Third year for me aiming to be as active as possible most days. So join me in setting a goal and keeping on track by logging on here Smile. I’ve set a 500mile run target this year to be realistic as I’ve nursed foot issues most of 2021 which really curtailed my running miles but sea swimming and trail running have developed into my passions. What’s your challenge this year?

30K bike ride, getting there for the 50k.

ErrolTheDragon · 24/04/2021 16:08

Early cloud cleared to another gorgeous day. Just 5.8km by the river, with bluebells coming out well on the south facing slopes.

Took bus to next village and walked back along part of the long distance path that runs through both villages. Glorious, warm morning, lots of skylarks singing overhead.
6k.

Beautiful blue sky but very windy day ere. Went out early for a mixed trail run 11k in the end.

Rest today after my long ride yesterday.

ErrolTheDragon · 25/04/2021 20:07

Another lovely sunny day, a bit cooler. 10.6 along the canal with DH this afternoon and then an evening 4.8 with DD to see the deer, and a peacock, which she'd not realised lived at that farm.

705.3 walked
40 rowed.

TheLongRider · 25/04/2021 21:15

204km around my County's boundaries today. That brings me up to 341km for the week and over 900km for April. Tired now!

tizwozliz · 25/04/2021 21:42

2.75 km swim today. Hip has been bothering me again so cried off the running. The physio had said 6 weeks so still early days but was feeling so much better midweek

21.8km total swim

Run1000km2021 · 26/04/2021 08:15

Wow @TheLongRider that’s quite the ride, well done!

Done a couple of really nice long runs over the last few days, am at 715km for the year now.

Ringsender2 · 26/04/2021 10:06

@TheLongRider - wow! great day for it. How's your bum?
I did a few runs in the week, then litter picking on Saturday. Now I've got a sore back so not much action for me this weekend apart from drinking too much in the park Grin. Hopefully back eases up soon or I'll be back to old (bad) habits!

drspouse · 26/04/2021 10:25

That is an impressive ride @TheLongRider. Are you allowed "out" of your county yet?

TheLongRider · 26/04/2021 10:31

My bum is fine! Well fitted cycling kit and a touch of Sudocrem and I'm fine. It was a lovely day apart from the easterly wind, I'm like a sun-dried tomato despite SPF 50.

We're allowed 20km into the next county from our home, that also gives me a reasonable chunk of the Wicklow Mountains. I saw my first swallows yesterday.

@ErrolTheDragon - sounds like a glorious day

SSwimCycle21 · 26/04/2021 11:09

Wow longrider that’s an epic ride on a beautiful day, well done. Is Ireland a lot quieter on the roads? I went out at 8am and still had to stop several times on quiet lanes for cars in the Devon. But we’ve seen a big increase in cars in last two weeks as loads of people come here on holiday. My DH used to ride a-lot but after busting his shoulder from a car hitting him off his bike, the physio just said it was inevitable he’d get knocked off again at some point Sad he’s switched to trail running now as he feels safer which is such a shame as he loved cycling.

TheLongRider · 26/04/2021 12:27

As with most places, it is possible to find quiet routes, or certain times of day. If any of you are ever over here or want some good route suggestions, drop me a PM. I can give you decent ideas from 20km to 600km+. @Ringsender2 if you haven't been to Glenasmole in Tallaght, it's beautiful, like a part of Kerry 5km from The Square!

ErrolTheDragon · 26/04/2021 15:26

Canal again, 8.4 km and 8 ducklings.Smile. DH had time for half a cup of tea before heading out again to take DD to the river and bluebells. She's got the first of her uni final exams tomorrow so her wish is our command.Grin

Had a really good swim session at lunchtime swimming my first mile in a pool for well over a year. I wasn’t even going to do it but realised there was only two of us left in the lane with 10mins left so I may as well carry on swimming Smile. Really glad I re-joined our main pool as the booking app limits numbers but at the moment isn’t full on all sessions yet.. so I can chose a session only a couple of hours ahead. Last year I was having to book 2-weeks ahead which is tricky at times with a busy schedule.

2.45km swim this morning, then a 5km walk back from the garage after I noticed a chunk missing from a tyre. Then just about to do 5km on the bike to go pick up the car again!

SSwimCycle21 · 27/04/2021 21:14

Nice to get back in the sea tonight for a short swim as the strong eastly winds had finally dropped off.

14k ride with DS and Cubs..DS rode about half the way on his own, which he did really well but got tired/cold. He has sensory issues and won't wear gloves 😥

Run1000km2021 · 28/04/2021 07:33

Another 10km run for me yesterday, I’m finally starting to see real improvements in my pace through upping my mileage.

I also swam my longest continuous pool swim yet yesterday! 1.5km of front crawl without stopping. Fel great.

Running total: 730km

drspouse · 28/04/2021 08:14

Oh and I skinned my knee and have a sore ankle (one of those mystery injuries).
