Bloody hell - that 7 min Davina exercise DVD

It works!

I've been at it a week. Before that, did fuck all exercise for YEARS. Ended up with a bad knee every time I tried running etc so gave up.

This was a last ditch attempt to stop my body basically falling off, and I was attracted by the fact it would all be done in seven minutes and at least I could tell myself I'd done something.

It actually frigging works.

(Promise I don't work for Davina. Booble plate, river of sweetcorn, cube of poo, pombears, elderly Korean lady.)

But if there is anyone who was like me, who hates exercise and just generally CBA with gyms etc, this is cracking.

MrsM mine is getting worse. Climbing the stairs is horrendous. Grin

MrsMcGregor · 10/03/2015 22:54

I ran upstairs this evening Pete ... I've been hauling myself up, holding onto the banisters for the last couple of days!

Thanks for suggestions for tomorrow .... going to do the stretch with the tone and burn, then have a day off on Thursday - note, preplanned not giving up this early on!

AmazonGrace · 11/03/2015 07:04

Wow, just done warm up and tone & burn for the first time! Think I will need to re think the 3kg weights Grin think my arms might be aching tomorrow! 3kg are fine when you're holding one with both arms but boy, tone and burn just put paid to that.

Moodykat · 11/03/2015 07:11

Morning all! Warm up and fat burner done.

PeteCampbellsRecedingHairline · 11/03/2015 08:04

Fat Burner, Tone and Sculpt and Stretch done. Watched by 2 DC and a hamster. HmmGrin

Moodykat · 11/03/2015 08:33

Yes, my smallest DS warms up with me and both DS's chime in with "I'm a bendy man" now and fall about laughing!

HemanOrSheRa · 11/03/2015 08:55

You morning exercisers inspired me today! I didn't do anything last night. I was exhausted so opted for an early night instead. I saw your early morning posts and thought I'd better get on with it too! Fat Burner and Tone and Sculpt done!

velmadinkly · 11/03/2015 09:17

I'm late to post, but I was all done by 6.45 this morning. I did warm up, fat burner, ultimate fat burner and abs and some stretch.

I had really irritable legs in bed last night and I ended up having to put some flight socks on. I sometimes do this when I've been sat a lot because it seems to make my legs irritable. When I put them on, I could feel the pulsing of my blood in my legs and surprisingly, my legs weren't as achy this morning! I wonder if I've inadvertently come across a recovery method?

Can I ask, do you all wear trainers if you are exercising on a carpeted floor? I'm not and I don't feel as though I'm doing myself any damage. Do you think I ought to?

This thread is so motivational. I feel as though I don't want to let you all down by not doing it. I also imagine others doing the DVD in their homes at the same time as a bit of mental moral support.

Hey everyone I'm a long time Davina fan and just started 7 Minutes on Sunday, I'm really enjoying it so far. I like Ed and all the new stuff! I've only done fat burner, box fit and ultimate legs but I'm looking forward to trying the rest of them!

Moodykat · 11/03/2015 10:18

God Velma, what time did you start?!

I do wear trainers. It helps me feel a bit more "exercisey" if I have them on! Plus the fact I think I would slip over if I didn't!

Good for you Herman! I think it makes me more energetic for my day if I do it in the morning.

velmadinkly · 11/03/2015 10:22

i'm on it by 6.15/6.30. My alarm goes off at 6.07 and I muster myself for 5 minutes then I whip of my pyjamas, on with the sports bra and bottoms, downstairs, switch on TV and DVD, get mat, get a drink of water and away I go.

BuzzardBird · 11/03/2015 10:53

Nervous start as knee was killing me. Managed warm up, fat burner and then did total stretch. Couple I struggled with because of lower back and knee but odly enough knee hurts less now than it did before I did it!

Is it best to try and do something different everyday? Is it a good idea to always end with a total stretch?

Am I asking too many questions? Grin

MrsMcGregor · 11/03/2015 11:05

You're all putting me to shame! I did warmup, tone and sculpt ajd total stretch. Really missed fat burner and didn't feel as much of an exercise session without it so I will bring it back on Friday.

I think I just be the least bendy person in the universe. I exercise barefoot in our bedroom and today positioned myself infront of the long mirror. Okay, so I know I can't bend at a 90 degree angle from the waist with a straight back but oh my goodness, I was horrified at my shape in the stretch exercises where you are sitting .... rounded back, legs too stiff to straighten and worst of all .... my tummy, saggy, bulgy ..... ugh! Blush. I store all my weight around my midriff whilst the rest of me is slim ... abs next!

Huge sighs.

BuzzardBird · 11/03/2015 11:15

Mrs Do not look into the mirror! The mirror is for checking for spinach between your teeth, applying make-up and checking your skirt is not in your pants.

Turn the mirror around.

Moodykat · 11/03/2015 11:37

I agree completely with Buzzard. Why ON EARTH would you exercise in front of a mirror?! I would not be anywhere near brave enough to do that!

My tummy is also bulgy and saggy. Was doing yoga in lunchbreak at work yesterday and whilst planking I stupidly looked at my tummy. Not a pretty sight AT ALL!

wigglesrock · 11/03/2015 12:17

I've have the workouts downloaded, but have been doing a 7 minute HIT workout from YouTube just once a day, five days a week for the past two weeks - I tried on clothes this morning and noticed a difference (quite a big one), although none on the scales. I've been doing the Davina warm up, fat burner and my YouTube one for the past 3 days. I can't stress how unfit and flabby I am to begin with but I can do it.

On a separate point when I was doing the HIT workout I couldn't do the jumping jacks - awful pelvic floor calamity - this morning I decided to give them a go and success Smile

JoJoB77 · 11/03/2015 13:34

Ive been inspired by this thread so purchased the dvd yesterday. It arrived today and i've just done 'warmup', 'fatburner', 'tone & burn' and 'abs'.

I'm fairly fit i guess as i have been doing jillian michaels 30 day shred. However, i am aching already after doing all that, the abs one was tough!

stevienickstophat · 11/03/2015 14:32

Mirrors can go and sit with scales in the naughty corner. Bastards.

To the pp who asked if any difference could be found after doing just one session a day - I started doing this, and I could see a difference after a week. Maybe because I was so unfit to start with? Always warm-up too, though.

Now I'm getting fitter, I usually do three, but if time's short I do one session - because that's better than nothing.

Every little helps!

AmazonGrace · 11/03/2015 17:33

Couldn't agree more. I treat even one session as a huge bonus, have to say I'm rather enjoying it atm. I haven't noticed any great change in my body yet but I have noticed some of the workouts becoming easier, legs especially, which is the main area I wanted to work on. I'm pretty sure continuing this way will reap rewards, I will look at doing more sessions on certain days but I'm not going to beat myself up if I don't do them.

I love this thread, it's been a massive help in motivating me. Thanks Stevie!

stevienickstophat · 11/03/2015 17:46

Don't thank me - you lot made the thread! I love it too!

My legs are really sore tonight after doing the leg workout on Monday - the knee is playing up - so I'm going to have a rest day.

Weird though - I'm disappointed. I really look forward to flinging myself around the living room.

Back to it tomorrow!

OP posts:
BuzzardBird · 11/03/2015 18:44

Think I will miss out the leg workout as my sore knee is back with avengeance.

Anyone got any tips on which ones are not too bad on lower back or left knees?

Physio Friday, might as well show them my knee at its worst.

HelenaVagBasket · 11/03/2015 19:07

I will be back on it tonight after 2 days off due to poorly DS. I have missed it ! Did a few squats and lunges around the kitchen earlier.
I want to buy Davina's other dvd's now !

PeaceOfWildThings · 11/03/2015 20:38

I did a 30 minute legs/bum/abs with weight this morning. Went well and felt great.

Small change: I think the exercise is helping me be a bit more emotionally resilient and positive, and to bounce back after an emotional set back. Yesterday was a horribly stressful day. I had to deal with a really shitty siuation on my own and it messed with my head. Was able to turn it around in about an hour. Got a phone call about it later in the day which set me crying again, but after the phone call was able to set my head right in minutes. Today I was able to talk about it without crying! This is pretty amazing for me.

Small change: I think I might be developing some extra muscles in my face! GrinBlush Perhaps I pull faces when I exercise? I don't know. It feels like there is more resistance than there was when I smile.

I have lovely little achy places all over. No actual pain, just little reminders that I've been putting some effort in. Hopefully a sign that it will pay off!

HemanOrSheRa · 11/03/2015 20:58

I think regular exercise makes you feel more confident and in control of things Peace. As well as feeling physically strong too. More able to cope with 'stuff'.

Anyway, I noticed a little difference today. I was sat in a meeting at work and folded my arms across my chest. As I did it I thought 'that feels really weird, what the hell is wrong with my arms?!' I realised it is MUSCLE! I have biceps! When I sort of tensed them when folding my arms I could actually feel them bulging Grin.

That last bit might be a slight exaggeration Blush.

PeaceOfWildThings · 11/03/2015 21:16

There is a school of thoughtbthat says whatever is good for heart health is also good for the head. So healthy diet and exercise are also good for the brain, but they don't really know why.
