Thanks @thenewaveragebear1983

Will check back in later with my plan for my miles!

Hope you have a lovely New Year!

MercuryRising · 31/12/2019 09:21

I would like to join you but will aim for 750km if that is ok. I would love to do 1000km but I'm not sure I can commit to almost 20km a week.

amysaurus87 · 01/01/2020 06:42

Happy New Year Everyone!

Here are my stats from last year

Total miles: 1784.09
Daily Average: 4.90
Weekly Average: 34.30
Monthly Average: 148.67

I've decided to set the bar high for 2020 and I want to do 2000 miles this year, it's going to be a real push but I think I can do it!

Accidentalaccountant · 01/01/2020 06:45

Please can I join. Aim is 2020 miles. Probably impossible. But I will try

apples24 · 01/01/2020 06:52

I'll join in if that's ok. 😊 Did 2,000km pre-baby in 2018. 2019 was baby year and recovery from a traumatic labour, only managed 150km with a running buggy towards end of the year.

1,000km for 2020 would see me getting back to my previous self. That and lots more pelvic floor exercises lol 😆

TriSkiRun99 · 01/01/2020 07:54

Thanks bear welcome everyone (waves at Amy.) Smile I’ll update goals later as off to foggy drizzley parkrun now..

kingsassassin · 01/01/2020 08:06

I'm going to give 1000km a go. I love running but it is very easy to talk myself out of running after work which is what I need to do to get it to three or four days per week.

I'm starting with red January and will see where we get to!

TriSkiRun99 · 01/01/2020 10:10

2019 I logged 1017km this year I wasn’t going to aim as high but after my first run today I’m already switching out my 500mile colour in trainer for the 1000km one as I can’t cope with fractions of miles 🤣. I really want to focus on cross training and strength work and lose weight to enable me to run longer distances more comfortably. Next half marathon in 6weeks then I’m tentatively targeting a May Marathon if injuries stay away, if not I’ll find another Triathlon to do.

ParkRun plus 1km done this morning to start me off Smile

Running 6km

onlyfortonight · 01/01/2020 10:28

I have always found this thread late... normally around June. So I am dead pleased to find you lovely ladies on the 1st! My plan for the year is to run a Marathon and complete an Olympic distance triathlon, but I haven’t identified the races yet. I’m going to aim for 2020 miles too @Accidentalaccountant . I managed 1000km by September last year, despite having to have 4 months off due to illness.
Planning a run today, but currently sat in bed with a cuppa and a box of chocolates Grin

thenewaveragebear1983 · 01/01/2020 11:30

Good to see so many joining this year, it was just me, @amysaurus87 and @TriSkiRun99 by the end last year!

2020 miles is a lot! I managed just over 1000 miles in 2019, 1630km, so my target is going to be 1000km for starters and I might extend it if I get there. I've been plagued with minor injury in the last 3 months with an ongoing hamstring/glute injury and also various foot problems, and yesterday was rather concerned that I appeared to be developing plantar pain (although I think that's calf related)

I'm hoping to do another half marathon, and a couple of 10km races but haven't signed up to any yet. I'd like to do one a month.

And my resolution is to stretch, more than currently, and properly. And do some cross training/strength work as well.

Just waiting for Dh to get up and we're going out for a quick 5km

I was rubbish at recording things last year!

I'll give it a go again, til I get bored. I'll aim for 1000 miles running and walking and 500 cycling.

Gentle start today :)

NothingIsWrong · 01/01/2020 15:30

I managed a shade over 1000km last year -aiming for 1000 miles this year, so 1610km (give or take). 6km done this morning!

BursarsDriedFrogPills · 01/01/2020 15:33

Checking in. I'm aiming for 1000k. 4k done this morning on a slow run. 996 to go!

Forcryingoutloudwtf · 01/01/2020 16:02

I'd like to try this. I just started running a few months ago and love it. I'll go for running1000km. 5 down this morning with a parkrun.

Accidentalaccountant · 01/01/2020 17:53

Walked 13 miles today. 2007 to go

MrsJamin · 01/01/2020 18:32

This sounds fun. I'm going to go for 1,000 miles of cycling and running. One school day is 6 miles so that should be doable! 🚴🏼‍♀️

Jumbojem · 01/01/2020 21:53

I'll join in. I've signed up to the Strava 1000km challenge. I record in miles though so will need to work out what it is in miles. We were aiming for parkrun today but nowhere to park (they had over 800 participants with many more stuck in the traffic!) but did manage a 5k run elsewhere. Only managed 350 miles this year due to injury and if I'm honest, laziness!

onlyfortonight · 02/01/2020 18:40

Hurt my neck yesterday (very strenuous...all that eating chocolate in bed), so ran this morning with a friend instead. Finished with a quick swim.

8k run and 1k swim so off the starting blocks at 9k

onlyfortonight · 02/01/2020 18:44

I’ve just worked out how far 2020 miles is in km...3250 Shock
It might take me until 2030...but I’m game! Grin

(We are going to need more chocolate)

thenewaveragebear1983 · 02/01/2020 18:59

@onlyfortonight yes it's a long way, it's twice what I ran this year and I ran the equivalent of 4.5km a day or thereabouts, every single day! Not to bad if cycling, but if running it's a lot.

OP posts:
thenewaveragebear1983 · 02/01/2020 19:00

Obviously that's last year- mind still in 2019 mode....

OP posts:
onlyfortonight · 02/01/2020 20:04

I do a lot of cycling...and have the Dartmoor classic to train for, but still...probably too far Grin

...2020 km instead? And you lot can laugh at my blisters!

OhYouBadBadKitten · 02/01/2020 22:44

I walked 21 miles today.
