Bloody hell - that 7 min Davina exercise DVD

It works!

I've been at it a week. Before that, did fuck all exercise for YEARS. Ended up with a bad knee every time I tried running etc so gave up.

This was a last ditch attempt to stop my body basically falling off, and I was attracted by the fact it would all be done in seven minutes and at least I could tell myself I'd done something.

It actually frigging works.

(Promise I don't work for Davina. Booble plate, river of sweetcorn, cube of poo, pombears, elderly Korean lady.)

But if there is anyone who was like me, who hates exercise and just generally CBA with gyms etc, this is cracking.

Update an hour later: my legs are no longer my friends Sad.

AmazonGrace · 17/03/2015 07:11

Well done Kinky!

Back on it this morning, warm up, ultimate legs, tone & burn.

Never in a million years would I have thought I'd EVER workout in the mornings! It's thanks to this thread and everyone on it motivating me!

Well done all!

I woke up in time to get up and do it but seems I have been surprised by a massive cold. Feeling really shitty so Davina will have to wait again. Am actually disappointed and I never thought I would be disappointed to not do exercise!

velmadinkly · 17/03/2015 08:51

I got up this morning and did the mental talking to myself with the 'you only have to do warm up and one session' (It's TOTM and I'm not really feeling it).

I ended up doing warm up, fat burner, ultimate fat burner, tone and sculpt and some stretching.

I'm on day 3 of WW, so hopefully I can lose 7 - 10lb before my holiday in July. I think losing that much with some toning up will make me feel so much better about myself.

BuzzardBird · 17/03/2015 10:44

Back on it this morning though knee painful so those leg lunges not for me. Instead did warm up, tone and sculpt (after realizing I can't do most of the others) abs and total stretch. I need my weights though.

MrsMcGregor · 17/03/2015 11:16

Well done you lot!

Someone give me a talking to! Am so disillusioned .... is it normal not to be aching having done it 7 times? Last week I could hardly walk so sore were my hamstrings and my triceps ached too. Did the leg session for the first time yesterday and it nearly killed me but not a bloody twinge. Yet again got totally distracted this morning ... everyone off school and work .... so only managed warm up, fat burner and packed it in after two of the leg circuits because I needed to put stuff in the dryer (fgs). My legs are like jelly, the perspiration was pouring down my face so I am doing something but boy, do I need a kick into action! Feeling deflated!

PeaceOfWildThings · 17/03/2015 12:20

MrsM, well done! I find it's the pilates style stretches which make me ache most. I dudnt work up a sweat at all yesterday, did 30mins + 3 different 10 min workouts and today I needed to hold the hand rail while going downstairs.

Didn't want to do a workout today but I'd decided yesterday that I'd do a bum/thigh workout and wirk up a sweat, followed by piltates. I did! Really pleased, considering I'm a late starter on this thread.

Well done everyone!

Moodykat · 17/03/2015 12:27

I don't understand MrsM! Sounds like you are doing great!

BuzzardBird · 17/03/2015 16:33

Perhaps, when you get good at it it no longer hurts? Tbh I must be doing it wrong because I never hurt, I get hot and can tell I've done something but I always stretch at the end and that seems to stop me from hurting. Saying that, I am taking it easy, haven't done any of the really energetic ones...yet.

KinkyDorito · 17/03/2015 17:26

Fat burner this morning has killed me Buzzard. I did tone and stretch and abs, felt fine - fat burner today and my arse has been letting me know about it with every step I take. Saying that, I feel very virtuous Grin.

I remember doing Davina's power of 3 before my wedding (9 years ago). There was one that involved lots of squatting with weights. I could hardly walk for a week and I am not exaggerating!

PeaceOfWildThings · 17/03/2015 17:29

I think.it depends on

A) the type of exercises (I feel the core/abs and stretches more, not the star jumps or squats or lunges or weights).
B) Wherther you get the stretches at the end right and drink water. If I do I don't feel it, if I don't stretch properly of drink water, it hurts the next day.
C) How much you put into it. I am using 'fitness blender' youtube videos and they often complain about feeling a burn I cannot feel, and they also talk about stiffness and aches from their other workouts. They are fit as fleas and half my age and have years worth of vids online.

stevienickstophat · 17/03/2015 17:45

Hello everyone!

Back on it tonight after a funny few days.

Did warm up, fat burner and tone and burn and really enjoyed it.

I have to say, I haven't ached much at all throughout this process, but I've still felt the benefits. I think the 'no pain no gain' thing is overrated.

Don't give up, MrsM. It must be better to be doing something rather than nothing.

HemanOrSheRa · 17/03/2015 18:02

I'm pretty sure that if you warm up and cool down properly exercise shouldn't hurt once you've got into a routine. But what do I know Confused? I haven't done anything since Saturday. I'm due on any day and feel awful. But I have been very good in work. I've been using the stairs instead of lifts and went right to the top of an 11 storey building today using the stairs. I really noticed the strength in my legs so something is working!

KinkyDorito · 18/03/2015 06:12

I think I might have to start with warm up + 1 session + stretch for a bit, although that is quite frustrating. My legs were really suffering this morning. Did abs instead.

Moodykat · 18/03/2015 07:08

Morning everyone!

Still full of cold so resting from Davina again today but will probably do some gentle yoga tonight.

anniepanniepears · 18/03/2015 07:44

haven't managed any from sunday as bedroom floor has collapsed
(not with me jumping on it lol) so house is a tip everything lying everywhere
just a very old house and wear and tear on the wood
been sorted now and new carpet fitted today
so hopefully back tomorrow
must say I have missed it

AmazonGrace · 18/03/2015 08:11

Morning Grin Annie, that made me chuckle!

Warm up and legs done this morning!

Tmi but....Dp said my bottom felt firmer in bed last night - YES! It does feel less jelly like I have to say, more at the top but hopefully it will work it's way round.

Anyway, as you were!

velmadinkly · 18/03/2015 09:17

Well I didn't muster any enthusiasm to do any exercise this morning. TMI, but my TOTM is far to heavy to be jumping around and I physically feel too weak, even when I walk I keep on having to stop because I think my legs are going to collapse underneath me. I normally only bleed really heavily for about 24-36 hours, so seeing as it started during the night, then I should theoretically be fine for tomorrow morning.

I still have to cycle into work though, so It's not as though I've just sat on my arse or anything!

From the tone and sculpt yesterday morning I could feel it in my shoulder blades last night, not exactly an ouchy pain, but more of a bruised kid of feeling.

Day 4 of WW today, so hopefully I'll see a loss on Sunday.

LittleMissIntrovert · 18/03/2015 09:28

Ooh my DVD is arriving today and I'm very excited!

I love swimming but had to give it up as the chlorine made my eczema flare up. I do a lot of fast walking as can't run as I have knackered knees!

Really want to tone up, especially my tummy.

I'm going to do it tonight I think, can't wait now Grin

patterkiller · 18/03/2015 09:37

I missed yesterday as my back was a bit dodgy. I think I twisted funny doing the ultimate fat burner. I'll make sure I tense the abs next time. So today, abs, tone and burn, fitness challenge. Now dog walk then work. littlemiss you will love it, it's crap when you can't do sport you enjoy, I had to give up running due to back issues but I am really enjoying this, and as a bonus it's so easy to fit in, even if it's just one session in my Pjs.

lisbapalea · 18/03/2015 09:40

Just spotted this thread and am now very tempted to buy this DVD after all of your rave reviews! I have never used an exercise DVD and am very lazy and exercise averse, but I do want to change.

I really want to lose 3st in total but am trying to break that up into half stone chunks over shorter time periods so it doesn't seem so daunting (currently trying to shift half a stone by mid-may).

Will it be good for a total novice in the exercise world?

Moodykat · 18/03/2015 10:52

Hi Lis, the short answer is yes! It is fab for everyone. I am a novice and can manage it! There are tutorials which are a good idea to watch as they show you the best way to do the moves.

AmazonGrace · 18/03/2015 10:55

Lisb, yes it will, you can do as little or as much as you like. I have NEVER exercised in the mornings but loving doing the short sessions, started just doing one but up to two now...well sometimes Grin

AmazonGrace · 18/03/2015 10:57

Vel, I have the coil fitted which has stopped my periods so I've no excuse!

PeteCampbellsRecedingHairline · 18/03/2015 11:25

Morning everyone. I had a day off yesterday which felt a bit weird. I'm definitely going to do some today and Day 3 of C25k.

I'm also quite spotty at the moment. Don't know if it's the sweat or the hormones in my coil.
