All welcome

Well done @FrangipaniBlue nice early half!

I did a FTP fitness test in the turbo...bloody hard work but at least I have a benchmark now.

Virtual 25km cycling
1974 k to go

OhYouBadBadKitten · 05/01/2020 22:19

Well done Frangi!

FrangipaniBlue · 05/01/2020 22:42

Thanks all Smile

Accidentalaccountant · 06/01/2020 06:13

Nice one frang. Down to 1982

TriSkiRun99 · 06/01/2020 11:04

Nice medal frangi.

Calf proving rather sore and stiff but icing it is helping. Did 30mins pedalling on turbo to ease it off abit this morning. Monday is usually a long run day but only one child back at school today, the other goes back tom so we off for a swim instead.

onlyfortonight · 06/01/2020 14:40

A slow run with my friend this morning.

Run 7.5km
1966.5 to go

thenewaveragebear1983 · 06/01/2020 18:26

It's definitely a slow start for me this year, I had terrible DOMS after bootcamp on Saturday so didn't head out today. On the plus side though, my ongoing hamstring injury seems a LOT better these last few days. Will try a short trot out tomorrow!

Running 2000 km in a year is pretty hard core. I ran 700 km last year - I don't see a 200% increase happening! OTOH, with walking included I was close to 3000 km. I think I need a target somewhere in the middle!

Brimful · 06/01/2020 19:06

Hi all! This is really inspiring, I'll definitely try to run 1000km (miles is too ambitious!) for 2020 :)

20km done
980km to go

sanmiguel · 06/01/2020 19:34

Hello everyone. I've just seen this thread so I'll join you. I'm in for 1000 miles of running. I've got a half booked for 1st March and a marathon in April and generally run 15-20 miles a week but this will be 30 ish a week plus through to April.

This year I finished on about 800 miles but was low on races due to an injury, so hoping for more this year. I clocked in a 10 k race, a 10 mile race and a half in 2019. I do park run about once a month when it fits out schedule!

Best of luck everyone!

WalkingOutOfFlabbiness · 06/01/2020 21:12

Ace media Frangipani

I feel like the fat plodder hanging out with the Lycra lovelies😂 I have literally taken no steps to address this but am yogaing and building up to stuff. Have to sort out my core before I run it my back goes... weight loss and core strength and a whole year to hit my target ... I def need to be in kms not mikes though!! One 13 mile walk and just 987km to go🙄

WalkingOutOfFlabbiness · 06/01/2020 21:12

Medal not media!!

amysaurus87 · 06/01/2020 21:36

Ahh it's so lovely theres so many of us this year! As @thenewaveragebear1983 said up thread there were only 3 of us left at the end of last year! Hopefully we can all motivate each other to achieve our goals for 2020!

Been a slow start to the year as yet another sick bug has hit the house...with my little boy leading the way!

16.86 miles of walking done this week (1st - 5th Jan)

16.86/1983.14

I'm back at work now so I should be able to start doing some good mile counts!

SpringFan · 06/01/2020 22:19

Decided this was beyond me as I knackered my knees running in poor trainers about 35 years ago but I am planning to walk a minimum of 1 mile per day this year. Round here we have few pavements or streetlights so it is all on public footpaths and bridleways and so far I am doing 1.5-2 miles. Did about 3.5-4 miles today as I had a problem with my Strava app. ( didn't start it but definately did 2.8 miles!) and got a bit lost due to a dodgy signpost.
I might make 1000km if I include my gym bike and cross trainer sessions. Does that count?

WalkingOutOfFlabbiness · 07/01/2020 00:10

I reckon it all counts 👍👍

ErrolTheDragon · 07/01/2020 00:52

DH got me an Apple Watch for my birthday which is conveniently Jan 1st so I've got 30 km of walks logged so far. I'm hoping some of it will gradually evolve into runs.

MGC31 · 07/01/2020 01:55

I’ve only swum so far. I don’t have very good land legs but I might venture out and do some walking at some point. Maybe.

19.8km done
980.2 km to go

ErrolTheDragon · 07/01/2020 08:29

I wouldn't say 'only' swum, most of us would find it a lot harder to rack up swimming distance than walking or running!

NothingIsWrong · 07/01/2020 12:16

11km done, slow with 5x250m sprint intervals. First time I've ever done sprints. I didn't vomit, but I won't say it wasn't a close thing...

Aim is to work up to 11km with 7x500m sprints over the next few months.

45/1600 done

Next run - hoping for a 10km threshold run (which for me should be about 55min) on Thursday. Just got to find some time for it!

OhYouBadBadKitten · 07/01/2020 12:54

I've done a 6 mile run today and a 4 mile bike ride, 3 mile walk yesterday.

45.5/945.5 walk/run
4/496 cycle

OhYouBadBadKitten · 07/01/2020 12:56

Swimming that distance is much more of a challenge both in commitment and effort.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 07/01/2020 14:13

6km today
17/983

Leg not hurting as such but heavy/dull ache after about 3.5k

OP posts:
MercuryRising · 07/01/2020 14:51

My friend has set up a walking group so I went out with them today and did a 3.5km walk so 16km so far 984km to go.

TriSkiRun99 · 07/01/2020 15:44

bear that doesn’t sound good, have you taken some advice around Biomechanics & how you run? There maybe a weakness somewhere that’s then causing the muscle issue. I’m aware I have a distinct weakness in my left hip and I’ve been working on strength training and yoga to support it as that is causing knock on effects to my foot / calf etc. I’m lucky my sports massage lady looks at the how whole body moves to try see why certain issues flare up plus I did a one off session with a physio but I could have easily diagnosed myself given my history. As you run a lot and rest hasn’t eased it? Hope you can find a resolution, it’s frustrating when the mind is willingly but the body is aching! I’ve not run since Saturday hoping to get out tonight or tom.

TriSkiRun99 · 07/01/2020 15:46

I’ve been reading This Mum Runs by Jo Pavey it’s amazing how many injuries she had and what she then went on to achieve, gives me hope!
