The newsest thread for all runners to chat and keep track of their miles. Everyone welcome for support, guidance and general running talk including very important kit choices Wink

Steady run in yesterday's sunshine

Marathon training can be hard, especially when you do it all alone. I've always been lucky to do it with a friend and the club, but even so the intensity can be difficult. But it will be worth it! I'm really Envy today as I have a lot of friends doing the Barcelona marathon tomorrow which was the last one I did in 2016, and I loved it.
29 miles to add from this week, all easy because of the trail race last weekend (which was over 500m ascent Keyser, nothing to you but a lot for us runners in flat Brittany!) and tonight I have a 10km to do for a relay race with the club. Don't want to let the rest of the team down!

Ha ha- yep, we love us some hills. Good luck with the relay.

25k/+900m trail race today which actually measured at 23.5k. Came in 2nd (again) but was lucky to get that after the most epic pacing fail which saw me get the Strava CR for the first 6k (yay me but not ideal with another 18k to go). Died slightly between 8-16k. Had 3rd place girl on my ass from 18k but managed to hold her off by being reckless on the descents. Very very happy to see the finish arch appear.

I hope to do a marathon one day Confused

Quick recovery run to my friend's house ( DH drove the DC) where I sat about 'drinking lots of rosé in my active wear' while the DC played.

Afternoon run in the sun - love the mild temperatures Smile

Inverness half marathon today, went really well. Got chatting to someone at mile 6 and we chatted the rest of the way round, which was great. Massive PB by 8 minutes, super chuffed, especially as it crashed down with rain for quite a while!

cinnamongreyhound · 12/03/2017 20:46

Well done on your 2nd cantseethewoods!

Brilliant emummy!!!! What a fabulous pb and nice to have someone to keep you company!

I took all the dogs out today, new doggy is a little undisciplined Grin she runs from side to side huddling the others out of her way! I let her off in the end (feeling brave as this is only her 8th with us) and she was a dream, didn't go to far ahead, always checking we were there and stopped as soon as I called her name! Will keep working on the canicross though as she's got a good pull when she does focus! 182.6

Congrats on your PB for the HM emummy especially if you were able to chat all the way around - you would be even faster if you weren't chatting!
13 to add from the weekend including the relay race. I did my worst 10k time ever 49mn but it was night and I had run 10 miles the previous day which was rather stupid. Our girls team only came 4th out of 7 but we had great fun which is what it is all about!

emummy · 13/03/2017 08:12

I know Anglaise that's what I thought! I was astonished that I could talk while running at that pace. But I also think it distracted me; when I met her I was feeling a bit tired and I think I might have slowed down a bit but she kept me going and I didn't want to hold her back. So who knows!

cinnamongreyhound · 14/03/2017 08:18

Canicross run last night and new doggy had much more focus with all the others, she ran brilliantly! 199 including Angalise1's 13 too Smile

That's great cinnamon, sounds like she's settling in well.
Nice easy run this morning in shiny new shoes! Very comfortable so will look after them well, they will be my shoes for London. And I ran in my shorts! Spring has arrived, although looking at the forecast it might not be staying!

Just adding 15 from today which seems a lot more than it felt like - did a longish trail run by myself this morning but then my friend wanted to go out tonight so kept her company for a quick 5 miler.

Lovely Tuesday evening run with someone I haven't seen in a while and 2 of our regulars. New doggy likes to pull but not in front more side to side Hmm

Mixed pace run on the hilly forest tracks. A tropical 12 degrees so shorts & t short time and I still felt warm. Hope London will not be too hot!

ThursdayLastWeek · 16/03/2017 14:43

Hello! I'm so pants at keeping up with MN but I miss you all.
DS2 is now a year old and mostly sleeps so I feel slightly more human and my distances and increasing and my parkrun times finally decreasing (slowly!)

I hope you're all well!

Love those snowy pics up thread - don't see that in Cornwall!

stilllearnin · 16/03/2017 21:08

Oooo Thursday I am looking for a Cornwall race...maybe 10 miles and anytime after May really. I'll be in the st Ives area...any local info?

Just another 2.7 today, but honestly I had to force myself so I am happy really.

229.1

ThursdayLastWeek · 16/03/2017 21:23

I'm doing the 10 mile version of this coast path run but it's in may and nowhere near St Ives Grin

There's a summer coastal run too, but also not near St Ives sorry! I'm a bit further north and have been off the circuit (as if I was ever on it much!) for the past 12mo or so.

Well done on getting out, those ones are the hardest.

emummy · 17/03/2017 10:47

Tempo run this morning, really took some willpower as feeling quite tired.

It's a long time since I updated, partly because I had a long time off whilst I healed up (I'm over 50, so these things seem to take so much more time.

But I started running again gently at the start of this month, and so far so good.

16.18 to add, 258.58

Which includes my first ever Parkrun

cinnamongreyhound · 18/03/2017 14:02

Yay for parkrun's AuntieStella!

parkrun to add for me 261.68

Tell me about it cinnamon Shock hopefully now he's sleeping a bit more ^^ I'll be able to get on it again. I've felt like a bit of a zombie.

Adding this mornings parkrun - comfortable even in the drizzle. ^^
