The newsest thread for all runners to chat and keep track of their miles. Everyone welcome for support, guidance and general running talk including very important kit choices Wink

ThursdayLastWeek · 19/03/2017 09:27

How old is your baby now BlackCat? And how did the buggy run go?
I run to get away from my children Wink

emummy · 19/03/2017 12:22

20 miles. Nearly wept with relief when I stopped. Lovely chafed patch on my back from my pack running so Vaseline for there next week! Not sure if I should also replace my shorts. Now going to eat all the food.

Thank you Thursday - I'll give it some thought. Fantastic mileage emummy. Is that your furthest?

I'm struggling massively on new meds so really pacing myself, the main aim to get out twice a week. I am so tired! So just 2.5 from me.

thursday he is four months - running with him is sometimes my only way of getting out - my second ever buggy run today, it was windy out there!

ThursdayLastWeek · 20/03/2017 06:44

emummy is it safe to assume you're marathoning soon? 20 miles Shock good effort!

I'm very lucky to have a DH who works from home and who understands my parkrun obsession BlackCat otherwise I would have had to buggy run too. Well done for getting out there with such a littley.

Going to attempt some sort of HIIT workout today, I'm getting a bit sad about my plateauing parkrun times and think I need to get sone oomph back in me.

emummy · 20/03/2017 12:25

Good guess Thursday! Got London in 5 weeks. Feeling a bit down today, 20 miles was hard, I'm tired, and the thought of doing it again next week then 22 the week after is not good! Never mind, will keep plodding on.

cinnamongreyhound · 20/03/2017 14:05

It'll be worth it in the end emummy!!

Lovely run yesterday, the sun almost came out! 314

Mixed pace run this morning, went ok but a bit slow. Have decided to skip the next speed session this week to be a bit less tired for the long run.

Good work emummy and welcome back thursday and auntiestella

I ended up DNS my race on Sunday- they delayed the start by at least an hour due to a thunderstorm and that meant I would have been really tight on time to get home in time for DH to get a flight, esp as race was in the middle of nowhere. Kind of irrationally feel like I should have done it though.

19.5 to add from 3 other runs

ThursdayLastWeek · 22/03/2017 07:17

Oh that sounds really annoying cantsee. Can people not run in thunderstorms?? Hmm

I'm excited because I get rid of both my children until after lunch which means it's long run day for me today. Although, a long run for me is approx 7 miles currently so not mega but it will take me ages, and I'll be alone in the countryside and it'll be lovely.

Cantseethewoods · 22/03/2017 09:07

It's a condition of the permit. Cannot start if the thunderstorm warning is up as in places the participants will be the tallest thing on the mountain. People do get struck by lightening here so it's fair enough.

Enjoy your long run.

ThursdayLastWeek · 22/03/2017 16:46

Fair enough! I figured there must be a reason - out of curiosity would they be able to do anything if the storm had come on after the race had begun?

I managed 7.6 miles today. I wasn't fast but it certainly felt more pleasant than long runs I've done in the last year or so. My legs felt strong, and my head felt stronger.

I've discovered my favourite trainers are no longer available though. Boo progress.

You could have a look on Sportsshoes.com Thursday, they often sell previous years' models of shoes. It is very annoying when you can't get your favourites!

MyBlackCat · 22/03/2017 20:10

A short buggy run this morning before the rain set in. Well done on your long thursday Smile

That sucks cantseethewoods!

Sounds lovely ThursdayLastWeek!

Annoying people letting me down Tuesday evening and a really crappy day so I decided to go weds morning on my own instead. Also so big dog could go as he was in the vets for a dental weds and ended up having 15 teeth removed so he didn't even get up this morning let alone run with us. 358.5

Blimey 15 teeth?! Poor Cinnadog!
I took ThursDog in recently and felt a bit emotional leaving him to his general anaesthetic. Must be my age catching up with me - he's not even that old!

I hope things are ok with DSS? Or at least you're feeling a bit happier.

And we'll done on your buggy run Black I really do admire you and other buggy runners.

cinnamongreyhound · 23/03/2017 22:29

Thanks for asking ThursdayLastWeek, we haven't seen or spoken to him since the last weekend in January. Still not replying to any messages we sent, won't talk on the phone and his mum won't push him to see or talk to us. Very very sad Sad

Oh I'm sorry Sad

Doubt I'll get out today, would love to though even in this wind.

emummy · 24/03/2017 18:27

Relaxing ready run today, braced for second 20 miler on Sunday. Head in a much better place after an easier week and an excruciating sports massage on Wednesday!

Hope your dog is feeling better cinnamon, does he have any teeth left?!
