Third year for me aiming to be as active as possible most days. So join me in setting a goal and keeping on track by logging on here Smile. I’ve set a 500mile run target this year to be realistic as I’ve nursed foot issues most of 2021 which really curtailed my running miles but sea swimming and trail running have developed into my passions. What’s your challenge this year?

My local pool only allow us 50 minutes so no chance I can get 2k+ in Sad

Lakes are getting warmer though (FINALLY above 10!) so we're steadily heading up to 2k now Smile

Our sessions are either 45 minutes or an hour. I'm conflicted at the moment as I'm reasonably fast and can do 3k in an hour, but if I do a proper set instead of just continuous swimming I end up swimming less km in total. So it's a choice between chasing miles or actually doing proper swim training. So much depends on the speed of other people in the lane too.

drspouse · 29/04/2021 21:07

I'm only up to 16 lengths anyway so no real distance for me!

SSwimCycle21 · 30/04/2021 14:33

Cycled down for a pool swim over lunchtime. Managed to dodge the hail downpours today!

Running 288km
Swimming 18km
Cycling 559km

drspouse · 30/04/2021 14:38

11k bike plus a swim with DS (though that's mainly standing around and treading water).

tizwozliz · 30/04/2021 15:37

2.45 km swum today, too busy again. 7 people in the fast lane when it's meant to be max 6 per lane. Luckily everyone else got out 15 minutes before the end so not a total waste.

29.3km total swum

TheLongRider · 30/04/2021 17:48

Swimming pools won't be open over here for another month or so. There is a strong sea swimming community, there was war last summer over "dry-robe" wearers as opposed to the regulars "taking over" popular swimming spots. Letters to the Editor and everything! It made The Guardian.

Anyway, April's total is 1,026km - 95% cycling with the remainder walking.

Run1000km2021 · 01/05/2021 08:01

Hahaha @TheLongRider I’ve read about the DryRobe wars😂😂😂 I have one myself and people probably frequently roll their eyes at me😂😂😂

751km of running so far. I ran my highest monthly total ever this month (214km) and I can really start to notice to difference in fitness and speed now.

Plus my VO2 max has come up and is now 47 which is not at all bad for my age (mid thirties)🤩

Ringsender2 · 01/05/2021 13:09

Blimey! Everyone is very busy. I had my first run for a week last night due to sore back (i think it was a food shopping related injury - heavy bags). I felt quite trepidatious about it in case I had lost my fitness. Then reframed it as 'just see what happens'. I ran 9km at 7 mins/km, which included dropping off a bag of stuff to someone, stopping to send a couple of texts before i forgot, having a wee at a petrol station.... so, not bad at all and I really enjoyed it. Swim today. At dryrobe-wars beach!

ErrolTheDragon · 01/05/2021 14:21

We went up to a long ridge that we've not been to for ages. Splendid views to other hills either side; we didn't do quite the full length as it was raining a bit. 7km.

736.9 walked
40k rowed

By the way, this will be post 992 so hopefully the OP will start a new thread and link to it, but otherwise someone else should jump in.

I can get 2k in the 50 mins but doing swim sets I'm only getting 1,500ish Hmm

Driving me batty!!!

I really hope it's a bit more relaxed come winter because I will need to be doing 3/4K swims as part of my IronMan training Sad

FrangipaniBlue · 02/05/2021 00:34

Swimming 🏊‍♀️ 28km
Cycling 🚴🏼‍♀️ 2,134km

Just 6.6 along the canal with DH and DD who decided on a break from revision when the rain cleared up. Its forecast to be horrible tomorrow - I shall defer my bank holiday day off.

19k bike.
Hoping to do my 50k on Sat!

TheLongRider · 02/05/2021 20:52

Finally cracked eight minute VO2 max intervals. Then cut the grass before the rains turn up tomorrow. 198km for the week.

drspouse you will be absolutely fine for your 50km ride.

tizwozliz · 02/05/2021 21:15

8km walk in the peak district yesterday for my birthday followed by 1800m swim in the outdoor pool at Hathersage.

Ringsender2 · 04/05/2021 00:27

@tizwozliz happy birthday. Sounds like a lovely day.

16km suburban walk up the river and back with a friend yesterday morning. I've lived here for 20 years, my friend for longer, and neither of us had been there before. Lovely sunshine, new leaves, flowers and birdsong

Ringsender2 · 04/05/2021 00:29

@FrangipaniBlue that's a lot!!!

I've totally lost count, but I'm sure I'm well behind my target. I've forgotten what that was too Grin
