Hi everyone,
it's been a while since we've had a thread for Parkrunners to share how their run went. So if you ran today , which event were you at, how did you go and if you have the 5K app, did you get any new achievements?

I'm in Australia, so we are at the start of our summer and it was a sunny morning in the low 20s so great for a run. I was at Mosman (Sydney) with my son, it's a 3 lap, out and back course with a short steep hill at the turnaround , that seems longer and steeper each lap.
I came about half-way and the only 5K app achievement I got was for Date Bingo.

Hope everyone else had a good day too

Well, I was still last in my age group but four minutes faster than last time thanks to DP making me run. 48mins +
Still embarrassingly slow, I feel, but it's motivation to do better!
I've ordered an inhaler because my breathing is so crap, I'm sure I've got exercise-induced asthma!

That's brilliant!

I volunteered as tailwalker recently on a wet and soggy day expecting to walk the whole way round and was pleasantly surprised to finish behind a man who was walk/jogging at around 48 mins ish. Everyone knew him, cheered him on, gave him encouragement and he told me he'd done 250 at that particular parkrun location alone! It was the best parkrun I'd done in ages!!!!

FettleOfKish · 29/01/2023 09:30

@NatMoz That sounds like a regular runner at my local Parkrun!

Well done everyone on the milestones and PBs Star

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 29/01/2023 11:41

Tail walking is my favourite volunteer duty. I’ve met some lovely people and heard some wonderful stories.

i was so focused on working towards my 250 runs that I didn’t notice I’m not far off 50 volunteer credits as well - so will aim to achieve both on the same day.

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 03/02/2023 22:02

Evening all. Hope you all have nice plans for tomorrow. I’m undecided, I’m travelling in the morning to visit family so have a number of options for stopping on the way, depending how early I get out of bed and which route I take.

@miked99 did you run today?

miked99 · 04/02/2023 01:24

There was an annual big 10k event today that uses part of my usual parkrun course so it wasn't on and I went to another nearby one instead.
I had a bit of a panic as there weren't any flags or anything and I thought it was cancelled too, but it turned out the person with the equipment was stuck in traffic and would miss the start. But the other volunteers improvised with hats and bags for route markers and we did the run so a big thanks to them.
I got date bingo, position bingo and primes this week.
Good luck to everyone running and volunteering this weekend.

Run director this morning at my home parkrun. All went well thank goodness - was dreaming about being late to it the other night!

Yorkshiregold · 04/02/2023 12:33

Where did you end up @OhOneOhTwoOhThree ?
3 trophies @miked99 , great work! I got date bingo & a new course PB on my home run.
Glad all went smoothly as RD @SerenadeOfTheSchoolRun

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 04/02/2023 19:26

Glad all went smoothly @SerenadeOfTheSchoolRun! Must be nerve wracking!

I got date and stopwatch bingo this morning. I usually run/walk but didn't have my watch on so just jogged around and surprised myself with a decent time for grass/trail instead of my usual tarmac. I ended up about an hour from home, at a new one for me.

HoollyWugger · 04/02/2023 20:02

My third parkrun today - a run-walk affair - but finally I wasn't last in my age group! 5th out of 11. Hurray!!

CalmConfident · 05/02/2023 16:59

A nice walk n chat parkrun yesterday. junior parkrun today …a full roster so I had a lie in. Back on RD duties next week

miked99 · 10/02/2023 20:58

Pulled a muscle during the week, so no Parkrun for me.
Hope you all have a good run or volunteer this weekend

No parkrun for me this week I have a bad kidney infection. Also not volunteering as don't want to risk getting freezing cold and making myself worse

beguilingeyes · 10/02/2023 22:40

I've fallen off the horse in a big way recently with illness and apathy so I'll be walking tomorrow.

CalmConfident · 10/02/2023 23:02

I am still walking round, but I’ll be there :) Run 260…

NatMoz · 11/02/2023 11:07

I completed my NENDY this morning. I've been meaning to do it for months and months and today was the day! It's only 5 miles from my house so I've had no excuse really.

Baby kept me up last night so after mile one i was ready to give up as i had no energy. Finished it in around 36 mins. Just waiting for the official results to come through to see if I've successfully completed any challenges such as stopwatch bingo on the app!

SerenadeOfTheSchoolRun · 11/02/2023 11:36

New one for me this morning - last minute change of plans as friend’s train was delayed so we went to her. Love that you can do that with parkrun. I have started feeling sick at the finish which is a bit embarrassing. Has happened the last three times.

Really nice to meet our friend there and also met someone to chat to on the course. Great morning.

SerenadeOfTheSchoolRun · 11/02/2023 11:49

Oooh and a stopwatch bingo - dead on 34 minutes today 😃

Oooh and a stopwatch bingo - dead on 34 minutes today 😃

I was dead on 36 mins and got my 00 too on Saturday!

miked99 · 18/02/2023 01:34

Hi everyone,
I was back at my home course of Curl Curl for the first time in a month today.
It's round a lagoon in a park and with a lot of humidity in the air there was morning mist in some parts we ran past - very atmospheric.
I was a little worse than my past few runs, so not a great day, but got Position Bingo.
Hope everyone else has a good run or volunteer

Well done @miked99 - even if about slower than your best you were still out there.

I had my best time so far this year today. Still way below my PB but good to see improvement. One of my friends ran her 300th parkrun today so we celebrated with coffee and cake afterwards.

brooksghost · 18/02/2023 13:13

New PB for me today plus a PrimeNumber.
New best agegrade as well with 77% so very happy.
Split times were consistent so I'm pleased with that!

SerenadeOfTheSchoolRun · 18/02/2023 13:45

Back to an old favourite course this morning - first time for ages. Friendly runners, beautiful views. All good.

Yorkshiregold · 18/02/2023 16:45

Well done everyone for getting out there today. I got a prime number on my home course.

BogRollBOGOF · 18/02/2023 17:09

I had a nice steady one with DS and he got a course best which was a nice surprise. I thought he'd done that course faster and wasn't expecting him to knock the best part of 5 mins off!

The poor kid's stuck with the arm's length rule for 12 more months. I'm cramping his style!

NatMoz · 18/02/2023 17:19

No car today and a baby to boot so i volunteered as a marshall at my local one half a mile away (route not suitable for running buggies as too narrow).

I was at a tight corner and one of the speediest men overbalanced and nearly fell into the pond!

One man was doing his 250th today and he was recovering from cancer! There was a parkrun article written about him.

Back on it next week - not sure where yet though.
