That's great sirzy a fab time. It took me just over two hours to cover the same distance!

postmanpatscat · 18/05/2014 16:23

Oops...no it didn't, it's the Great North Run that's a half marathon! Just ignore me Blush

originalpiratematerial · 18/05/2014 16:29

Well done, Sirzy! That's fab.

ThursdayLast · 18/05/2014 16:35

Well done sirzy!

YeGodsAndLittleFishes · 18/05/2014 16:37

WELL DONE SIRZY! Grin

SoftKittyWarmKitty · 18/05/2014 17:08

Well done Sirzy, you should be proud of that.

cinnamongreyhound · 18/05/2014 17:13

Fantastic Sirzy, it was a scorcer here!

Forgot my photo earlier

AmberNectarine · 18/05/2014 17:28

Great job Sirzy - I'm hoping for cooler weather for my two this week!

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 18/05/2014 17:29

Well done Sirzy

Still on the injury bench here, so no running from me this weekend, although I have enjoyed reading the thread and running vicariously through all of you Smile

melliebobs · 18/05/2014 17:48

Manchester was horrible. Horrible horrible horrible. Running in the midday sun is tooooo much. Was feeling good, Got to 6k and was on target for 60mins (my PB is 61:45) then something happened and felt like I had heat stroke. Just could not move and was all shivery. So sensible head on I walked/ran the last 4km. Finished in 67 mins. And yes I cried at the end cos I was so pissed off.

Must. Get. A grip! Tough conditions. Running past a jam packed medical tent jam packed with people on stretchers n drips was a bit Blush

CQ · 18/05/2014 18:12

Aw melliebobs that sounds really tough. It's good that you were sensible though, you could have ended up in that medical tent otherwise.

There's always another race.

And 67 minutes is still a bloody good time Grin

YeGodsAndLittleFishes · 18/05/2014 18:12

Crikey Mellibobs should we turn on the garden hose and provide an open air shower or something?!
Well done. Don't be hard on yourself. I wasn't even going to go and sit out in that hear at midday. Brew Brew Brew

YeGodsAndLittleFishes · 18/05/2014 18:14

*heat, not hear.

melliebobs · 18/05/2014 18:20

There were 2 showers on route actually. The latter was more a man with hosepipe. He absolutely drenched me. He thought it was funny but it was like being covered in ice, I was already struggling but my quads seezed up. Now I'm home I'm glad to just be in one piece! I have another 10k at the end of June but it's an evening race. Thank god!

emummy · 18/05/2014 18:20

Well done sirzy and melliebobs! Sounds like pretty tough conditions, so you both did great. Hope you are both sitting with your feet up with a nice relaxing glass of vino.

originalpiratematerial · 18/05/2014 18:22

melliebobs that sounds very tough - well done on finishing and you SO did the right thing. I've been reading a lot on Facebook about people on IV drips and so on Sad.

Knackerelli · 18/05/2014 18:34

Well done sirzy and melliebobs! You both did really great in tough conditions. Am totally in awe, I really struggled at yesterday's parkrun in the heat; and that was much earlier.

YeGodsAndLittleFishes · 18/05/2014 18:37

Not funny to drench runners in hot weather. Very damgerous, as you say!

Glad you're ok mellie.

orangeflutie · 18/05/2014 18:51

I went out today and ran 4 miles.I wasn't intending to go that far but felt good and feet didn't hurt. Keeping fingers or toes crossed lol that they're getting better.

Well done Sirzy and Melliebobs for running in the heat todaySmile

Sirzy · 18/05/2014 20:13

Mellie - sorry it didn't go how you wanted. I think in that heat everything planned goes out the window tbh

And the great run team have confirmed on facebook that there are no serious medical concerns so hopefully those collapsing where 'just' dehydrated or exhausted
