torrential rain, mud etc. Not fun, but no worries, time 42.31.

This week, only a bit rainy, time 41.31.

Two down, 18 to go 😊. ( by which time maybe I'll be hooked and keep going)

Standingonlego · 07/01/2023 11:39

I was still in bed at 8.55…but I still made it, managed to catch the tail Walker up ☺️

brownbear201 · 07/01/2023 12:08

I went this morning. 31:55. My slowest time for a while considering I didn't stop. But I haven't ran for 6 weeks so it is what it is. Well done everyone! :)

WormEater · 07/01/2023 12:16

Managed to get there this morning, first time since pre pandemic. Hopefully this is the start of me park running again. My target is to try for 20 runs in a year. I really hate running so it will definitely be a challenge.

Yorkshiregold · 07/01/2023 12:20

Impressive work standingonlego, I nearly talked myself out of it but had to drop my son off at football which is on the way to parkrun. I got a fastest time for the year so I’ll take that even though it was wet, windy & miserable!

Keeping going without stopping is a great achievement if you haven’t run for 6 weeks brownbear201.
Amigababy new trainers are always great inspiration. I hope you keep going beyond 20!
Well done everyone, I think parkrun is one of the best starts to the weekend!

LizziesTwin · 07/01/2023 12:41

Couldn’t go today due to other responsibilities & mud and still feeling slightly agrieved.

24petlegs · 07/01/2023 12:43

Windy, rainy and muddy this morning. Trail shoes couldn't grip so just slid round!
Time was slower but that was to be expected. Think I got 4th lady but results aren't out yet.

Gufo · 07/01/2023 12:46

Park run 18 in the bag - this has taken about 6 years, so determined to go more regularly and get my 25 milestone this year! Sub-35 so happy with that but want to get back to my sub-30 time too. My local one starts with a bottle neck so the first minute is wasted annoyingly.

Running in the wind and rain wasn't as bad as I thought it would be and only nearly slid over once.

QueSyrahSyrah · 07/01/2023 12:49

Lashing down and blowing a gale here so after a week of early starts we stayed in bed Blush

There's always next week!

EATmum · 07/01/2023 12:51

Ran my local course today (Bushy Park) and so nearly didn't go - was tired and the weather was crap. So now I've got that extra smugness that's I achieve from running when I really didn't want to. 😀

BogRollBOGOF · 07/01/2023 12:54

DH bailed this morning so I went to my local one on my own. It wasn't as wet and windy as it had first appeared, just refreshing and mild.

Sub 32 mins which is pleasing. I wanted a "run" run, but not pushing too hard, particularly as I've got a HM to run later in the week for marathon training.

amigababy · 07/01/2023 12:58

Me too. Do you have anyone to encourage you? I'd not even get out of bed if dh wasn't going. But he says he wouldn't go either on a rainy day, if he wasn't shepherding me round 😁. He's a fair weather runner.

I'm hoping to get below 40 minutes, which apparently I did in 2015! I don't remember this.
