Run Every Day January 2019 MIND

Just wondering who’s doing this? As a Parkrunner who’s been out of the game past 6 weeks with a trio of colds and morning sickness (cheers bump) I’m using this to get back on it.

Listening to a Podcast about it yesterday MIND are steering away from promoting running every day and instead being active every day.

My goal is to hit a modest 40min 6K by the end of the month.

As I have a 36minute 5K time I think this is a stretch goal without setting myself up for total failure.

Anyone else doing it? X

3k tues
1k wed
2x 1k fast today

I definitely think doing even just a little bit each day is having a positive impact.

IRun4Me · 24/01/2019 20:40

Today was my first day when I really didn’t want to do it. But I made myself and once out it was fine and I enjoyed it.
But I’ve had a few rubbish nights sleep and am feeling exhausted.

AuntieStella · 24/01/2019 20:43

I've still got an unbroken streak! Most of the runs this week were little trots round the park. But one was a proper club hill training session. Ouch!

IRun4Me - I wonder if it's the weather? I was tired/unmotivated today too (though fine once I'd dragged myself out of the door and started moving). I'm heading off for an early night soon

Mymadworld · 24/01/2019 21:50

A tough 5km last night I too was suffering wit fatigue/lack of enthusiasm but better today and managed another 5km and had a good stretch out at my Pilates class afterwards. Aiming for a long one tomorrow if the ice holds off & I get an early night...

TriSkiRun99 · 25/01/2019 09:32

Slug run this morning after school drop off dragged my weary legs of lead around a 5k before work. It was warm and felt like lack of oxygen in the air?! After Wednesdays fastest 5miler this felt horrid but ✅ I’m done for today Smile

IRun4Me · 26/01/2019 18:08

I’m still on track and hopefully got over my blip. I think the weather and darkness doesn’t help. Trying to fit in more shorter runs means I’m quite constrained to where I run so it can get a bit samey.
Went this morning and really enjoyed it once I got going, though first run in ages where I got really warm and had to take layers off.
Got my January total up to 86 miles. Don’t want to get too excited about potentially making 100 so going to focus on getting to 90 then see Wink

FATEdestiny · 26/01/2019 18:59

25km long run today takes my monthly distance to 300km.

Now aiming for 200 miles, 322km.

Wow fate your a running machine!

ParkRun +1km today with my youngest DD so it was a bit walk/run but she did it even with a bit of headwind on the rtn leg. I’m aiming for 100km this month which after a week of virus I’ll be really pleased to hit. At 85km so far.

AuntieStella · 26/01/2019 22:27

I love the term 'slug run' (hadn't heard it before, so many thanks to TriSkiRun for that!)

I did a part sandwich Parkrun today (ran there but cadged a lift back).

BrassicaBabe · 27/01/2019 08:13

Wow fate running machine indeed!!

My distances are a country mile from those, that said I think I'm heading for most ever Km in a month! It should be just over 80km/50 miles!

I'm going to try to increase my "rest day" 1km to 1mile.

I did a wine accompanied treadmill 1k on Friday. 5k yesterday. Today was supposed to be a row plus a short run but I'm sat outside the rowing club at the moment on my own almighty have to rethink that Hmm

AuntieStella · 27/01/2019 11:15

Another day ticked off, and my 100 mile target reached. A good way to start a Sunday

IRun4Me · 27/01/2019 11:29

Amazing distance fate well done.
Well done AuntieStella I’m not quite there but only a few miles behind you. I didn’t set out to get to 100 miles but it now feels achievable.
4 days to go. We are on the home straight everyone Grin

Mymadworld · 27/01/2019 12:42

I'm up to 121 km so well past my 100km target. I'm not running today 3 big (for me Smile) runs Thursday, Friday Saturday my legs need a rest plus I've had a long walk. I've realised going forwards that actually I can run 6 consecutive days quite happily but Sunday just doesn't work with football, rugby & cricket activities so will make this my rest day and keep up the others.
Some amazing distances on here well done everyone Grin

stayingaliveisawayoflife · 27/01/2019 13:07

I have struggled as I had a stomach bug for four days (I have Crohn's disease). My class have now shared their cold germs so I am fighting though that too. Just hoping to get a walk in today then back to running tomorrow. I have passed the 60 mile mark though which I am pleased with.

BrassicaBabe · 28/01/2019 11:51

We're nearly there! I did 5k this morning. Felt tired though so it was a run with some walking. Felt a bit disheartened. But then mulled over my stats and my run was only 34 seconds slower than a 5k run earlier in the month so overall I think I'm getting faster Smile

Today's run also puts me over 80km/50 miles. So I'm happy with that!

TriSkiRun99 · 28/01/2019 13:16

Short swim with DD yesterday for my exercise as weather too brrr n windy for much outside. Long run day today 12.5k but I cut that short from my planned 16k as the head wind was horrid and cold, and my legs were struggling with heavyness for a lot of it.
I’m think of printing out another colour in running lady for February to put on my fridge as the motivation to exercise every day has given me bit more focus, & my kids like asking what I’ve done that day & what colour is she going to be today Smile January is mostly rainbow stripy colours except for 3 grey days when I was ill. I’m still going to get in over 100k running which I’m really pleased about.

IRun4Me · 28/01/2019 19:05

Day 28 done but nearly not!! I feel really under the weather and stomach cramps. Haven’t eaten hardly anything. But I’ve come to far to fail. I took the dog out for a very slow jog for just over a mile. Didn’t feel too bad doing it but felt rubbish when I got back.
When does it count as an obsession BlushGrin

TriSkiRun99 · 29/01/2019 21:21

Walk today totaled 45mins before rain lashed down on/off most of the day. Hope to run Wednesday if no snow.

Mymadworld · 29/01/2019 22:33

Very short 3km run but I did manage some sprints in the middle so not totally pointless Halo

BrassicaBabe · 30/01/2019 12:56

Second attempt today at a road run aborted. No snow here but the roads are still scarily icy. That leaves me with the treadmill Sad I hate the treadmill. Such a shame, it's a beautiful day

TriSkiRun99 · 30/01/2019 14:37

Timed my lunch run accidentally really well as the showers stopped and sun came out it was cold as expected but dry. Got nearly 6km done. First time I’ve run in 3layers though and I needed it!

AuntieStella · 30/01/2019 16:14

I'm still on track.

But have a bugger of a day tomorrow and really don't know how I'll fit in a run. Worried about ice if I get up early, but I think that might be the best plan

IRun4Me · 30/01/2019 17:35

Penultimate day done and hit the 100 miles for the month mark.
Can you run a couple of times around the garden/office/swimming pool/playground/kitchen AuntieStella Grin

Mymadworld · 30/01/2019 20:53

I nearly fell over walking the school run today and my car won't get up the road so didn't fancy risking it with a run so will add on an extra day to make up for it Sad

AuntieStella · 31/01/2019 06:13

Done it!!!!!!!!

A good way to start the day!
