Run Every Day January 2019 MIND

Just wondering who’s doing this? As a Parkrunner who’s been out of the game past 6 weeks with a trio of colds and morning sickness (cheers bump) I’m using this to get back on it.

Listening to a Podcast about it yesterday MIND are steering away from promoting running every day and instead being active every day.

My goal is to hit a modest 40min 6K by the end of the month.

As I have a 36minute 5K time I think this is a stretch goal without setting myself up for total failure.

Anyone else doing it? X

Hahaha! Blueberries! That'll do it! We're a week into potty training, so unfortunately there were no nappies involved Shock

I managed to get myself out to do 5.5k. I'm happy with that!

BrassicaBabe · 11/01/2019 07:17

Sorry to hear of all of the poo disasters!

I've had a cold Br still managed 1k each day. 5k last night. It was ok. Hope for time/weather to do another 5k tonight

Verbena87 · 11/01/2019 07:24

Good work on the running both!

Can’t say I am hugely excited about potty training: hoping him being ready coincides with summer so we can just live in the garden in no trousers for a while!

IRun4Me · 11/01/2019 19:36

Yay Smile Day 11 ticked off.
Good luck with the potty training Domestic I remember those days.
Verbena Can I join you on your Lake District run Grin

GroggyLegs · 11/01/2019 20:35

Missed yesterday as face was like a lopsided hamster and I slept very badly, but back on it today with an easy 2.1 miles.

Verbena my fantasy run is a loop around Croyde and up onto Baggy Point, followed by a cream tea. Heaven!

DomesticAnarchist I have a nearly 3yo who will NOT be potty trained, despite all the bribes motivational star charts, rewards, toys or chocolate buttons in the world. If you have any top tips, please do pass them on....

RED miles 24.2

BrassicaBabe · 11/01/2019 22:37

No 5k for me today. Literally didn't stop until 940 tonight. So jumped on the treadmill in my civvies (no sports bra!) and did a steady 1k to tick the box. Need to get out for a bit longer tomorrowHmm

Verbena87 · 12/01/2019 08:58

IRun4Me and groggylegs all welcome on fantasy Lakes run - cream tea sounds like an excellent recovery food!

Yoga again for the last 2 days as I’m feeling pretty burnt out from early mornings, long work days, and a 1-year-old who seems to have decided nocturnal cluster-feeding is a thing again Hmm - might get out today; will see how revived I feel by coffee and porridge.

DomesticAnarchist · 12/01/2019 09:23

Well down @IRun4Me! Any potty training tips would be gratefully received!

Hope you slept better after your run, @GroggyLegs. No tips from me! I can't remember doing it with DC1 and we're struggling with the 💩 this time. He's all good for wee as long as we just put him on the potty every hour, and is getting better at nursery where he's having to be more responsible for himself. So it could be worse! I'm sure it was the other way round for DC1.

Well done, @BrassicaBabe, that's still brilliant that you fitted that in!

Ooh, @Verbena87, that's tough. Do the yoga and be kind to yourself.

I was totally exhausted yesterday. Found it really hard just to get the kids fed and into bed. Somehow found the motivation to do a little (and very slow) 3k walk/run and came back feeling so much better for it.

I am still amazed that going for a run makes me less tired and more energetic than not. (Only in the evenings, it wipes me out in the mornings!) 🤯

SkiMum99 · 12/01/2019 10:10

Family ParkRun done Smile yah! After a week sat mostly on the sofa with yucky virus it was good to get back outside doing something again.

CalmConfident · 12/01/2019 10:12

Oooo...bushy, jealous! Parkrun done here too. Thought I would just walk as still being gentle with my dodgy back but I ran all the way. Better get done stretching done.

Well done to everyone here - really encouraging to hear the news Smile

AuntieStella · 12/01/2019 10:45

12/31 done - Parkrun sandwich

Mymadworld · 12/01/2019 11:13

Parkrun done feeling really great with all 12 days ticked off. Some days it's just a short run and yoga but running nonetheless

SandunesAndRainclouds · 12/01/2019 11:56

parkrun sandwich done, 8 miles in total. Really happy with that.

PaulHollywoodsSexGut · 12/01/2019 13:09

Am I being thick here: what’s a Parkrun Sandwich?

OP posts:
SandunesAndRainclouds · 12/01/2019 14:08

Run to parkrun, do parkrun, run after parkrun

BrassicaBabe · 12/01/2019 15:41

5k done! Rowing tomorrow so just a short 1k treadmill jaunt for me I think

SkiMum99 · 12/01/2019 16:03

Love that idea - ParkRun sandwich - not heard that term before. Does running from the carpark (as we were late) to the start count Grin we drove there as DD7 wanted to run.

Mymadworld · 12/01/2019 16:21

@SandunesAndRainclouds I thought you meant parkrun in the place called Sandwich Grin

Verbena87 · 12/01/2019 16:49

Well done parkrunners (of the sandwich and non-sandwich variety! Some impressive mileages around today Grin)!

I’ve been out for a very steady 3 miles (blaming the strong headwind but it’s probably the 6 days of no running) and am now stuffing chocolate brownie into my face (also very god for mental health).

SandunesAndRainclouds · 12/01/2019 17:09

Haha no, not in the place Sandwich. That would be cool though, obligatory sarnies at the end!

I’ve finally got my backside in gear and sorted marathon training plan. I’ve been hiding in blissful denial that this is happening but it’s getting too close now. Must get miles in my legs!

Verbena87 · 12/01/2019 17:25

sanddunes when’s your marathon? I’ve got my eye on a 20 miler in September (but off-road with about 600metres of ascent some of which is 1in6 gradient Shock) but dunno if it’s feasible really.

Mymadworld · 12/01/2019 18:49

@Verbena87 20 miles in September is easily doable from a time/training POV or is it fitting in the training you're concerned about?
I'm trying to find a half marathon in March possibly into April before I reduce my running for a few months and up my cycling. I LOVE cycling in the summer but can't bear it in winter: cold, wet, the risks in ice not to mention finding enough daylight hours so now just don't bother even trying and run through the winter. Anyone else a fair-weathered cyclist?

Verbena87 · 12/01/2019 21:28

@mymadworld fitting in the training (realistically I get 2 half hour runs in the week if I’m lucky, and a longer one at weekends) and also because my furthest run so far since motherhood was last weekend’s 7 miler so I’m still way off mileage wise, don’t have tons of miles in my legs (9 months off for pregnancy then a year post-partum trying to rehab my pelvic floor, so really I am sort of a beginner again: been regularly running about 4 months).

Also I suspect there’ll be a distance where all the kegels in the world plus the ring pessary (basically pelvic organ underwiring that jams my bladder and womb up while I run) won’t stand up to the stress of running and my prolapse will get really symptomatic again - haven’t hit it yet but given the official advice for pelvic organ prolapse seems to be ‘sit on the sofa a lot, maybe a bit of sedate walking, and don’t do anything fun like run, lift heavy things or stuff your face with cake and gain weight’ I suspect 20 hilly miles might be a bit much.

Don’t think it opens for entries til April so maybe I’ll just see where I’m at then.

Verbena87 · 12/01/2019 21:30

(I’m a terrible cyclist but my husband loves it. We bought a turbo trainer so when it’s wet/cold/dark we can do some cross-training inside. It is so boring that what actually happens is he cycles and I run in the wet/cold/dark and leave it unused under the stairs! Blush)
