Bloody hell - that 7 min Davina exercise DVD

It works!

I've been at it a week. Before that, did fuck all exercise for YEARS. Ended up with a bad knee every time I tried running etc so gave up.

This was a last ditch attempt to stop my body basically falling off, and I was attracted by the fact it would all be done in seven minutes and at least I could tell myself I'd done something.

It actually frigging works.

(Promise I don't work for Davina. Booble plate, river of sweetcorn, cube of poo, pombears, elderly Korean lady.)

But if there is anyone who was like me, who hates exercise and just generally CBA with gyms etc, this is cracking.

Just done the abs.

Christ.

Ordered.

I need to start exercising again.

stevienickstophat · 15/02/2015 10:39

There's some running on the spot for three seconds at a time in the fat burner workout that I've done.

Can't wait! Definitely keep this going and post regular updates. I'm hoping mine arrives by Tuesday, will be doing my 7 mins before work.

stevienickstophat · 15/02/2015 10:45

Well, hopefully keeping a thread going will make me keep it up, once the initial excitement fades.

I know from bitter experience that that could happen.

It'd be brilliant if we could keep each other motivated and share results and tips.

Showy seems to be more of an expert than me. Fancy sticking around on the thread, showy?

Showy · 15/02/2015 10:45

I assume you did fat burner and not ultimate fat burner given you needed your tuna? I much prefer the latter. Have you tried it? I tend to do the ultimate fat burner twice in a row as a warm up.

Showy · 15/02/2015 10:48

Love to stick around. I am always recommending Davina and no bugger listens. Nice to have people to chat to.

Well done on starting. The hardest bit. It works, its is SO manageable and you will just get fitter and stronger.

I get so, so cold about half an hour after working out. Do you find that at all? I have tips if you do after years of shivering.

Victrix · 15/02/2015 10:49

Going to pick this up on iTunes Grin

Easily led? Me? Noooooooooo

Unidentifieditem · 15/02/2015 10:50

Ladies, you cns get this on I tunes too- for anyone who needs it NOW. I'll download it later. Love a quick workout for days I'm not running. Did the shred last year with great success.

stevienickstophat · 15/02/2015 10:51

I haven't tried ultimate fat burner yet. I'm starting from zero, so am taking it slowly.

It's good to have an expert around, I'm a total novice.

I've just ordered a set of hand weights from amazon, so the tuna will soon be retired Sad

OP posts:
stevienickstophat · 15/02/2015 10:52

I don't get cold, but I do find I lose my appetite.

What's that about?

OP posts:
Showy · 15/02/2015 10:55

You are not easily led or a sheep. You are inspired.

Seriously, look at Davina. In ten years, even having had another baby, she has just got fitter and stronger. She hasn't yo-yo dieted or ballooned or pedalled crap. She is not a fad. She recommends exercising efficiently and eating sensibly and she is a great advert for what that can do for a woman in her 40s with 3 dc.

stevienickstophat · 15/02/2015 10:57

She does look bloody great.

I want her tummy.

Sorry victrix - cross post a Rama!

AmazonGrace · 15/02/2015 10:58

Damn, wish I'd thought of itunes! Envy

PeaStalks · 15/02/2015 10:58

This looks like the thing for me OP.
Age 56, loathe exercise, no stamina, dodgy back. I don't need to lose weight but I do need to get off the sofa. I read this article yesterday which suggests that just doing a little bit regularly actually works. The writer just runs 2 miles every other day. Now I couldn't run when I was 12 so am definitely not up for that now but 7 minutes in the kitchen? Hmm.
I wonder whether there is an app version I can use on iPad and lock myself in kitchen so no-one can see.

BadPoet · 15/02/2015 11:00

Just checked on iTunes too Victrix. Can only see HD option (sigh). Am really skint (soooo many family February birthdays) - you can buy the individual sessions for £2.50 each, what are the best ones? Start with Fat Burner or Ultimate Fat Burner? Ultimate says it's shorter (7 mins 35 compared to 12 something for the Fat Burner) - what sorcery is this? Assuming it's because the warm up is included.

Showy · 15/02/2015 11:01

It is totally normal to have a decreased appetite post workout. Occasionally, it is a sign of over training but I doubt that will happen with 7 minutes. It is a side effect of aerobic exercise and hormone related.

You may find that the most efficient way to exercise is first thing. Do not eat breakfast beforehand. Hydrate well and have a protein rich breakfast 30-45mins post workout.

Chocrock · 15/02/2015 11:02

just ordered on Amazon, I am sure it works I just hope I can stick to it!

stevienickstophat · 15/02/2015 11:02

Hi peastalks

I was inspired to do something by that news article that said just a little bit of exercise is needed to ward off early death. Like, just getting up from your desk and walking around a bit.

I started doing that. I work in a school, so I picked up a file and just walked around the corridors and up and down the stairs for ten minutes morning and afternoon. I carried the file so it looked like I was taking something somewhere Blush

Then I read the 'Beyond Chocolate' book which said about moving your body and it seemed to make sense.

I can't remember what inspired me to look into the Davina DVD. Probably Mumsnet, funnily enough.

stevienickstophat · 15/02/2015 11:07

Oh, and jumping.

I haven't jumped yet, but I haven't done that many of the workouts.

What do you think, Showy? Jumping?

OP posts:
stevienickstophat · 15/02/2015 11:12

That article is really good, Peastalks

You lot have given me a kick.

I've been ever so good since I retired, swimming every day and planning to try exercise classes once my back strengthened. But. I was getting bored of it and was starting to pile on the excuses not to go.

Last week I got a job starting in March and my first though was "ooh I'd better cancel the gym now then" (the timings won't work). DH was talking about getting me an exercise bike or cross trainer that I could use in the mornings, but we couldn't really afford that yet.

So I've bought the DVD with next day delivery.

Let's see how I go...

Thanks Stevie Thanks

stevienickstophat · 15/02/2015 11:13

Good luck, Eve

Let us know how you get on.

I've been doing this since new year. Am loving it. I've lost 9lb so far and my tum is definatley more toned as are my thighs.
I do the workout as soon as I get up I'm still in my pjs then I have a shower and wake the kids up.
I agree I was knackered to start but starting to get better now. Ed is lovely and his twitter advice is great
