Bloody hell - that 7 min Davina exercise DVD

stevienickstophat · 15/02/2015 08:36

It works!

I've been at it a week. Before that, did fuck all exercise for YEARS. Ended up with a bad knee every time I tried running etc so gave up.

This was a last ditch attempt to stop my body basically falling off, and I was attracted by the fact it would all be done in seven minutes and at least I could tell myself I'd done something.

It actually frigging works.

(Promise I don't work for Davina. Booble plate, river of sweetcorn, cube of poo, pombears, elderly Korean lady.)

But if there is anyone who was like me, who hates exercise and just generally CBA with gyms etc, this is cracking.

Good effort, auntpetunia! 9lbs!

Have you been dieting too?

Just out of nosiness interest - what size are you OP? I'm a hefty 16 with the aforementioned thunderous thighs. Just wondering if you're seeing great results so quickly because you're an okay shape to start with, just need some toning IYSWIM.

Grin at the Michael Jackson tuna grabbing.

ELR · 15/02/2015 11:26

showy it's an app called 7 minute work out got it in the App Store it's free and basically 12 exercises that you do for 30 seconds each with a 10 second break inbetween. I jump out of bed put my sports bra on and trainers(bad foot) and keep knickers on, press start and the whole thing takes 7 minutes it's a combo of jumping jacks, wall sits, push ups, plank, sit ups ect very good and you can def feel it. There is a little demo of each exercise and it says 5 seconds left nearly at the end of each exercise.
The davina one sounds good too as it has different combos.

Showy · 15/02/2015 11:32

No to jumping really. Running on the spot for a few seconds, side steps and similar. Is v joint friendly. I always jump in on things like plank stuff but that's me. I put in extra moves where poss. Oh there are things like squat to jumping back up but it is a single explode upwards with soft knees and soft landing. You can always double squat instead of squat to jump.

BadPoet · 15/02/2015 11:34

Found SD option and going to start by downloading Fat Burner. Thanks stevie. I needed this push. Flowers If this turns into a support thread, I'll be back!

Showy · 15/02/2015 11:35

Squat jumps are in box fit (10 punches, 1 squat jump, 8 punches, 1 squat jump, 6 punches... etc). Other section is legs iirc. Three squats to one jump up). Think I am remembering right. Will tell you in a bit. Off to exercise!

PeaStalks · 15/02/2015 11:35

jumping jacks, wall sits, push ups, plank, sit ups etc
Oh dear, I need a lie down just thinking about all that. I couldn't do a push up if you paid me. Perhaps I am a lost cause.

Showy · 15/02/2015 11:36

Nooo. Ultimate fat burner is better. No weights either.

PeaceOfWildThings · 15/02/2015 11:36

Is there an App for Android?

Showy · 15/02/2015 11:37

Push ups are easy, just require practice. Start on your knees!

Lizzylou · 15/02/2015 11:38

I have just ordered, was reading the thread sat in car on gym car park, not wanting to go in Blush
I am teacher training at the moment and have no time to exercise in the week so my fitness levels have dropped which means that I don't want to do anything, bit of a circle of increasing flabbiness.

badRoly · 15/02/2015 11:38

I just downloaded it and did fat burner with dc1&2. Dc1 has taken to her bed to recover, dc2 is moaning his legs hurt...

BadPoet · 15/02/2015 11:40

Really Showy? I thought that I'd need the Fat Burner first to get the warm up (it's not listed separately on iTunes).

Showy · 15/02/2015 11:43

That sounded really bloody patronising. Sorry. The problem with a push up is that most people try and use their arms to support their whole weight and can't. Well that is normal. There's a reason out of proportion muscle heads show off using press ups. Inefficient, pointless nonsense. A push up requires your whole body. Your abs, core, back, shoulders and legs all play a part. Engage them and keep good form and anybody can do a push up.

badRoly · 15/02/2015 11:43

BadPoet if you go to the iTunes store, TV programmes, you can get the whole DVD for £12.99. Cheaper than getting the separate sections at £2.50 each Smile

Jbck · 15/02/2015 11:44

ELR there are a few 7 minute free apps do you know which one it is? I'd hate to waste 7 minutes doing a duff one Grin

I love Davina but I've just got ( well for Xmas but the wrapper is off) a new yoga DVD that Im about to get to grips with first.

Will follow peeps progress and maybe get Davina in a few weeks.

Showy · 15/02/2015 11:46

The warm up is some dynamic stretching, circling arms, kicking bum, twisting waist. It is v short. Download fat burner if you need it. Still a good work out but requires a weight and I just prefer the othe one.

BadPoet · 15/02/2015 11:47

I know badRoly but I haven't got £12.99 to spare right now - but I can get a couple of the sections and get the rest when I cash out my next £10 survey voucher Wink. Although I was hoping it might let me 'complete the series' for the same overall amount like it does with albums.

BigRedBall · 15/02/2015 11:50

No I can't buy this. MN makes me buy crap that I never end up using. Is there a free option anywhere?

badRoly · 15/02/2015 11:50

Ah ok, that makes sense, I wasn't sure if you'd seen it - when I searched, it took me straight to the individual 'episodes'. Fingers crossed it'll let you do the album thing.

stevienickstophat · 15/02/2015 11:52

Margot

I'm a size 14, weigh over 12 stone and am 5ft 7.

Believe me, I'm in no great shape.

I have a long back so carry weight well and people are usually surprised at how much I weigh, but let's just say I was at the point where they were looking less surprised.

I've stopped weighing myself (Beyond Chocolate again) so I don't know if I've lost any weight, but I have DEFINITELY toned up.

Another thing is, it's definitely doing my mood good. I have anxiety, and this helps. Just feeling that I'm doing something positive is a mood-lifter.

Place marking, I have some of davina early Dvds and love the kick boxing workout on her three thirty min workout Dvd.
Have been looking for something to combine with my running and this sounds perfect.

Btw I am currently ill in bed, the tuna posts made me laugh, which made me cough until I almost puked. Not good.

CiderwithBuda · 15/02/2015 12:00

Am liking the sound of this. 7 mins I can do. But will I?

Right - will download on iTunes and try to do every day if I don't go to the gym. Which I don't do very often!

ELR · 15/02/2015 12:12

jbck yes it's on android was actually play store as I don't even have an iPhone!!
There are loads all more or less same thing try a few I'm on my third one as didn't like the voice of the others and one had a weird bell just before the end which made me jump! DH has a differnt one on his phone to me. The one I've got is a sort of turquoise blue colour.

YouAreMyRain · 15/02/2015 12:15

Which 7 min app on iTunes have people tried? There are lots of different 7 min workouts.
