Need to shift my winter flab and tone up so I'm going to do the 30 day shred starting tomorrow. I will carry on running 3 x per week as usual and I will be drinking no booze for the 30 days but otherwise eating normally. I'll weigh and measure my waist in the morning and use this thread as my diary to help me stay motivated- feel free to join in if you fancy Smile

I am 38 and was fairly fit already but DH has done this with me and he is 48 and not used to exercise - it has been perfect for him as he doesn't have much time and has a desk job. Do it sweetpea! If you can stick to it you could really bump start your fitness and feel great for summer Smile

Smilethank you! I know I'll feel pleased when I've done it, it's the getting started that's so hard!

Lozzapops · 16/03/2016 21:07

Welcome Sweetpea! Really do recommend doing this, getting started is so tough, 30 days seems so daunting, and you don't imagine you'll ever be able to do it. I am a little younger than you (30), but so terribly unfit, I didn't think I would ever be at the point I am now, but here I am with just 3 more workouts til the end! Seriously, if I can do it, anyone can. The good thing is that the moves are modified for beginners if needs be, and you can ramp it up a notch if you fancy, or stick with the beginners move - and no one will judge you for that!

Faux, am looking forward to hearing about your measurements and weight tomorrow! Hoping you have some good results. Really wishing I had taken measurements at the start now. Am feeling very apprehensive about my final weigh in, as I have a feeling I will be a bit disappointed. Although I can see I have toned up a bit, I just have this sense that I've not worked hard enough, not eaten well enough, etc, to get results I'll be really happy with. I know that is a bit silly really, cos ultimately the numbers shouldn't matter so long as I am looking/feeling better, but still! We'll see. I have no scales, so won't be able to weigh until Monday when I can borrow my mum's again!

LumpySpacedPrincess · 16/03/2016 21:07

Day 10, double figures! Well done everyone, keep up the good work!

AtticusFlinch · 16/03/2016 22:33

Day 8 done, Level 2 tomorrow! Am slightly dreading it. I'm 19 years old but extremely unfit - I feel like even though I've only been doing it for over a week, my stamina is getting a lot better and I'm stronger. As long as you pace yourself, I think it's a great kickstart to getting fitter.

FauxFox · 17/03/2016 07:46

Results at the end of level 1:
10st 3 (4lb lost)
Waist 27" (2" off)
I can't remember exactly where I decided my hips are but I think I have an inch off there too.
Really pleased Grin

Bring on level 2 - will be tackling it this evening...

Congrats, Faux! It's nice to know that all that hard effort and sweat is paying off Smile

Did Day 1 of Level 2 today. Oh my god! I absolutely cannot do planks because I can't hold my weight just on my arms for long, so this level was...interesting. Ended up having to substitute some of the exercises from Level 1, but hopefully I'll be able to build it up over the next week Wink

LumpySpacedPrincess · 17/03/2016 19:09

Well done Faux, result!

I didn't measure but my clothes feel great on and I don't look hideous in a swim suit!

I did the 30 minutes youtube one again today as it yields the best results for me and has the best stomach exercises. I have been level 3 shredding too so I am shredding in spirit, if not in actions.

AtticusFlinch · 17/03/2016 20:24

I'm tempted to try that one Lumpy, as I think I'd get a better workout rather than struggling with the planks and kicks in my tiny room. Grin Maybe I'll substitute it for tomorrow's Shred.

FauxFox · 17/03/2016 20:38

Level 2 day 1 done.

Well that was harder. Worst thing high knee running, fav thing twisty jumping Grin

I ate a load of crap today and didn't have a proper lunch so I will plan better tomorrow.

Congrats Faux, those are excellent results from just 10 days! Well done, the hard work is paying off.

2 more days to go for me, then I can sack Jillian off and venture over to the Davina-side for a couple of weeks! I'm sure I'll return to Jillian, she has a certain way of motivating even the most unmotivated, I find!

Be warned, level 3 is plank, plank and more plank. Ugh.

I am on an allocated rest day from my squat challenge. I have realised there isn't a chance in hell I'm going to actually be able to complete it! Yesterday was day 12, and that was 110 squats. I managed it, sat down for a rest, stood back up and promptly jelly-legged back down again. By the end it is supposed to be 250 squats! Hah! Sod that. I will instead do as many as I can each day, minimum 100 so I feel like I'm at least achieving something. It is really doing wonders for my thighs!

FauxFox · 18/03/2016 10:13

Day 2 level 2 done. Agree atticus that the shoulders/arms take a beating on those plank things - ouchy!

lozza that squat challenge sounds insane! Shock

Food today is banana porridge, hummus on toast, picnic tea (cold meats quiche etc)

OP posts:
LumpySpacedPrincess · 18/03/2016 18:12

Go for it Atticus, it's ace! I've just completed this one which was a good all over workout.

FauxFox · 19/03/2016 13:16

Day 3 level 2 done. It hurts. Grin

OP posts:
FauxFox · 20/03/2016 10:24

Been for a run...am going to shred this eve so I can have all night to recover - I nearly died trying to climb stairs in town after yesterday's! Jillian is so mean!

OP posts:
Lozzapops · 20/03/2016 12:34

Faux, to quote Jillian - "pain is just fear leaving the body"! Keep it up, well done!

I finished the shred yesterday, aaaahhhh!!! Felt so good! Am having a break today, and then next week will start doing some of Davina 7 minutes fit, 4 times a week. Will aim to do 20-25 mins each time

Haven't weighed myself yet, but will do tomorrow morning and report back. Hoping for a decent result!

FauxFox · 20/03/2016 17:15

Well done lozza - I bow down to your 30 days of shred!

My thoughts for after the 30 days was that I would do each level once per week + my standard running...unless I never want to see Jillian's evil face again Grin

OP posts:
LumpySpacedPrincess · 20/03/2016 18:16

Soooooo unmotivated today.

I did

15 minutes full body, better than nowt for the time squished.

LumpySpacedPrincess · 20/03/2016 18:17

Well done Lozza!

Lozzapops · 20/03/2016 19:11

Thanks all! Faux your post-shred plan sounds good!!

So I have weighed myself. I was 11st 2lb, had a week of good eating but no exercise, then did the shred alongside better eating (although have continued to have our usual dinners, which I wouldn't say are strict at all, and has included at least 3 takeaways!) End weight 10st 6lb, so total loss of 10lb! Am feeling very pleased. Would like to lose about another 7lb, but feel this is a great step in the right direction! Good luck all!

FauxFox · 20/03/2016 19:30

That's fab lozza bet you can see a real difference!

Did day 4 level 2 - still hard but not as hard as yesterday so progress is being made!

OP posts:
AtticusFlinch · 21/03/2016 10:38

Disappeared for a bit because I lost all motivation - workout done for today though, so trying to get my head back in the game. Congrats with your amazing results, Lozza!

LumpySpacedPrincess · 21/03/2016 17:57

Done

AtticusFlinch · 21/03/2016 19:32

I tried that first 30 minute workout you posted, Lumpy, and really liked it! The repetitions of lots of little movements reminded me of the Ballet Beautiful series.

LumpySpacedPrincess · 22/03/2016 07:52

I confess I am doing that one most days, it is making the most changes to my body with the least impact on my joints!

I love that it really works the stomach muscles so that you feel it!

Onwards and upwards. Smile
