All welcome

Did 8 miles on day 2 so now 1999 to go. Won't be able to do much today as off to help my mum with stuff for the day

Outtheforest · 03/01/2020 09:22

Can I join in, have really got out the habit of running the last 4 months so hoping this will get me back into it. Have started with a couple of walks totaling 13km.

kingsassassin · 03/01/2020 11:18

I've run every day so far - all 3 of them. Only short distances because of wanting to go every day through January but so far 8km done - 992 to go.

onlyfortonight · 03/01/2020 18:31

@OhYouBadBadKitten that’s a great walk!

Lovely evening run after a swim today. Actually saw the sun in the first time in weeks. Normally I only get to go before or after work when it is dark, but I was off today, so a daylight run.

10k run/2k swim. 1999k to go

thenewaveragebear1983 · 03/01/2020 18:57

6km today

11/ 989

I am easing in gently after a very low miles month of December. My leg is still not 100% better but is not excessively painful. Bootcamp tomorrow so no run planned til Sunday

MercuryRising · 03/01/2020 20:20

I ran 6km this evening 994 to go 😁

FrangipaniBlue · 03/01/2020 20:34

I did 1,123 miles in 2019 so aiming for 2,000 this year !!

New Years Day Parkrun plus a couple of dog walks and 1.5hrs on the turbo trainer yesterday that DH bought be for Christmas takes me up to 28.5miles so far.

Currently on a couple of rest days as have my first "event" of the year on Sunday - half marathon!

Jumbojem · 03/01/2020 21:07

Good luck for the half @frangipaniblue!
Second run of the year for me today bringing my total to a not very impressive 10k. Parkrun tomorrow before kids football starts back which prevents me going.

10/990.

Accidentalaccountant · 04/01/2020 06:35

Day 3 managed 5 miles 1994 left

TriSkiRun99 · 04/01/2020 10:32

ParkRun sandwich this morning 13k. Tried out new trainers as finally found some that fit! After training multiple ones, ended up in Sacouny mens which have a different profile to my current NB so it will be interesting to see how it affects my foot/calf niggle. Will need to alternate between them I think to start with, plus have some trail shoes coming Monday Grin spent all my Xmas £s on running shoes and new swim cossie.

Running 19km
Swimming 1km
Cycling 30mins turbo approx 9k

FrangipaniBlue · 04/01/2020 12:03

I always go for men's trainers @TriSkiRun99 as I find the toe box in women's too small and I end up with cramp in my toes!

NothingIsWrong · 04/01/2020 12:07

22km of very muddy slippy trails done. Super fun but hard work! 28km done so far this year. I reckon I need 40km/week averages to make my goal, so plan is 6km recovery run tomorrow and 10km on Tuesday means I'm on track for the first week 😬

OhYouBadBadKitten · 04/01/2020 16:20

5 miles today, just gentle bimbling around.

29.5/970.5

OhYouBadBadKitten · 04/01/2020 16:21

Squelch Nothing! Mud like that is so exhausting!

WalkingOutOfFlabbiness · 04/01/2020 16:33

Ok I am in but in a not walked or run anywhere for ages and am a few stone overweight kind of way. I did ten miles yesterday and loved it - scrambling in the Peak District so shall get fitness back and get going. Aiming for 1000m if walking and a bit of rowing too. Once I have lost twenty pounds will do some running.

Accidentalaccountant · 05/01/2020 06:29

Day 4 only 4 miles as lots of chores. So 1990 to go

LeGrandBleu · 05/01/2020 06:56

Oh, this sounds like fun. Count me in!!
Does skiing count? We are going skiing in two days and running in the snow won't be exactly an option without specific shoes! But I could have a cheating start with the skis!

I will go for km and not mile. First it is better to have a modest (call 1000km modest!!) goal and stick to it than a very ambitious one and feel it unachievable.

MercuryRising · 05/01/2020 13:58

Nothing that looks fun! I did 6.5km with my running club this morning so 987.5km to go. I'm still struggling after 3 months of not running but looking forward to when it starts to feel easier again.

Inniu · 05/01/2020 14:04

I started C25K in September and am hoping to keep running so I will try this.
Have done 5k*2 and 7k so far.

17/983

TriSkiRun99 · 05/01/2020 15:24

Cycle ride with the kids today did 9m in total whist hubbie ran alongside youngest getting his long run training in with family time. Flipping grey miserable weather day though and I’m nursing very tight sore calf muscle.

Running 19km
Swimming 1km
Cycling 23k

TriSkiRun99 · 05/01/2020 15:26

LeGrandBleu my DH worn his Garmin watch last time we went skiing and it was interesting to see how far we covered. Enjoy your hols, we are going lateMarch and I can’t wait but hoping snow stays till Easter!

OhYouBadBadKitten · 05/01/2020 18:23

I reckon skiing can count if you want it to!

3 mile run (and quite quick which was a surprise as I thought it would just be a gentle trot) and a 4 mile pub walk for a proper Sunday lunch.

36.5/963.5

OhYouBadBadKitten · 05/01/2020 18:30

When I look back at last January it's no wonder I got injured at the end of that month or so. I really ramped up the miles quickly.

I've got a half in March. I'm aiming to take it much steadier in getting there this time but I'm starting from a much stronger baseline.

FrangipaniBlue · 05/01/2020 19:52

13.1 miles done for me today Grin

NothingIsWrong · 05/01/2020 19:59

@FrangipaniBlue nice medal!

6km recovery run for me after the slippy trails, legs felt much better than I had anticipated which was nice. Bloody hate running in the dark though...

34/1600 done
