Bloody hell - that 7 min Davina exercise DVD

It works!

I've been at it a week. Before that, did fuck all exercise for YEARS. Ended up with a bad knee every time I tried running etc so gave up.

This was a last ditch attempt to stop my body basically falling off, and I was attracted by the fact it would all be done in seven minutes and at least I could tell myself I'd done something.

It actually frigging works.

(Promise I don't work for Davina. Booble plate, river of sweetcorn, cube of poo, pombears, elderly Korean lady.)

But if there is anyone who was like me, who hates exercise and just generally CBA with gyms etc, this is cracking.

Serious question. I have knackered lower back and knee problems. What are my chances of being able to do it?

I used to run a lot but I am in pain after 1 dance with DH last night :(

stevienickstophat · 15/02/2015 09:28

Haha, showy, he is a bendy man.

I have a feeling I'm not "his type" either.

But he's easy on the eye...

Seriously, though, he's got a very laid back way about him, and seems to really know what he's on about. Reassuring.

Oooh doesn't she work with Jackie and Mark anymore? Totally up for this once I get this baby out Grin

The reviews on amazon look very promising too.

Showy · 15/02/2015 09:31

It is excellent if you have back problems. You do need to check with a gp that you are safe to exercise though. Watch the tutorials and be very obsessibe about form.

And you need TWO hand weights. I use 5ks or 8ks but you can start much smaller!

stevienickstophat · 15/02/2015 09:32

Buzzard

In all honesty, I'm not an expert, and if you're worried you should maybe get expert advice.

BUT

My lower back kills me sometimes. My right knee started giving me gyp whenever I tried running. I noticed that if I'd been out in heels my legs and back killed the next day, and sometimes if I'd been sitting in one position for too long, my knee locked and then gave way.

I'm only forty and I felt like I was falling apart.

So I was nervous about this. But I feel fitter and stronger. And my knee hasn't hurt at all.

That's why I started it really. Not to be thin. Just to feel better. And I do.

Right, I've put it on my list of stuff to do over the half term (after buying it). You have motivated me op. 10 minutes is do-able for me.

stevienickstophat · 15/02/2015 09:33

Must get some weights. The workouts I do only need one, but yes, some need two.

Jackie had a health scare and had to take a step back. New trainer is absolutely brill though. I still do the old dvds v regularly.

stevienickstophat · 15/02/2015 09:34

Good luck maresedotes

Ooh, I hope some of you come back and say what you think.

Thank you Stevie - my inner thighs regularly explode through my jeans in a Hulk-like manner, and my bum is heading south at am alarming rate so you've totally convinced me. I'm off to buy it today!

Bakeoffcakes · 15/02/2015 09:38

I've just ordered it. Thanks for the recommendation.

AmazonGrace · 15/02/2015 09:38

I used to use tins of beans when I attempted the Shred DVD Blush

fishybits · 15/02/2015 09:38

How much space do you need?

CuttedUpPear · 15/02/2015 09:38

Ok, you've convinced me. I'm going to give it a go.
Am v skint at the moment though. Might I find any of the exercises on YouTube?
(Sorry Davina) Blush

stevienickstophat · 15/02/2015 09:38

Good luck, margot, tell us how you get on!

CynthiaRose · 15/02/2015 09:38

I started a thread yesterday about exercising at home and this was recommended, among others. This thread has given me the push and I have just ordered.

stevienickstophat · 15/02/2015 09:39

Ooh, I dunno, CuttedUpPear

Worth a look, though.

Davina's Army!

stevienickstophat · 15/02/2015 09:42

fishybits

I do it in front of the couch.

You need to be able to do three sideways gallop things, and to be able to lunge forwards.

AmazonGrace · 15/02/2015 09:43

It's ordered! Grin

Now hopefully I won't have to buy the next size up work trousers. Mine have 'shrunk' since Christmas!

stevienickstophat · 15/02/2015 09:44

Brilliant, Amazon

Good luck!

PeaceOfWildThings · 15/02/2015 09:45

EdR what is the 7 minute thing you have on your phone?

Showy · 15/02/2015 09:45

Space wise you need to be able to lie down, lunge, side step. So a metre of space around you in each direction. My house is teeny and it is fine.

I can't join an army. I am a pacifist. Box fit is as aggressive as I get. Grin Shame you can't do box fit. I like it the most.

fishybits · 15/02/2015 09:45

Thanks Stevie, this might be what I need to get off my fat arse and sort myself out.

Showy · 15/02/2015 09:46

Oh there's a grape vine too in one of the 2 weight workouts.
