30 day shred starts tomorrow!

FauxFox · 06/03/2016 18:44

Need to shift my winter flab and tone up so I'm going to do the 30 day shred starting tomorrow. I will carry on running 3 x per week as usual and I will be drinking no booze for the 30 days but otherwise eating normally. I'll weigh and measure my waist in the morning and use this thread as my diary to help me stay motivated- feel free to join in if you fancy Smile

I have also swapped to some slightly heavier weights (only 1.5kg, but that's double what I have been using!). It's a bit late in the day for it really, as I have only a week left, but I'm planning to carry on shredding a few days a week once the program has finished.

Yesterday was A Good Day, as someone I don't see too often actually commented that I was looking toned and slimmer, so that was a real boost!

I have been doing 7 days of the 30 day squat challenge also, and I am getting defined muscles in my thighs! I can't believe it, I keep checking my legs out!

Well done for keeping so motivated everyone. Atticus don't beat yourself up over your choice of tea (it sounds amazing, haha). I had something from McDonald's the other day, but then reasoned with myself that it was only a cheeseburger and small fries, which was 550 calories - not that much more than I would normally be having for lunch anyway. We're humans, we'll "slip up" occasionally!

LumpySpacedPrincess · 12/03/2016 11:46

I managed to lose 5 lbs this week and my jeans are nice and loose, that's purely through exercise as I haven't changed my diet at all! Grin

I really think heavier weights are the way to go, I switch to lighter for certain exercises but would rather do fewer reps with good positioning and heavier weights, my body really responds to that.

I'm gonna do mine later as I have to ferry kids round today.

DutchMummy88 · 12/03/2016 12:15

Well done lozza and lumpy! I don't think I've lost any weight but I'll measure and weigh in on Monday to keep it to once a week. I do however feel a lot stronger in my core, maybe there's some actual abs hiding underneath my mumtum! Can't wait for the extra fat to go and the muscle to show haha

I like the idea of adding the squat challenge lozza, I don't think I've had defined muscles in my thighs since I was 15...

FauxFox · 12/03/2016 13:14

You are all doing fabulously! Well done! Love a thread like this to keep me focussed; thanks so much for joining in Smile

I have done Day 6 Level 1 and been for a run, too late for breakfast so had avocado on toast for lunch and will be eating a slab of the delicious salted caramel birthday cake I made the kids this afternoon and thai salad for dinner.

Have a wonderful Saturday, see you tomorrow!

Well done, everyone! This thread is definitely helping a lot with motivation. Day 4 is done for today. I'm feeling quite stronger since I started, the exercises are getting easier. I'll try and weigh myself on Monday to see if I've lost anything.

FauxFox · 13/03/2016 20:30

Hi all! Day 7 - done!

Not been the healthiest day in the world (Buttery mushrooms on toast/cheese scones/slab of birthday cake!!) but going to have fishcakes and steamed veg in a min to make up for it Grin

Will weigh and measure in the morning to see if a week has made a difference , I definitely feel a bit better in any case!

Hello all,
Hope it's okay to join in a week late!
Am starting Shred again tomorrow and the additional motivation from MN definitely helps with sticking to the routine.

Have been a semi regular Jillian fan in the past (RI30, BFBM & Shred), but for some reason have done absolutely nothing except get flabby and out of shape for the past 8 months. I did start Shred again last month, but then stopped when I got a chest infection. Am well again, so I need to get back exercising - fed up with feeling so unfit.

Lozzapops · 13/03/2016 20:50

Welcome bimble, well done for getting back on it!
And congrats on all the progress everyone. Can't believe I only have 6 workouts left, then will be finished! I do plan on sticking at it (just not every single day), or at least doing some different workouts.
Faux, I've also not had the best food day today, it's been carb-central over here. Keep saying to myself "will do better tomorrow" but don't quite manage it! My motivation for healthy eating has really waned recently. Well, onwards!

AtticusFlinch · 13/03/2016 21:00

Hi Bimble, hope you have better luck shredding this time! Smile

Day 5 finished - already getting sick of listening to Jillian's commentary, I pretty much know it off by heart! Finally managed to do the whole thing with 2kg weights, though my arms are definitely hating me for it.

I'm supposed to be going away for a week long residential course at the start of April and have just realised that I only have twenty-ish days to go until then. I'm not sure if I'll be able to do the workouts while I'm away, as I don't know whether I'll be sharing a room or the timings of each day. So worst case scenario, I won't be able to complete my thirty days arghh

I would like to try and complete at least a good chunk of it this time round (particularly because I've never made it past the first day of Level 2!) So I'm considering trying it with just eight days per level. Does anyone who's completed it before think that's doable? Alternatively, I could just carry on as I am and pray that I get a chance to work out while away. Wink Either way, I think I'll be happy that I've stuck with it for a while.

FauxFox · 14/03/2016 07:28

Hi bimble Smile

Well done Lozza - amazing!

I think I would do each level for 8 days and see how it goes Atticus (although you could actually ask Jillian if you do the web chat this eve! Grin)

10st 5 this morning which is 2lb off, can't find my tape measure at the mo but I feel a bit slimmer in the waist so I think it's working ok! Hoping to see 10st by the end, I can always be a bit stricter on food for week 3 if needs be - a weekend of cake is hardly going to aid weight loss is it?!

Monday plan: Run this morning, shred this evening, yoghurt, banana and seeds for breakfast, crumpets for lunch, prawn salad for dinner, fruit and nuts for snacks.

Have a great start to the week everyone!

Waist is 28" so 1" off Grin

Lost two pounds since last week and Day 6 done, so a good day today! Well done FauxFox on your loss! Think I'll try the eight days per level, mainly because I'm sick of this one already Grin

LumpySpacedPrincess · 14/03/2016 19:55

Day 8 done.

almostthirty · 14/03/2016 20:04

I've tried shred before but never really got past day 10, so here goes.
Starting day 1 tonight and I'm hoping with you lot to kick me up the backside I might make it past the 2 week mark !

Lozzapops · 14/03/2016 20:08

Welcome almostthirty, and good luck with getting started! We will kick you up the butt!

Well done everyone on weight loss and persisting with the shred!

Have just finished day 25, my wrists are really struggling, there is a lot of plank work, don't think they'll last much longer! Just need to stay strong for a few more days!

Has anyone posted a question for Jillian in the web chat? She has just started answering questions now, I hope she gets a chance to answer mine!

FauxFox · 14/03/2016 22:33

Day 8 done Smile going to do day 9 in the morning as am out for early dinner tomorrow night.

Hi almost - good luck this time!

OP posts:
FauxFox · 15/03/2016 11:33

Day 9 done! Porridge for breakfast, avocado on toast for lunch, out for dinner but chicken-something probably.

Nearly finished level 1! Exciting!

OP posts:
Lozzapops · 15/03/2016 15:03

Well done faux, I did mine this morning as well, feels so nice to get it done and out the way, doesn't it? I have to do 105 squats this evening as the next stage in my squat challenge, fml. But at least the shred is done!

Enjoy your dinner out!

AtticusFlinch · 15/03/2016 18:29

105 squats? My legs would break! Shock Maybe that'll be a new challenge for me when I'm done with the Shred. Day 7 finished, only one more day at Level 1 for me. Not sure whether I'm glad or nervous for the next level!

LumpySpacedPrincess · 15/03/2016 18:45

Day 9 done!

FauxFox · 15/03/2016 20:15

105 squats?! Shock

Absolutly stuffed with chicken and bbq sides - de-licious! Grin

Was lucky I shredded this morning I would probably vom if I tried to do it now!

almostthirty · 15/03/2016 21:07

Had a huge hair dye disaster so after 3 trips to supermarket and 2 applications I really can't be bothered especially as I'm still waiting to rinse hair dye. On a positive I have done 2000 extra steps today, even though feeling crap!

FauxFox · 16/03/2016 07:10

Oh no almost Sad hope it turned out ok in the end?

Planning to shred (last one in level 1 - woohoo!) and go for a run this morning, porridge for breakfast, avocado on toast for lunch and gnocchi for dinner. Have a good day all!

OP posts:
FauxFox · 16/03/2016 10:36

Exercise done! Will weigh and measure in the morning to see what level 1 has achieved 😊

The push ups were definitely the hardest thing in level 1 for me...I can't remember much about level 2...probably for the best!

Been watching this thread with interest...I've let myself go completely in the last year and I feel so daunted. Blush also I will be 40 this year and I feel like I might be stuck with this flabby, untoned body forever...is anyone else on this thread my age? Will it still work??!! Confused
