Bloody hell - that 7 min Davina exercise DVD

It works!

I've been at it a week. Before that, did fuck all exercise for YEARS. Ended up with a bad knee every time I tried running etc so gave up.

This was a last ditch attempt to stop my body basically falling off, and I was attracted by the fact it would all be done in seven minutes and at least I could tell myself I'd done something.

It actually frigging works.

(Promise I don't work for Davina. Booble plate, river of sweetcorn, cube of poo, pombears, elderly Korean lady.)

But if there is anyone who was like me, who hates exercise and just generally CBA with gyms etc, this is cracking.

Morning everyone. Did tone and Burn this morning, think it's my favourite.

I agree with my head being in a better place since starting and small change - my manager commented on how healthy I am looking!

AmazonGrace · 12/03/2015 07:41

Warm up, legs done. I'm sure my bottom feels slightly firmer!

PeteCampbellsRecedingHairline · 12/03/2015 08:06

I only managed warm up and boxing today as DS2 spilt a jug of water over the kitchen floor.

Then there was no hot water for my shower. Aargh.

stevienickstophat · 12/03/2015 08:25

Morning all!

I totally get what you're saying about positive mood changes. That's been the best thing about this experience for me. I think part of it is that I feel like I'm looking after myself and doing something really positive just for me.

Can't wait to get back to it this evening, but will avoid the leg workout as my knee is still grumbling.

Vive les little differences!

Again, I'm late in posting, but this morning I did warm up, ultimate fat burn, fitness challenge, tone and sculpt and some stretch.

I got the dreaded scales out today and since I started 2 weeks ago I look as though I've lost about 2lb, but that is no change from the weekend just gone. I'm not getting disheartened though.

A positive thing for me is that I have a dodgy right hip due to knackered pelvic floor muscles on that side (sorry if TMI and don't ready any further if it's going to put you off). It is kind of like a ache inside my groin near my hip and it can really play me up on a night-time especially just before TOTM when progesterone is high (which also results in me leaking). When I had my pelvic floor assessment they confirmed the pelvic floor is significantly weaker on the right side.

Well, I think its nearly TOTM because my boobs are aching a bit, but I've no hip pain in bed and I've not yet had a severe leaking incidence! Grin. Obviously my theory will only be assured if TOTM does appear within the next few days to a week.

I also think I'm getting lower on the press ups!

velmadinkly · 12/03/2015 08:43

That should be 'don't read any further...' not 'don't ready any further...'

zippyandbungle · 12/03/2015 09:51

Ooo I love our morning exercise drop ins. I used to go to the gym before work pre DCs and I'm getting that feeling again of bright eyed and bushy tail rather than where the hell is another coffee coming.
I did fat burner, tone and burn, and stretch. I'm not sure about the stretch session, I feel he moves to fast. Think I might do a short pilates section of my own for 7 minutes.
I'm not doing a weigh in until next Wednesday and that will be a full month of Davina and eating heathly, with the exception of one week of back pain and comfort eating. I do feel less wobbly on my thighs.
I'm off to walk the dogs.

hazeyjane · 12/03/2015 09:55

Have finally managed to take the wrapper of the DVD (weeks after buying it!)

Just started with one today, will do one a day of each work out + warm up, then will try to do 2 a day when I have tried them all. I think I will struggle with doing it every day, because I am working 2 days a week, it is I impossible to do it when the kids are not at school and by the time I have done tea, bedtimes, made lunches, done college work and tidied up I am fit for nothing.

Little steps!

Ilikecakes · 12/03/2015 10:03

I'm reading this open mouthed and racing to buy this today! After having DS3 9 months ago I've been dying to get exercising again, to try and boost my non existent energy levels but mainly to feel as though I'm actually doing something for me. The baby weight has gone but I'm really unfit and need toning, but a combination of husband travelling with work lots and DS3 refusing to take a bottle means I can't easily find a couple of hours to disappear off to the gym or a class. I also have a bit of a dodgy, clicky knee that means I'm nervous of starting running again too (did lots pre-kids), which is the only other way I can see to achieve results quickly.

10ish minutes in the privacy of own home sounds amazing, thanks for tip ladies and will check in to let you know how I'm getting on!

francesdrake · 12/03/2015 10:22

I've been doing warm up, fat burner, ultimate fat burner, then two of the others most days for about three weeks now, and although I can't claim to be rippling with muscles, I have noticed a 'good' ache the next day. I did 30 Day Shred on and off for about a year and the results were definitely more immediate, but so was the effect on my right knee! This feels more doable, not least because, unlike Jillian, I don't feel as if Davina's going to reach out through my laptop and prod my wobbly arse, mid-press-up. Blush

Sallystyle · 12/03/2015 10:38

People, sorry to burst your bubble but you will not be building muscle with this DVD.. You need to lift very heavy and properly weight train to build muscle. You can tone what you have but your weight gain or no losses is not due to building muscle. I was a weight trainer and you just can't build muscle with Davina. For a woman especially to build muscle is no easy thing and takes months and months or proper training to build more muscle. It takes months of lifting very heavy with the right diet and the right program to build even a little, so while you might be toning that does not account for any weight gain here.

A few things could be happening... normal weight fluctuations, you are more hungry and accidentally eating more calories or you are relying on exercise alone to lose weight, or more likely you are retaining water. Working out makes you retain more water and can easily put 4 pounds on you.

Ditch the scales!! You don't need them! They are evil things that tell you very little about how you are doing. Use body fat clips if you want to know how much fat you are losing.

My fitness levels have already increased loads :)

PeaceOfWildThings · 12/03/2015 10:44

U2 I am not talking about building body builder muscles, Im talking about strengthening the muscles and increasing flexibility and control, which can improve posture and balance. That is the kind of strength I am aiming for. The tree that bends in the wind, not the one that snaps.

Yes, diet and water and lifestyle are important too.

Sallystyle · 12/03/2015 10:54

Sorry for not being clearer. I was talking about the posts a while back saying that they haven't lost weight on the scales because they are building muscle :) It wasn't aimed at your post.

PeaceOfWildThings · 12/03/2015 11:02

Thanks, and yes you are probably right, although a short and slight woman could probably build some small muscles with 2kg weights. I did as a teenager, with 1kg weights and my body weight. Agree that the weight put on after a couple of weeks wouldn't be down to new muscles forming thiufh.

However, to end on an encouraging note, shifting from a sedentary lifestyle where you do little or no cardio exercise to doing this kind of thing for 30 mins more than 3x a day (or 10 minutes every day) makes us less likely to die early! A small positive! Grin

velmadinkly · 12/03/2015 11:25

I dared to take some pictures of myself last week and I'm going to use them as a measure of any visual improvement. I will probably take some more pictures at the weekend to see if I look any different.

Even if I don't see any visual difference, I know I feel different and in a good way, so it can't be bad really!

Jessica147 · 12/03/2015 11:35

Just about to get this DVD - do I need any weights or other exercise equipment? I loved the super body workout dvd, but don't have time to do it anymore.

wigglesrock · 12/03/2015 11:51

Well after me saying I'd noticed a difference in clothes fitting, general fitness, much improved pelvic floor, I decided to get on the scales and I have lost weight. Like I said I've been doing two weeks of different exercises, and started Davina at the beginning of this week. I've also just lost the desire to eat the shite I was eating - get behind me custard creams Wink. I put on another outfit this morning, albeit jeans and a t- shirt and I look better than I did last week when I tried to t- shirt on (optimistic weather purchase)

mummypolf · 12/03/2015 11:56

U2TheEdge - I don't want to build muscle, I just want to tone up and look less muffiny.....would this DVD help with that? I keep saying I'm out of shape because I had a baby recently......but as my baby is now starting GCSEs this is wearing a bit thin :p

regularbutpanickingabit · 12/03/2015 12:00

Hello, please can I join you?
Baby no.3 is now 14 weeks old but after a horrible csection and recovery I am finally feeling ready to do something about my fitness. I keep sneaking on to this thread to get inspiration and have finally ordered the DVD from Amazon!
I did the original Davina DVD a few years ago (7??!!) alongside the IPD and some running. The combinbation was amazing but I was too intense on the diet side and then fell off the wagon big time. Wine and pasta being my nemesis.

This time I am just going to try and cut down on the sugar and biscuits that I am currently surviving on and make a start with the exercise. Once I start feeling like I am doing something good then my diet should hopefully just balance out. I definitely have a couple of stone to lose but its the fitness and toning that I need to sort out.

Is it ok to join you all please?

stevienickstophat · 12/03/2015 12:17

Welcome to the thread, Regular!

Let's keep it lighthearted and encouraging, shall we? We're doing something, and that's better than nothing. If we start to overanalyse, I know I for one will get discouraged Smile

PeteCampbellsRecedingHairline · 12/03/2015 13:06

I already have muscle, I just need to find it under the padding. Blush

Has anyone done couch 2 5k? Really thinking about doing it alongside Davina.

BuzzardBird · 12/03/2015 13:07

Right my knee is really painful today, does anyone know which one are not too bad on the knee?

stevienickstophat · 12/03/2015 13:22
