After doing this successfully now for 2 years I thought I'd start the 2020 thread

All welcome

@TriSkiRun99 I've been seeing a really good massage lady and she is helping me work through it. It's considerably better than it was (this had been lingering since October) and I have another massage booked in 2weeks so I'm hoping that will help too. It's a find line isn't it between resting it but also keeping some degree of fitness and mobility in it. I have rested it a lot over December (I had 2.5 weeks fully off it)

Evening all.

Strava tells me 24 miles running for the year so far, with 4.2 today battling head wind and more head wind!

Can only get easier, yes?!

MGC31 · 07/01/2020 20:48

3.3k swim today

23.1k done
976.9k to go

Fullyhuman · 07/01/2020 21:55

Oh me! Me! Me! Please. Love this idea. I want to walk/run/swim/row/cycle 2020km this year. Starting slow, recovering from a pelvic injury, just 11km walked so far, but will row a little tomorrow and build up before I know it.

onlyfortonight · 07/01/2020 22:11

Very wet run tonight, but good fun as it was the first night back for the Athletics club I run with. Threshold run to blow out the cobwebs. Everyone else is currently training for a marathon, but I have never run that distance and I feel a little uncertain about entering one. I might just stick to the training!

Virtual cycle 25km and wet 10km run today

1931.5 km to go

FrangipaniBlue · 07/01/2020 22:28

Loving reading everyone's updates Smile

Went for a wet and windy walk at lunchtime (1 mile) and did an hour on the turbo tonight (16 miles) so Strava is telling me I've ran/walked/cycled/swam 65 miles so far this year.

65/2000

Week 1 45 done. 1975 to go

Inniu · 08/01/2020 11:40

I really struggled with my run today almost from the beginning. I am not sure why, maybe the wind.
I am working my way from 5k to 10K using an app and was so glad to hear the one minute left today.
8k run

25k/1975k

MGC31 · 08/01/2020 16:35

3740m Swim today.

26.840 km done
973.16 km to go

Jumbojem · 08/01/2020 19:10

After a reasonable start my knee pain flared up during a hilly run. Resting this week and going to order a support. Seems to be hills are a problem so it's lucky I live somewhere pretty flat!
14 miles so far for so a long way to go!

TriSkiRun99 · 08/01/2020 21:43

Updates from last couple of days. Plan to run next 3 mornings if stiff calf doesn’t re-seize now it’s released again after swimming & cycling.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 09/01/2020 14:57

Horrible 3km on the treadmill today, simply because life's got in the way this week and I've not been put much. Wish I hadn't bothered, I hate the treadmill.

20/ 980

Hoping to do a longer one outdoors tomorrow, my in laws have Ds so I can plan and actually do a decent distance.

I need to keep a tally - I'd assumed the Apple apps would do this automatically but as far as I can see they only give a total for the current week.Hmm

42.7 km so far. (That's what's logged as actual walks, not total distance moved!Grin)

OhYouBadBadKitten · 09/01/2020 19:59

Good news about the calf Tri.

4 mile bike ride yesterday and 3 mile tempo run today. Really enjoyed the run except my spotify thinks it's still Christmas so I got quite cross and shouted at it that I didn't wish it was Christmas every day. Blush

48.5/951.5 run/walk
8/492 cycle

onlyfortonight · 09/01/2020 21:31

I’ve had to take a bit of a reduction in intensity over the last few days. I get recurrent pericarditis and I had an awful night on Tuesday with chest pain after two reasonably intense sessions that day.

Getting better now...so I’ve just done a walk yesterday and a slow and steady run this evening. Chest is comfortable so hopefully I can get back to it soon. Very frustrating.

Walk 7km
Slow run 8km
1916.5 km to go

Accidentalaccountant · 09/01/2020 22:13

6 today. 1964 left.

Inniu · 10/01/2020 11:16

9k today. Much more my type of weather 4 degrees and bright.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 10/01/2020 13:08

Rather gruelling 8km today

28/ 972

I am definitely suffering from such a substantial drop in both pace and distance in December, I feel like I'm starting from scratch all over again. It's amazing really that 3 weeks could make so much difference

TriSkiRun99 · 10/01/2020 13:24

Be kind to yourself bear your base fitness is still there it should bounce back within a couple of weeks.

First outting for my new trail shoes at lunchtime today Smile really enjoyed it even if did I did get rather muddy but the shoes performed well even on concrete road as well. Hope to do lots more now I’m getting the off road bug.

Running 29.5km
Swimming 2.5k
Cycling 30k

thenewaveragebear1983 · 10/01/2020 14:30

What are they @TriSkiRun99 I've been thinking of getting some to do some trail running (partly to avoid the hard tarmac running) and also to wear to bootcamp, but up till now just use my retired runners

OP posts:
ErrolTheDragon · 10/01/2020 16:57

5.6 today - more of an amble as with DH who has hurt a tendon.

48.3/(1)951.7

(I've not decided on my goal yet...)

TriSkiRun99 · 10/01/2020 18:55

If you have a big sports direct near you bear I’d go in and try some. I ruled out quite few like that it’s interesting my DH runs in ascic trail shoes but I hated all those ones as they felt very flat and low support, but responsive if you need that. I opted for men’s Salomon BondCliff 2 which had a shaped insert as I like some support plus at £55 were a better price to try out Trail running. They worked brill today on a very wet n muddy track not sliding too much.

Accidentalaccountant · 11/01/2020 06:13

Yesterday 9 so 1955 left
